I’ve said this multiple times DC’s animated universe has always far exceeded anything live action. But I honestly I won’t complain because before they started making live action movies the animated universe was just untouchable JLA unlimited BTAS BB, young justice and now this. It’s insane and I love it
DC and Isekai are words no one could imagine together Edit: Yes. I know Ninja Batman, RWBY crossover, & others exist. I'm just speaking in general that DC and the word "ISEIKAI" is something you don't see huddled together so often.
But honestly, an isekai built into an existing IP sounds amazing. Most isekai start you off with no knowledge of the characters. Also the protagonist is more often than not the hero. Here we have psychopaths being isekai'd. This sounds for an insanely good matchup.
DC and Isekai actually go way back, have you ever read the "Crisis on Infinite Earths," there are like a ton of Multiverse stories they have done in the Past.
Isekai's and Time-Travel inspire me to learn about 'Low-Tech you can introduce easily''. Ya know, Soap, Peniciline, Sewer-Systems, Waterwheels, all stuff no 'well-meaning heartofgold Isekai-Progtag' EVERRRR thinksss of' !!!!
@@spiceup1979 Wit studios volunteered!? Wow! I like them ever since they made Attack on titans season one. S1 is a masterpiece. Now I am REALLY looking forward to suicide squad isekai.
@@pixel.simptt yeah the game doesn’t look too good, but I mean as a whole the suicide squad wasn’t represented enough in main stream now we have: 3 movies( if you count animated one), a game and now this anime, and the peacemaker series
A DC anime animated by WIT studio and written by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara?!? Nagatsuki and Umehara have worked together in the past on Vivy and I absolutely loved it! I’m so incredibly excited to see what happens!
@@capsortee Look at the dragon, knights, pigs, orcs... Of course it's not hand-drawn. Maybe there will be a mix like in those berserk ova and the ugly 2016 series. Some frames will be hand drawn and others is average 3d.
The DC animated series stuff that they made in the early 2000's were some of my favorite animated shows of all time. And boy am I both surprised and happy with their announcement of working on a new animated show thats also an anime!!
That'd be kinda fun, cool and interesting to see an anime adaptation or extension of CW's shows. Also that'd be really cool and awesome if the anime were to have El Chombo's Maccarron Chacarron somewhere in it
The story is being done by the author of re:zero, the psycho pass character designer and animation done by wit studio....man this anime is staff heavy with talent
@@kingsrevenge9234 Hey man, If you enjoy making art and want to become a pro artist you totally could. But you should also think about your future, can you still get a good job in the future without school? Or are you certain that you want to become an artist in the future? It's up to you, as long as you're happy and able to live a comfortable life, you could go for it! I wish you the best of luck.
Ehh I seen it coming. DC made a few anime is the past so it was about time suicide squad had one. Looking forward to seeing best girl Harley in action!
A little surprised no one is mentioning how the screenplay is being written by the duo who wrote Vivy, one half of which is Tappei Nagatsuki, author of Re:Zero. WIT must've taken a liking to him.
I know right?! Though, i guess most people watching this trailer are DC fans, not anime fans. I didn't even know tappei had any experience as a play writer, but honestly seeing how good vivy was, and as a massive re zero fan, this too should come out great.
Enough of the Harley Quinn and Joker involvement in Suicide Squad! There are other squad members that could be touched upon. This movie looks to be Batman Ninja level of disappointing.
I'm guessing they're the marketing points, like it's actually a Harley Quinn movie with the squad as a Supporting Cast and Jokers the secret villain cuz this is her fortune and how she gets away from him
I'm hoping for a second trailer to show them off more. If joker is the villain (and not just a side plot) that would be pretty cool. Specially with the Isekai bit. Do also wanna know.....how many trucks are they gonna get to hit these characters?
I don't know how the story is gonna go, but the visuals are absolutely gorgeous, and the animation is amazing, I do hope the directors and writers know what they're doing because it'll go to waste if it's bad. Edit: I will give WIT Studios a pass though, they are one of my favorite Japanese animation studios.
Wasn't there some DC event in which everyone got shipped to some other dimension, kind of like Marvel's Secret Wars? I remember seeing panels of the Joker organising the defense of a castle (and making an All Around the Watchtower reference while at it).
I love suicide squad and the isekai art style just made the iconic squad way better then it already was! I'm so excited for the new series and what DC has plannedplanned for it!
@@nicholasgerry8247 isekai isn't even a genre of story, it's a overused trope, it's more like magic medieval fantasy with with the isekai meaning transported to another world, isekai can't even be called another genre, isekai is not a style, it's a story element
Naturally if theirs a Suicide Squad theirs Amanda Waller but I’m curious how much of a role Joker will play. Usually when it comes to Suicide Squad stories if Joker is involved it’s either to capture or stop Joker
All of you should know that the isekai (other world ) concept isn't new. Dc and other comics had their heroes traveled to fantasy worlds, alien planets, hollow earth, or even different time periods. I mean superman is a alien who made earth his new home. The concept/trope isn't surprising.
it really couldn't do worse numbers than the Flash movie, so they might as well throw it up on the big screen, assuming its a feature and not a 12 episode series. because if its a series, we wouldn't want to lose extra plot just to fit a run time.
The animation level is definitely quality (the lighting and detail in particular is above what a typical studio might go for, since anime style is meant to be cheap and easier to push out on a continuous basis by keeping simplistic facial structure though usually has very nice backgrounds and detail shots) and Isekai is generally a fun genre because it plays on fish out of water dynamics. Interested to see where this will go and how it will play out.
Bro, why most of the western animations have more simplified style than most of the anime's then? A.k.a gravity falls, rick and Morty, Simpsons, south park, samurai jack, archer, Harley Quinn Anime style always have been more detailed than western cartoon style since 1995s and anime's just can have their own style, not because they are meant to be "cheap"
???? Look at wits “normal” productions they push out… LOL this is standard for WIT studio, quality as always, they didn’t just do this because of DC, DC fanboys really crazy out here
@bullettime1116 im not going to try to argue here but i promise you anime has some of the most complicated things to animate ever. No cartoons produced by dc are anywhere near as complicated as this will be. You can tell by the quality alone
The fact that it's animated by Wit Studio who did Attack on Titan for the first couple of seasons up until season 3 part 2 means this anime is going to be very good.
CANT WAIT! IWILL KILL BATMAN!! In 2022 from May until summer i watched all Batman tv series that ihad not wathced yet(batman animated series, batman beyond, the batman). They were gereat but iam very happy that finaly there is aSuicide squad series as iam bad too like joker and harley quieen are(IAM THE SHREDDER THE LEADER OF THE FOOT NINJAS).
You’re putting too much pressure on it. It’s not trying to do anything other than have fun and entertain you, meet the movie half way and have fun as well :)
@@davidhong1934Batman Ninja was actually really good, the most anime DC ever went and it was just random af at times, it was indeed an amazing movie and I watched it more than several times
mn, this looks like it's going to be really good, an isekai with villainous characters that we already know, especially with Tappei in the script. I really want to see this
Not only Tappei, but the guy that co-authored VIVY with him, and the guy that made the music for Re:Zero. Fire Force. Eminence in the Shadows, and Goblin Slayer. This is either going to be godly (if these three people are given a lot of agency creatively) or absolute trash with a lot of passion from Tappei & the others put in, because DC or WIT might hold them back.
Honestly it would be a lot of fun seeing Harley and Joker going bonkers in a fantasy world. But I wouldn't care much for the full Suicide Squad. Seeing Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, King Shark, or whoever in fantasy isn't as interesting to me.
The writer of Re:Zero, the animation studio that started Attack on Titan, SpyXFamily, and Vinland Saga, and the Suicide Squad? Did not expect this but it sounds crazy enough to be an instant hit.
Hopefully this does well, because a Static Shock anime would be hype! I’m so curious on the voice actors for Quinn and Joker, if they nail that then it’s gonna be worthwhile
DC may not be winning their live action movies but their animations are top notch, and now the Japan side of Warner Bros. decide to anime-fy DC characters, now this is what you call a win (hopefully they have Japanese dub, it feels weird watching anime in English for me)
Hopefully this can Segway into a new and actually good era of dc where the stories finally align and connect I am beyond excited for this (I know the animated films connect I’m referring to the live action films. And though every movie doesn’t have to connect like marvel it would be nice to have some consistency 💀)
I mean why invest millions to be flop like flash, when u can spend a lot less and just hire a great japanese studio such WIT/Nappa/Trigger to make a masterpiece of anime like cyberpunk
The fact that WIT is taking this on is giving me some unexpected excitement for a DC character based anime. This studio is responsible for AOT and Vinland Saga with its incredible adaptations, so I know they’ll bring out a good product.
@@KingKarma300Vinland was made by studio Kafka which was the offshoot of WIT and the staff remains same. As for aot they were made to work night and day only to suffer loss because they weren't a part of production committee unlike Mappa which is a part of committee now making half baked product and feeding on profits while crunching on their workers.
@@howareyoumoreofaclownthanmefacts ands considering the squads are villains I'm excited yo see how things would turn out and how the folks in the fantasy settings would react to them
What made this interesting to me is that the screenplay is by Tappei Nagatsuki, the author of Re:Zero, and also with Eiji Umehara. Both did a project with WIT studio before titled Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song.
@@joshjo9405I don't know what you mean by GATE but comic book characters travel across the multiverse and different dimensions all the time usually by portals created by either technology, magic or the superpowers of someone like DC's Sideways who was the power to open portals to anywhere in the multiverse
@@Gabe600 “Gate: And thus the JSDF Fought There” or something along those lines is the name of an Isekai anime in which a magical gateway suddenly appears in Tokyo connecting our world with a high fantasy world like a tunnel. It follows soldiers of the Japan self defense force as they explore the world on the other side.
It's amazing to hear from WIT Studio again! I feel like I haven't heard from them much since they went bakrupt from animating S1-3 of AOT, so here's to hoping for good things to come to them :D
They didn't go bankrupt from AOT they just couldn't keep up with the insane deadlines and decided it wasn't worth it for them anymore. Since then they have made the first season of Vinland Saga, Great Pretender, Bubble, Vivy Flourite Eyes Song, Ranking of Kings and collabed with Cloverworks to make Spy x Family. Aside from Bubble everything has been pretty well received I'm surprised you haven't heard about them since AOT.
@@frizen9328 what! Thats crazy, of those I have watched SXF and Ranking of Kings, I don't know how I missed those as WIT productions. Thanks for the info tho, looks like they are already doing well haha
"That time I got reincarnated into a maniacal unhinged love abused clown in a dark city while being chased by a guy with parent issues in a bat suit." This is what Im calling it.
This is a pleasant surprise. What they did with the Catwoman anime movie absolutely amazing and it felt like she came right out of thr comic books. I hope DC gets more anime movies and shows.
@@yourdaddy8605 way Batman 89’ true to character? No but people still love the film and Keaton. I’d rather DC take risks and try something new while retaining elements of those characters in a respectable way than have the same stories regurgitated year after year
I'm tentatively excited for this, need to see more, but as a concept I love it. Where's the squad though, you can't make Suicide Squad without it being a squad
@@f3lla776 I think I'd actually like that. Though since it's an anime I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed crazy and together throughout Either way, yeah there's definitely potential, I'm just gonna wait for more info/trailers before getting fully on board
@@NickyYey that's what I'm hoping for, wish we got a glimpse at the character roster though so I could be sure it wasn't just Joker and Harley, and because it's just always fun to see new rosters and which characters are included. It wouldn't really make sense for it to be just a duo because it is Suicide *Squad*, I just don't know what to expect from a DC anime😂
