Not sure if you realize this BUT THAT IS NOT A SUICIDE SHIFTER !!!! That is what is called a jockey shift because it sits behind you like a jockey wiping the horse to go faster. Suicide is when you have no front brake !!! With no front brake you have to have the clutch and the brake both pushed in with your 2 feet to stop. What happens when you stop and can't put down your foot to hold yourself up.......... that is the suicide !!!!
Diggin the build man. I know everyone is saying be careful with the suicide shifter, but that handlebar wobble could get real sketch. Good call on on sticking to the sporty for now. Excited to see the progress on the Honda.
Take this from an OG. @ 9:17 it's okay if you stall out on that bike. Do it on a 1949 Panhead with a kick-start and a drum top transmission where you have to feel it into every gear unlike that Honda where you just click it into gear. You don't have that magic button to get you going again in a second, at a traffic light with cars behind you. You have to learn the habit of always putting down your right foot at a stoplight. I've been riding foot clutch and hand shift bike for 53 years now. No Magic Buttons to start it when you stall taking off. You'll get better at it, good luck to you kid.
You can help the wobble with the Zombie Performance solid riserless handlebar bushings. They're around 30ish with shipping. I got the T-bars from them and the bushings helped a lot with the wobble
Different strokes different folks, we all ridin on 2... Adjust your idle up a little to start... I never took to the suicide shifter, but then again never built my own bobber either... Being a bit of a chrome hoar, 07 Deuce, slammed is my daily. thoroughly enjoying the content Vu... cheers bro
scuseme... one question. other than stetic purpuses, what the purpuse of instaling a suicide shifter kit? isn it harder to drve the byke? and as u mentioned both feet shoul be able to touch ground when stops or in an emergency situation, so, whats the deal instalig that kit with? not criticing, just asking¡
My uncle had a ninja bike i think in 2005 and he wasn't paying attention and got hit by a semi truck but he's ok so Vu stay safe bro love the bike can't wait to see where its going
I'm glad to hear he's okay man. I really enjoy the motorcycle lifestyle rn and I don't want it to be the reason I end my life early so I practice a lot and watch videos on crashes to see what I can do in that situation. Also I'm not into speeding. There's a saying, forgot where I heard it but they say it's better to be 10 mins late than 10 years early. Something like that 😅
I bought this one but I'm not using the plate underneath the seat Motorcycle 3" Synthetic Leather Diamond Solo Seat w/ Springs + Sliding T-Bar + Swivel Bracket Mounting Kit a.co/d/3mSsJzb
In your Vid u showed how u were having problems with the cable retracting. U said “l’ll fix that later”, but didn’t show how u fixed it. I’m having the exact same problem. Any tips?
I just practice leaning going through the mountains. If it's my first time up that mountain then I recommend taking it easy and learn the road. After a couple times then challenge yourself but that doesn't mean full throttle. There's techniques like countersteering and turning outside inside outside that you need to learn. I take everything I learn up in the mountains and apply it to the streets. There's so many times I get into close calls and I just counter steer and swerve out the way. Hopefully this helps and sorry about the paragraph 😅
Another thing! Mountains are full of Blind turns. People like to fricken take up 2 lanes! So always be on guard! If you want any more advices from me please dm me and maybe do a video call. There's too much to talk about and I'm lazy to type it out haha!
...need to get it into neutral coming up to stops... ...that way you can put either or both feet down... ...then clutch it into first to take off... ...or if you don't need to come to a full stop... ...slip it into second and continue on...
i really think its best going back to stock i realize your just trying to do a car build but to me that mod just isnt safe i still enjoy your videos though but just curious about your safety bro plz give me back a reply
Vu you stall a little bit I over rev a lot, I actually just bought a bike with a suicide shifter on it but it's a little different than yours. 🔥🔥🔥 videos tho fam!
Hey vu so literally you say that literally white smoke coming out from your exhaust.... that mean maybe your piston rings has been out.....if it black then maybe it's carburetor or the exhaust has full with carbon.....but white there are slightly percentage that the piston rings it's out...that based out of my experience and from all motorcycle mechanics in Malaysia.... mostly white smoke because the piston rings it's out...
@@VuLes13 yes I have.... couple times actually (thats because I sent to wrong mechanic to do it)....I think you need to check it out asap cause I afraid that the block will taken some scratch.....if it's then you will need to sent to machine shop to rebore it back for sure it will cost a lot of money plus buying new piston... especially your motorcycle it a two piston so it will cost more if both of the block scratch
@@VuLes13 hey vu so I did ask my mechanic and they say maybe it was the piston rings maybe also the carburetor.... usually if the carburetor the problem it will make black smoke..but you can try cleaning the carb first
Its not a smell I'm familiar with. I know what gas, oil, and coolant smells like but it's something I can't explain. Honestly it's probably one of those 😅 I'll figure it out haha
Actually its called suicide clutch and jockey shifter but the name is pretty self explanatory LOL. I haven't had any issues with the clutch and its pretty simple to use. A lot of people think its dangerous but I feel like my response time with the suicide clutch vs normal clutch is hardly noticeable and plus its not like I am racing my shadow, I'm usually cruising around town with it.
Usually white is is water, blue is oil and black is to much fuel. I don't now if Vu Le's bike is water cooled. Other sources of water could be condensation in the engine or exhaust system, also some one mentioned water in intake or fuel.🙂
I want to! But there's no drift events near me. Everytime I go its on socal and I have to spend Hella money. Money's tight rn so hopefully my new detailing business will help me get back into 240 content.
I'll try that again. I'll completely disassemble and clean everything out. But rn I'm getting gas into the cylinders and I'm leaking gas from the float bowl. But I'll try what you recommend too. Thank you 🙏
@@kingcrumpet you've probably never ridden a bike with a jockey/suicide shift . I have for years ..try taking a sharp left turn on a hill from a stop. You'd be glad you had it then .or you can just keep looking stupid stalling your bike at every stop just so you can "look cool" after you manage to get it rolling . The recluse clutch is not intended for every gear
How many time does everyone have to hear this?.......The correct term is SUICIDE CLUTCH! Not shifter. The shifter is called a Jockey shift. Try and remember!!!!
Suicide clutch? Back in the 60s and early 70s, the boys were chopping down Harley trikes and side cars mostly bought at police auctions and from army surplus. Those had foot clutch (rocker) and hand shifter usually on/by the gas tank. Having a ‘foot clutch’ & ‘hand shift’ on a motorcycle do not qualified as a ‘suicide clutch’, sorry. Some people even call that set up a ‘suicide shifter’. There is nothing suicidal about a hand shifter and a foot clutch by themselves. To use the term ‘suicide clutch’ rightly you need to have the motorcycle set up: 1) without front brakes. 2) with a foot clutch. (not the rocker type) 3) with a hand shifter obviously. 4) and last, with only two wheels. That set up is potentially awkward and can be dangerous because the rider cannot stop safely on an upward incline for a street light, a stop sign or for any other reasons unless he has a buddy riding along who can put his front tire against his rear wheel to keep him from rolling back. That’s is why the term ‘suicide clutch’ came about. On the other hand, ‘suicide shifter’ is an oxymoron term for lack of better words but some early motorcycles (very few) and in today’s after market motorcycle parts, there’s such a thing called a ‘suicide shifter’. That abortion has/had the clutch lever on the shifter (stick) itself instead of on the (left side) handle bar. Very dangerous set up at low speed but fine after the first gear. Hand shifting a motorcycle is not that dangerous (or difficult) and it’s ‘cool’. But without the front brakes, it is dangerously ‘suicidal’. Only hard core bikers nowadays, young & old still ride (rigid frame) motorcycles with the true ‘suicide clutch’. In some jurisdictions and several European countries, this set up is totally illegal. 😎
This mod seems too annoying to deal with. Especially since you can't even relax your leg without hitting it. For bar hopping too.. it's gonna be too much to do while buzzed. Just be careful vu
Gave thumbs down because this is dangerous…. Still love the video! When you lose your balance or have to make emergency stop and you put your left foot down you will go forward in traffic when in gear.
