Mine too are changing to a chronic format - I am sick of consultants and live in fear of attack - I have never wanted to apply in the past but I am considering applying for Disability due to the life altering nature of the clusters and the effects on my work . For those that post comment who have had no experience of cluster either as a sufferer or as one who has seen a friend or a loved one go through it - think very carefully before offering comment - this condition is no laughing matter -

I am a 35 year sufferer. Oxygen has worked in the past and Imitrex (Sumatriptan) injections. Because of the cost, limitations and side effects it has become an option that I choose not to use if possible. The success of Psylocybin has been amazing! Just my experience.

Hi Darlene, what is Psylocybin? I'm ready to try anything for my episodes when they happen. I'm a 24 year sufferer - my worst was for hours after I went to bed one night and I had to get an iv of Imitrex, along with Morphine for nearly a day in the emergency room. Thank you, fellow sufferer David.
@Sydebern
@Sydebern 10 лет назад
DRW1107 Psilocybin is the main substance in Magic mushrooms. So you have to have psychedelic trips every now and then, but they seem to help many people. I've heard of people who got cured completely of cluster headaches with psilocybin.
@darlenecox2358
@darlenecox2358 10 лет назад
DRW1107 I use Psylocybin brewed in a tea every 2 months. I have been CH free for 18 months. I have skipped 2 cycles for certain because of this. You do not have to take very much, which means the trip can be pretty mild..even just before bed is fine. You will sleep well.

Darlene, having previously tried Oxygen is it no longer working for you as well as it used to, and/or do you suffer rebound attacks? OUCH UK are currently running a study on Ultra High Flow Oxygen, and they have now published some information at www.ultrahighflow.com/. The results to date show 90% aborted attacks and a 69% reduction in attack length, so it may be worth getting in touch with the OUCH UK Charity...

that’s fascinating. LSD is described as a substance that “rewires your brain”, which suggests that these headaches are rooted in brain activity. i hope for the necessary studies to be conducted

It took nearly twenty five years for me to get diagnosed and my working life has been wrecked because sickness benefit and employers' patience never lasted as long as my 3 month cluster. Working through attacks when I was younger required extremely high levels of aggression, so I'd need a new job after each cluster. Big respect to my woman of 12 years for sticking by me and to all the people who have worked to help her and our children understand it's not just me.

I've had these headaches for over 25 years, but 10 years in complete remission. They just started again all of a sudden two weeks ago. I've had them every day since; usually three times (30-120 minutes) spread out by 6 hours of remission. I'm tired of debating with my doctor when he assumes sinusitis or migraine, and of course was prescribed a useless antibiotic. Of course I was referred to a neurologist, and went through those useless expensive CT scans again, and a spinal tap to rule out Meningitis. Since the attacks started my blood pressure has gone sky high, I feel so weak from the Sumatriptan, the Tramadol, and the increased dose of blood pressure meds. My doctor now wants to hit me with an antidepressant and something normally used for epilepsy. I really hate all these drugs and I feel like they're killing me.

My clusters are in my left eye and the tightness goes to the back of my neck with constant eye watering! Pain wakes you out of a sleep and immediately your blood pressure goes up, you start panicking cause you feel it behind that eye and you wake up so tired and so wanting to go back to sleep ,but, you know what's gonna happen next!! 45 mins to an hour of the worst torture ever! In the worst part of the headache (for me) I planted my face in the couch cushion and lying (doggy position) the only way I know how to describe it sorry!! I rubbed my face into the couch cushion pulling my hair while rubbing my eye and banging my feet on the carpet, Rubbing my face back and forth into the cushion! As the pain got too the peak. I literally had to get up and walk. As any Clusterhead knows, you can't sit still during the attack! Just keep waiting and moving and praying and begging until finally!! You feel the fist that has had your eye squeezed in its hand, finally start to let loose! It goes away rather quickly and there you are on the floor breathing heavily and completely exhausted but so thankful. You crawl to the bed ready to sleep but in the back of your mind know that tomorrow IS another day. I've had these headaches since 2002 on a yearly basis. There is so much more knowledge now on these headaches, although no cure. In 2002 no one knew what was wrong with me. Always diagnosed with sinuses! I felt so helpless and alone. 2008 I googled my symptoms and there it was, Cluster headaches with every symptom I had suffered right there on the screen in front of me. I cried like a baby!! I'm not crazy, it's not just me!! Since then I've still suffered every year, but at least I know I'm not alone and that makes it just a bit better!! The only thing that helps my clusters is the Imitrex injection! Unfortunately they are super expensive even with insurance and very limited in length of use! So many times I've just had to suck it up and wait for the beast to come to me at 12:00am and endure 45mins to 1 hours of unbearable pain. Every night for 30 days during my cycle!! It's not just a headache! It consumes your entire life when your in your cluster cycle. Your life revolves around your cycle! I'm happy to say that I've been cluster free for almost 3 years, however, reading others comments has me a bit alarmed as many of you have been in remission just as long and they came back!! That honestly scares the shit out of me!!

I have cluster headaches (which is "suicide headaches") and I have since I was about 9, and I am 12 now. I always get them everyday at the same time, in choir, language arts, newspaper, and math. Sometimes I have to leave class because of it and I am literally immune to any headache medicine now. I have to try the oxygen treatment now, but I am glad some people understand it sucks, usually people make fun of me for it. But yeah, it happens everyday for me :p

No amount of painkillers seem to work, but, if you can, take sleeping tablets - the drowsy antihistamines seem to be strong but 'safe'. Obviously, most people are not in a position to just take a couple of hours and sleep, but for those who can...; I also suffer from hypertension (high BP). When I first started taking meds for this my CHs eased. You may wanna check your own BP with your doctor. Much love, amigos, CHs are truly beyond the beyond, xxx

I suffered from cluster headaches over a period of twenty years. The pain was so intense that I had considered suicide several times. The last time I had an episode I was in Phoenix, AZ, in 2012 and took an emergency flight back home to Canada, where my treatment and hospital visit would be covered by healthcare. The doctor there prescribed me prednisone for 12 days (had relief the first night) and then Verapamil. I have been on the Verapamil since 2012 now and have had zero episodes. (Knock on wood) Honestly, if you are suffering please ask your doctor about Verapamil, you might find it works for you too. Good luck to all. Cluster headaches are just the nastiest in terms of pain.

I have suffered from regular kidney stones in the past. Incredibly painful. I have also experienced migraines a few times which strangely subsided quite quickly after vomiting. Once the migraine was gone, I craved salty food. Then after I wake up the next day, I felt better than usual. My experiences with these are nothing compared to what I imagine CH sufferers experience. I feel an innate need to help them get through it when watching people going through and attack on video.

Just keep quiet. that is what I do, nobody understands who doesn't go through it. It's not being melodramatic but I don't need to hear that you had a headache too, or your sinuses bother you. I have had Dr's look at me like I was crazy after I said the last about an hour. Luckily I don't get too many episodes, so I suffer for a month or so, then pray the next one doesn't hit for a while. There is stuff you can do to help, but overall, you have to just deal with it when it comes. I am just trying to not kill myself this cluster. Its only begging , I know it is going to get worse.

trust me I understand, its a whole new pain that no human should have to endure. I have one every two days and I've already had surgery for it. I would have given up on living if it wasn't for my gf. These are exactly what I get....i've had them for around 8 years episodic. I just use Propranolol for prevention when the bout starts, and then Migraleive, Ibuprofen and Sumatriptan Succinate tablets when the pain begins...usually last between 15 minutes - 4 hours. If anyone is doing any other documentaries I'll be involved !! I've always wanted to try Oxygen tanks but there is no funding for them where I live through the NHS.

I'm Eastern Cherokee Native from the US. As far as I know, there are only a handful of our people who have these, as it's mostly a European disorder. Yet when I was put on Prozac at the age of 11, these headaches almost went away entirely. I have one maybe every other year, if even that, and it's mild. Would that work over there?

Four hours of hell screaming; my neighbours could hear me as they mentioned to me the next day. Oxygen and Injection primarlily.. Unitl Ocipital Nerve block can be had from my Headache specialist. Surley someone has to have come up with a cure by now? I will try magic mushrooms soon.

Has anyone tried histamine? It is given by iv and it can put clusters in remission. My husband was in remission for 7 years but they have recently returned. He has just finished another histamine treatment and so far it has worked.

Clayton Lawrance its the only thing that has saved my husbands life, truly. its not something he relishes doing, but when the alternative is puking and screaming in agony, 3 months out of the year, its a small price to pay!

Has anyone tried alternative medicine? Such as meditation--that sort of thing is known to cure cancer naturally. Just curious.
