I just brought one of these home yesterday! Everything I've read says they are defensive and skittish...every video I have seen they are as calm as can be. Mine is probably only i3. I can't wait for this thing to grow! Beautiful spider.

Awesome spiders and they breed easy in captivity so no need to poach them from nature

Magnificent spider! I'm surprised at the relatively small size of the abdomen.

bugsnstuff do you ever collect any wild tarantulas for breeding projects? I heard sometimes its necessary to add new blood because some species are highly in captivity. At least from what I've heard.

Hey lads. Different species but I just bought a 3” lampropelma nigerrimum “Sangihe island black”. It looks to have a faint tiger stripe abdomen and a cream carapace. I’m thinking it’s the wrong species bc it’s not all black or are these possibly juvenile colours. Let me know if youve got any idea about this. It’s looking like some cyriopagopus to me. Thanks!

Was the last specimen around maximum size? I’m asking because I’ve heard females can reach nearly ten inches
@bugsnstuff

Although large, we can't say whether or not it was fully grown.

@@bugsnstuff thank you so much for the reply, even two years after the upload. Really says a lot. I’m curious because I bought a sling recently and I loved the idea of having a ten inch, jet black beast

How are you guys able to determine gender so easily? The tiny abdomens and long front legs on some of those made me think they looked like males and I know a lot of keepers can’t tell until they have a molt to look at.
