Dr. Taylor, I have exchanged my Netflix series for your incredible RU-vid channel. I'm 44 and decided to lean everything I can about menopause. All the information provided is so valuable and every single time I learn something new. I've been watching them in order. Thank you so much for your dedication to us! You also should do some videos about your skin regimen.
Monica, Thank you so much for your kind comment. I never thought I could compete with Netflix! You are s smart to get this eduction the proper way. And, as for my skin, cosmetologists are horrified when I tell them my "regimen." Basically, I do nothing but put Vaseline on my face. I hate makeup, and just don't have the time or interest in bothering with all the beauty stuff.
Hi Menopause Barbie, Thanks for this collection of tutorials on hormones. It has “rocked my world”. I find I am “reconsidering” my options (now I know they exist!😂😳). Seriously, thanks for the leap into RU-vid etc. This information is vital for women’s health and a great service 👍
You are so amazing and real. You're world/profession was totally different and helped more than social media. I was forced into surgical menopause at almost 51. They found a rather large ovarian cyst and PCOS that a clean out was an option, and I agreed! Well the grapefruit cyst was benign, but the early stage uterine cancer was REAL. No spread and no treatment needed....I think I might need something. I'm taking supplements that help mood, hot flashes, bones/joints, but think I need a wee pharma boost
Dear Barbara, I am pleased by your cheerful mood and sense of humour ; that makes knowledge elements still more enjoyable ; had a great time watching this ; evening regards
I can't thank you enough for the information I have deemed from watching all the videos up until now. Thank you for being so transparent and dispelling myths, it has changed my mind about my options!
I love knowing that you will make your menopause management decisions based on facts rather than fear and hype. And you will do so with confidence. Keep watching, my dear.
Hi Menopause Taylor!!! I was almost half way through your video and realized that I had to stop it and go back to the very start again to watch lol I didn't hear a word that you were saying lol because I was too busy looking at all the pretty jewellery you have on, admiring your top or dress and headpiece lol Also loving that elegant, classy chair!!!! I want one!! haha As I have said before i look forward to your videos but I also look forward to seeing what you will be wearing next lol xoxo
Wow! I guess I made a fashion and h9me decorating statement! My dress is by Michal Negrin, a jewelry and clothes designer form Tel Aviv, Israel. But I added the lace because I don't like to show cleavage. The jewelry is from Victorian Trading Company. And the chair is from Amazon.com! Just google for Victorian furniture on Amazon. When you sit in that chair, you'll feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland.
Great video!! I share your mind set regarding social media!!! Ha ha Also, thank you for all this wonderful knowledge it is really appreciated!!! Menopause can be a overwhelming time so glad that I can see your videos where you explain thing sooo great!!! I tell every women who talks to me about menopause to go to your channel!!! Thank you, Thank you!!😘😘😘
Oh, Geraldine, I am so honored to be able to help you. I'll do everything I can to make your menopause and beyond smooth and easy. If you go to my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, you'll see all sorts of other educational tools. No matter how you learn or how much time you have to learn it,I've got you covered.
I love the education you're are giving us on hormones. I've been with you weekly from the start. This needed to be done. Thank you! Today, however, I have to comment on your arms. I want some just like yours! I know you're focus is hormones, but I would love to know your workout routine for arms if you ever find the time to share that.
Laura, You make me laugh! So many women have asked about my arms. I find it quite amusing. You see, they're way too long ... almost to my knees. In any case, I will be showing you all sorts of workouts. I'll sprinkle them throughout the series. There will be a bunch of great stuff for menopausal women, with lots of balance, flexibility, and core. Thank you so much for the compliment. I've always been rather self conscious about my extra long arms. I guess I can let that go.
Mutual greetings of adulation, fellow independent & unbiased thinker! You had me at "Summary!" ;-) Seriously though, the "Pharmaceutical" & "FDA Approved" are more convoluted than Menopause itself! ;-P The "Diverse & Unique" still Shine-On! It's like you've taken Menopause & 'Taylor'd' it just for me! LOL! (& I sooo relate to the "picture" thing!!! I'm with you 100%!) ;-)
I really enjoy your video's that are very constructive and interesting, you also make me laugh with your lovely sense of humour 😂 you are such a beautiful person, oh just to add you have great arm's. Will be watching all your video's.
Thank you so much for this fun and informative series about such a timely subject. I’ve been on a continuous regimen of oral estrogen + progesterone for more than 5 years and I’m considering changing my regimen to avoid first pass of oral estrogen. I’d like to know your thoughts on a regimen of an estrogen ring + oral progesterone continuous regimen.
Lorraine, This is precisely the kind of thing for which I do one-on-one consultations. I can help you find the perfect regimen FOR YOU. No two women are alike. I'm in the business of educating you about everything you need to know and do in order to get exactly what you want for managing your menopause your way. So, here's how a consultation works: 1) You would schedule a one-on-one consultation at my website, MenopauseTaylor.ME, choosing a time that is convenient for you. I do consultations on Skype, FaceTime. Facebook Messenger, What’s App, and the phone. 2) I would send you an email to confirm that you are scheduled for the stated time, and invite you to send me as much information about yourself as you please. You can make it brimming with details and tell me about your reproductive life, any gynecologic problems you've had, your symptoms of peri-menopause, and your symptoms of post-menopause. You can include all your fears, concerns, and goals for your menopause management. You may also send me any labs, mammogram results, bone density results, etc. that you would like me to include in designing your protocol. For instance, if you want to adhere to a certain category of management options (herbs or diet & lifestyle, or whatever), you should tell me that. I will give you a deadline for sending all materials, and will not accept anything after that date. 3) I'll get busy creating a document that gives you all the education you need to understand absolutely everything, points out the pros and cons of each option, and tailors it all to YOU, using the information you have provided. The document will be loooooong. Most are over 30 pages. 4) I will send you the document by email 48 hours before your consultation. You will benefit greatly by reading it in advance. Light bulbs will go off like crazy, and if you're like most women, you'll feel that you've already gotten your money's worth. 5) During your consultation, we will review the document and address any issues you want in order to fine tune everything and determine your best options. I'll tell you exactly how to find the right kind of professional, how to have the conversation in order to get what you want, and the nuances of things like guidelines and insurance. I leave nothing unaddressed. 6) You will go to a professional of your choosing in order to get the actual hormones or whatever you choose to use. 7) After the first consultation, I'll hold your hand (forever if you want me to). In other words, you'll be able to schedule mini-consultations (15-minute or 30-minute, in addition to full consultations) whenever you need to. I'll keep records of your situation. Most women schedule mini-consultation whenever they go to the doctor and don't understand what he or she said, or why. I translate. I make sense of everything. Most schedule mini-consultation whenever they have a new test and they want me to explain the results. And all schedule mini-consultation whenever their situation changes and they need to re-weigh and re-balance their options. The time you spend with me will make everything about working with any other professional so easy. And they will love the fact that you have an actual education rather than a bunch of misconceptions that you got from the Internet. If your initial hormone regimen is not right, you'll want to consult with me before going to your doctor. I can prepare you for what to expect and what to request. So, that's my role. And nobody else on earth does this kind of thing but me. So, I hope you schedule a consultation and let me hold your hand (figuratively). I hope to meet you soon!
I do not have a compounding pharmacy near me, but I have discovered that there are very good, effective bio-identical products that are sold over the counter both at my local health stores and online. Even Amazon has some great products that are affordable and actually work.
I can tell by your comment that you have a lot of misinformation, my dear. Nothing you buy over the counter is regulated, approved, or tested. Nor is is strong enough to prevent even one disease due to estrogen deficiency. If you really want to understand everything, as well as all your options, AND the pros and cons of each, consider scheduling a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. I would hate for you too look back 10 or 20 years from now and say, "Why didn't anyone tell me?" I don't care how you choose to manage your menopause. I have no product to sell you. And I will help you manage it any way you choose. But, please get all the facts. That's what you'll get in a consultation.
Hahaha I have to laugh because of Dr Taylor humor on social media. Resonate deeply with me. I am not a social media person. My life is very productive and “boring “ to most
I follow the physican cometee for responsible medicine. They kind of advocate for hormone free menopause. Only vegan, I'm considering all my options. Thank you so much for the information
Great outfit as usual! I was so looking forward to menopause because I thought all it was was stopping your period. Its bene horrible for me with a fracture and parathyroid tumor and on and on. I am n NYC and had a South African dog walker. She said the housing here is super small but she said in NYC she could get the same herbs. The same with my Chinese herbalist from China. We can get most anything here. My GYN only prescribes Bio-identical . He had a few patients get breast cancer after a few months of taking Premarin. I worked at a ladies gym and there were several women who only took HRT for a few months though I don't know what kind and they got breast cancer. I did try Premarin from a different doctor and had severe heart palpitations. I am happy on the Climara patch but the Progesterone cream from the compounding pharmacy is giving me diarrhea. I read eating green plantains help. They help better than potatoes or rice or any other food but its so bad I am going to lay off for a few days. I take charcoal and other stuff right now but it's so bad I have to stop taking it for a while. I am super sensitive. It doesn't mean there is a problem with it I am just super sensitive for good and bad. Meds work quicker and better with me than most patients but I also have more dramatic side effects than most patients according to my doctors. Great video as usual! Your videos are very informative!
Just stating what other women have told me their experience was. However in my own research with the help of the Osteoporosis expert I decided on Estradiol even though my mom and grandma had it and I had my own breast cancer scare that lasted for 2 years with 2 lumpectomies and 5-7 stereotactic core biopsies. But after checking my estradiol levels being so low I decided on it for myself. I am not scared of breast cancer or HRT. Been there done that!
You are so brilleant at explaining and breaking it all down while keeping me engaged and making it fun😅😅 you are also so beautiful i wonder are you a gemini 😂 im a leo and love people and there personalities and my god you are one of a kind❤
Your experience with the dry pellets cracked my right up Barbie. Thanks for the laugh! PS. If you had a cat, you could have used them as a substitute for kitty litter! I've used chicken feed for exactly the same purpose, and 1/3 of the price. One has to have a sense of humour. x
Hi! I just discovered your videos and so sad that I didn’t find you sooner being that I’ve been going through extreme symptoms for years and been to different doctors who keep saying I don’t need a blood hormone panel. My thought then how do I know correct amount or what I need for replacement. I see you do 1 hour consultations, but do u still do 30 min being that I can’t afford the full hr? Only 10 videos in but I love them and I love your personality thank you so very much!!
Yes watch them in order. I did so with stupified brain fog so I need reminders. Over the counter bio identical hormones, cool. I need to find that video and see what's around. Thank you.
Aah love your spirit 🤗😀🤗 and take on social media..... You are an amazing lady 😘😘😘. Question? I want to start with HRT and would obviously need to get a script from a doctor and preferably a gynecologist HOWEVER how do I look for someone whom specializes in menaupause? My gynecologist over the years prefers younger ladies and feel that somehow I am wasting her time as I am now old!!!! I am 52 and live in Cape Town- any ideas for me? I almost want to go to a doctor and tell them what I want prescribed and for what symptoms!
Look for doctors who do Gynecology ONLY, not Obstetrics and Gynecology. Many Ob/Gyn doctors stop doing obstetrics later in their careers because of the all-night, no-sleep schedule of obstetrics. If you can find a gynecologist who no longer delivers babies, they'll have much more time for you. In North America, there's an organization called North American Menopause Society (NAMS). Through it, you can find a gynecologist who specializes in menopause or does nothing but menopause. See if there's something similar in Cape Town. I don't live there any longer, and don't know if there's anything similar.
I'm confused about Soy products /milk .... I used to drink it daily and eat Tofu all the time until a primary care doctor told me don't go near soy anymore ( this was over 5 years ago , and I did quit ASAP seeing as a doctor told me it was a plant estrogen and can cause breast cancer ) This was a doctor I worked for at the time I was not her patient . Now in hindsight I'm thinking she was wrong . She also made me think I had a very high CA 125 once and scared me real bad into thinking I had ovarian cancer . I heard that you can have a slightly high CA 125 with endometriosis as well. Which was the case with me . Anyway back to the soy , I'm thinking it's safe , but now I'm so used to drinking almond milk and almond products I'm not sure if to go back . If it will help me in any way with this dreaded menopause depression I'll give it a shot , it beats this suffering and crying daily .
I hate it when people have unwarranted fears. I'm so sorry you had to go through that. But I'm happy you now know the facts. You can drink soy or almond milk, whichever you prefer. The big thing is to know there's no reason to treat soy like poison. And you're so right about the CA 125. It's very non-specific. That means it can be abnormal in a variety of conditions (including endometriosis). I think it will take something much stronger than soy milk to overcome the depression of menopause. There are so many options in multiple categories. Please don't suffer needlessly. Whether you're open to using hormones or antidepressants or St. John's Wort, please try to alleviate it.
I am with you. I guess I am old too. I can't keep up with all the social media either but I will definitely watch these videos. Any seminars planned for 2021?
I have converted the seminar into webinars. You can buy the set of 15 webinars at my store on my website (MenopauseTaylor.ME). Be absolutely sure to start with video 1 and watch them all in order if you don't want to sabotage your menopause education. If you want a shortcut, schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. 'll tailor everything specifically to YOU.
Hi Dr. 😊 .. Have you happen to have done a video on if any of the birth control pills on the market DO NOT contain enough estrogen in them to meet the criteria to prevent heart attack Alzheimer's and osteoporosis? Im just curious bc some of them look like they have awfully useless levels of estrogen for preventing those diseases if you so happen to still take BC after menopause
Dr Taylor, I have been following your videos religiously for some time now. I suffer with an under active thyroid and lately I have been feeling rather depressed. I am also 55. I do not want to take any antidepressants. Can you advise me on what to take that is herbal (natural) that might help me? Thank you. I also got distracted with your beautiful jewellery and had to start the video again. Also, how do you do to not get Bingo Wings (as they call them in England) in your arms??? They are great, by the way!
Maria, The most popular and most effective non-prescription herbal remedy for depression is St. John's Wort It's one of the few herbal therapies that has actually undergone scientific study extensively. The most common side effect is hypersensitivity to the sun. It' has a few benefits, such as decreasing inflammation and infection. Thank you so much for your compliment about my arms. I've never heard of "Bingo Wings." I've always just called it "Arm Jiggle." I lift very light baby weights, and do a lot of yoga. I'll be giving you a variety of exercise videos during my series, showing you all the exercises I've made up for myself. I'm a severe arthritic, and can't do the heavy-duty stuff that other people can do.
Frankly, I am overwhelmed by so many options so many products to choose from, after watching your series on all these hormones I am still confused as to what would be best for me. The Estrace creams here in the states are $334 without insurance and the progesterone is at a more reasonable cost especially with insurance.
Oh, I am so sorry for this tardy reply. The RU-vid comments on my end are supposed to line up all the new ones so that I don’t have to search for them one-video-at-a-time. And most of the time, it works. But occasionally (as in this case), a comment doesn’t appear in the line-up. I apologize profusely for the delay. Every so often, I scan back through old videos to see if there are any I haven’t answered. And, I found this one! You should know that I do respond to these comments daily, and I'm sorry for not answering you. I'm ashamed for not recognizing my failure to answer you for a WHOLE YEAR! In any case, if you've continued to watch my vides in order, you have learned a lot more since you watched this one. And you now know that it's not a matter of estrogen or progesterone. Nor are creams your only option. There are many layers to what you need to understand. The first is the differing roles of the hormones. There are three sex hormones: Testosterone, Estrogen, and Progesterone. The three hormones are like The Three Bears. You know how each bear had his or her own bed, chair, & porridge? Well, each hormone belongs to only one member of the family, just like each bed, chair, & bowl of porridge. Testosterone is the male hormone. It belongs to Papa Bear. Estrogen is the female hormone. It belongs to Mama Bear. Progesterone is the hormone of pregnancy. It belongs to Baby Bear. So, progesterone is NOT YOUR hormone. It's the baby's hormone. Pro -gester-one literally means "hormone in support of pregnancy). (Video 9) The ONLY reason you produce progesterone or ever needed progesterone was to support a pregnancy. While you have all three in your body, the one that your body depends on more than anything is estrogen. Progesterone’s only purpose before menopause is to support a pregnancy. Other than that, it has no other function. So, contrary to what most people assume, progesterone is not your hormone. It's for the baby. Each month, during your menstrual cycles, estrogen thickens the lining inside your uterus and progesterone keeps it thick and ready to cushion a baby should you get pregnant. If you don’t get pregnant, progesterone drops, making the thick uterine lining shed. (It’s like estrogen is the fertilizer and progesterone is the lawnmower.) Now that you're facing menopause, the ONLY reason to take progesterone is to protect your uterus from uterine cancer. Period. If you do not have your uterus, there's no reason whatsoever to take progesterone. And progesterone is the hormone that makes women feel yucky. It's the hormone that gives you all those awful symptoms of early pregnancy (nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, bloating, weight gain, acne, depression). And it's the hormone of PMS (moodiness, depression, bloating, cravings, etc.). So, given the fact that ESTROGEN i the critical hormone for women, your job is to learn how to COMPENSATE for loss of estrogen at menopause. Taking estrogen itself is the most efficient way to do that, but it's not the only option. And, if you do choose to take estrogen, you need to know that there are many things you need to take into consideration. In addition to the symptoms of menopause, estrogen loss is associated with increased risk of various diseases, including heart attack, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Hormone replacement therapy can prevent or reduce these diseases if (1) you take it in adequate dosages and (2) it travels throughout your entire body. Estrogen is the critical hormone for preventing the symptoms and diseases associated with menopause. Progesterone has nothing to do with it. The ONLY reason to take progesterone at menopause is to prevent uterine cancer. If you have your uterus, you need progesterone. If you don’t have your uterus, you can take estrogen alone. The trick is to weigh the benefits of each option against the risks of each option as they apply to YOU. Everything has both advantages and disadvantages. Nothing is entirely without risk. You must tailor all the information to your personal circumstance to determine what is most beneficial and least risky for you. I would love to have a one-on-one consultation with you to personalize all of this for you. If you want a consultation, go to MenopauseTaylor.ME to schedule one. I do them on Skype, FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, as well as in-person. You can include all the things you want to cover when you fill out the form, and then send me any labs or tests you've had. That way, I can incorporate everything into the session. I'll create a personalized document addressing all your concerns, and send it to you at least one day before our session. That way, you 'll have time to read it in advance. It's usually 6 - 12 pages long. Then, I'll have all sorts of props and models to show you during the consultation, and we'll make great headway. You'll understand everything and have all the options tailored specifically to YOU.
Such an education! I have watched all of the videos up to the Summary. One question I had was about different ways to get tested for what hormone deficiencies one may have, or is it mainly based on symptoms?
Maria, Did you have to get tested when you went through puberty? Why would you need testing for menopause? The symptoms are very specific to each deficient hormone. And, if you want me to help you know exactly which hormones are causing your symptoms, please schedule a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME. That way, you can be sure you're doing just the right thing FOR YOU.
Absolutely! I'm just too old to understand why anyone would want to see pictures that I took of myself or see what I'm doing. I'm too busy to even think about sharing what's going on in my boring little life with ... whomever.
Your physician knows nothing about menopause. DHEA is testosterone. Pregnenolone is a precursor to progesterone. If you take all these from the start, it will be impossible to get your estrogen right. Please consider scheduling a consultation with me at MenopauseTaylor.ME so that you go about this properly. I do them all online, and it's the only way I can tailor everything specifically to YOU.
Dr Barbie, I would like to make an appointment with you but need to talk before I book a flight from the east coast. I see where I can book on your website, but prefer booking by phone.
Omg I had a hysterectomy at 32 I m 44 and had my bloods done it showed I’m going through it, it’s a nightmare the night sweats the sweat dripping off your face, hair wet through with a constant fan on me, I have fibromyalgia too so it’s double whammy
If you watch these videos in order, you'll really, really do yourself a tremendous service for making the rest of your life better. But, if you really want to get the whole education (and it sounds like you need it pronto), you should attend my two-day seminar on February 10 and 11, or buy the DVD of the seminar, or get my book. They will all give you the whole picture of what you need to know. Your young age makes it critical for you to get all this information right away. It could literally save your life. Menopause is not about hot flashes. It's about heart attacks, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer's Disease. I'm here to help you prevent them all.
Dr Taylor, thank you for your reply. I look forward to seeing your exercise videos. I am Spanish living in London and that is what they call it here.....Bingo Wings....ha,ha,ha! 😘💐💐
Thank you very much Dr. Barbie for these wonderful videos. I am 47 and I'm not having any symptoms of menopause, except irregular periods. However, when I start having hot flashes, I would like to try Duavee (I suffer from depression and I fear progesterone). If I cannot take Duavee, then maybe I will take estrogen and take the smallest amount of progesterone to shed my uterus lining. Is progesterone really that bad, if you suffer from mental health issues or will I be able to take some of it without problems? Also, can I take Duavee for perimenopause or do I have to be post menopausal? Thanks a lot for your videos. May the Lord bless you.
Have you ever heard of Autoimmune Progesterone Dermatitis? Everytime my hormones are elevated I itch all over ..since I was 46. I am now 54. Now that my hormones are low or non existant no more itchy rash. Ive been tested for lots of things. I have done blood tests even for uteran cancer...which was negative. Ive read about it and it says its a rare disease genetic related. Could you please give me your advice?
Sandra, This is a rare entity. And I can help you address it in a consultation. The key is to weight the benefits & risk of rash against all the benefits and risks of hormones with regard to everything else. That's what we would do in a consultation.
Love your video series...very helpful! I must admit though, I am confused when it comes to Menopause and Soy. I've heard you shouldn't eat Soy if you are in Menopause because it greatly increases your risk for Breast Cancer. What are your thoughts?
Have you seen videos 25 through 30? In them, I give you all the facts about soy. That way, you can make your own decision. There is so much hype about soy, but once you learn the facts, you'll realize that no one has ever told you why you should be afraid of it. And once you know the facts, you'll wonder why there's so much hype about it. IN the end, you'll decide what makes the most sense to you. Go back to the source. Where dis you "hear" that soy increases your risk for breast cancer. The fact is that's completely untrue. In fact, the opposite is true. I'll be giving you a bunch of videos on breast cancer, but they're a long way off. If you can come to one of my seminars, do so. You'll get this entire menopause education in just two days. You'll know EVERYTHING you need to know to make good decisions about everything for the rest of your life.
I am probably going to get a "go back and rewatch" reply on this one but I am working my way through your videos and have an appointment with my OB/gyn on Tuesday to discuss HRT and don't recall seeing this. I have 3 symptoms on the list of testosterone deficiency and of the 3, 2 are pretty recent events (decreased sex drive and orgasmic difficulty). The only thing I take is estrogen vaginal cream for the vaginal dryness. Since progesterone is the chameleon hormone is it possible that taking either HRT or birth control pills would cause these two symptoms to either decrease or go away completely without the need for testosterone?
Tanya, You are a very good student! Both HRT and birth control pills will help with decreased sex drive and orgasmic difficulty. For most women, sex drive issues are due to decreases in both testosterone and estrogen. The progesterones ("progestins") in birth control pills range in terms of their "androgenic effect." In other words, some of them contain a progesterone that does many of the things that testosterone does. In your case, a pill that has a vey androgenic progesterone is likely to increase your sex drive (although it may also increase acne and whiskers). The names of these progestins with high androgenic activity are: Norethindrone Norethindrone acetate Ethnodiol acetate HRT products that contain any of these progestins will do the same for your sex drive, but the dosages of both the estrogen & the progesterone are much lower than the dosages in any birth control product. (I know this is a bit complicated, but it will help you get what you want.)
Thank you for your reply. I am working on my list of questions for my doctor and want to make sure I am informed before my visit. You have given me the confidence and information to make informed decisions and choices about My Menopause.
You are very welcome. And if you need me to explain anything or tailor anything just for you, schedule a one-on-one consultation with me. I do them in person, on Skype, on FaceTime, on Facebook Messenger. Just go to MenopauseTaylor.ME Many practicing doctors are minimally educated on this stuff. I'm here to help you get what you want.
Thanks again for taking time out to do these tutorials. .my mother is in her late 60s, away from weight gain she seems fine, very energetic too, should she be taking some form of hrt
When it comes to HRT, it depends on how long it's been since your mom's (1) last period or (2) last use of hormones. If it's been more than ten years, it's probably more risky than beneficial. If it's been less than ten years, it's probably more beneficial than risky. This ten year time from is called "The Estrogen Window." By taking HRT in the first ten years of post-menopause, you reduce your risk of heart attack, osteoporosis, andAlzheimer's Disease. That's why it's such a shame that women are so afraid of estrogen. Many of them spend all ten years being too afraid to take it, and then its too late.
I think she should use all the diet, lifestyle, vitamin, mineral, herbal, botanical, and non-hormonal options she needs to address each of her menopause symptoms. The most important things she can do are (1) Consume an all-plaint diet, (2) Exercise regularly, (3) Avoid smoking, (4) Lose weight, (5) Challenge her mind with games and continued learning, (6) Work on balance. All of this is in my book, my seminars, and will also be available in DVD and other on-demand formats within the next couple of weeks. Most women are shocked by the vast number of options available to them, regardless of their situation. I think your mom will be, too.
Where did you hear this? Here's the truth: High levels of estrogen change they way your thyroid functions, but not in a way that makes estrogen or soy dangerous or harmful to your thyroid. For instance, when a woman with thyroid disease gets pregnant, we check her thyroid hormone levels multiple times throughout her pregnancy. Why? Because the prince of high levels of estrogen alter the way her thyroid functions. She sometimes needs more or less thyroid hormone because of the high levels of estrogen. Soy does not produce high levels of estrogen. The strength of estrogen in soy is 1/100 to 1/1000 that of the estrogen in your body or the estrogen in a pharmaceutical product. Soy does not interfere with the way your thyroid functions. There are the facts. Many women develop thyroid problems at the time of menopause. The most common one is Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which is a form of hypothyroidism (slow-functioning thyroid). This does not interfere with their ability to take estrogen or ingest soy. But the two situations (menopause and hypothyroidism) do share many of the same signs and symptoms (fatigue, weight gain, dry skin). With menopause, you have hot flashes. With hypothyroidism, you have difficulty regulating your temperature and may be cold intolerant. I hope this helps.
You may ask, but you should not care what anyone else does. It's not YOUR menopause SOMEONE ELSE'S way. It's YOUR menopause YOUR way. I do take HRT, and have since I became post-menopausal at age 34. I am now 61 and I still take it.
@@MenopauseTaylor I heard on an alternative medicine channel that Soy can cause problems to the thyroid. I have no idea whether to believe them or not.
@@sarak6860 Don't believe them. Always go back to basics: The strength of estrogen in soy is 1/100 - 1/1000 of the strength of estrogen you had in your body. IF your own estrogen didn't cause problems for your thyroid, why would such a weak form of estrogen do so?
