This is F*CK'N EPIC! It should be the sound track for a series of action scenes in a sci-fi movie. There are multiple instances of sonic brilliance throughout. You were in the zone, Ehsan, Gelsi, like a bull rider that couldn't be thrown straddling sinewy waves of musical muscle; not only holding on but guiding the headlong rush of some mythical beast. There's a string of short riffs that appear out of nowhere that forge a symphony of lightning bolts that are hellbent to reach the center of the Universe. Creativity is the driving force that shines throughout this cinema for our ears. Ehsan is so inventive that he should be called the Edison -- no, the Tesla of modern electronic music!

Love your music man!!! Huge fan. I have a technical question... I have a Digitakt/Peak setup as well, but I'm having difficulty sending midi program changes (and bank changes) from my Digitakt to the Peak. I can use CC#32 to change the bank number, but this only seems to work when I start and stop the Digitatk. If I switch from Pattern #1 to Pattern #2, the program and bank changes don't recognized... You've obviously figured this out... what am I doing wrong?? Thanks in advance!

It gives me huge pleasure that I might inspire you to go and fire up the machines and get musical mate! So, I plugged the gear in on Friday after dinner with the idea in my head, wrote 6 of the pieces on Saturday morning, the other 4 on Sunday afternoon, and recorded it on the Monday evening after work. So all up probably about 5 or so hours of composition, another hour of tidying up and doing a practice run, then the easy part of doing the recording and uploading. :) Thanks for stopping by!

How much post-production editing do you do? The quality is outstanding. I use an all-hardware setup as well, and the mix always seems to get muddy and crowded very quickly. Maybe I've got too many instruments within the same frequency range, or not enough panning? Anyway, I always enjoy your jams. Great stuff.
@EhsanGelsi
@EhsanGelsi 5 лет назад
Cheers! I do very little! There is no editing whatsoever - the whole thing, video and audio is one unedited live take top to bottom into my Zoom Q2n camera. I then pop the resultant file into a video editor, do a master limit and eq, sometimes a stereo width treatment, sort out any buzz weirdness if there is any on the 2 track with a fade in and out, do a quick grade on the video then spit it out. It's all done in the video software, so pretty basic stuff. My little mixer doesn't have EQ, and everything on the mixer is panned dead center. I do panning within the Takt and the Tone, and the CMS gets a nice stereo spread from the Strymons. Like you say, you can really program your sounds to work with and around each other from just within the synths - that's what I do - helps with the fact I'm not using per-channel EQ. As ever, it's a neverending process. Good luck out there! :)

Heya! Indeed as Daeman says, it's all just straight into the puny little Behringer mixer (check out my How? video to see exactly, er, how) - no eq, no nothin, straight out the headphone output (heh) into my little Zoom Q2n line input, which records the video and audio at the same time. A bit of a 2-track spit and polish and that's it! Whole thing takes about 25 minutes from the moment I press stop to the moment it's on the internet. Nothin fancy! Thx for stopping by, appreciate you taking the time to tune in, it means a lot! :)
@alexstroud3615
@alexstroud3615 5 лет назад
You got to bear in mind this is electronic music. The sounds being played are already perfect. It's very different to recording music acoustically (like rock/metal etc) where theres huge amounts of post production that needs to be done.

Hey Ehsan! I've just come across your channel and I'm blown away by these performances. You've sold me on the Takt and I've only just got my first hardware synth! Quick question - How do you go about composing each section in regards? Do you plug in a midi keyboard and just create your own midi and then save it to each sequence and then use whatever synth to play your midi?
@EhsanGelsi
@EhsanGelsi 4 года назад
Hey Chris! Thanks for tuning in, I appreciate your kind words. Regarding the composition workflow, I just plow through, one section at a time - it's usually written with a MIDI controller - indeed this set was. The Digitakt has a great Auto Channel feature which makes it super easy to just punch in the ideas straight through the Digitakt and into any connected synths. Basically just like you say. There is a video called 'How?' on my channel and another called 'Let's try to write some tunes' which go into detail. Any questions, just holler :)

@@EhsanGelsi Thank you! I'm trying to work out a future setup with what I have now. Would it be possible to use something like the Mono station to sequence my DM12 Synth, the takt to sequence some drums, and also sequence the Mono station's own synth at the same time? If not on the mono station itself but perhaps routed to the takt? Basically I want to get a setup going with some drums, a synth for bass, DM12 for chords, mono station for some lead lines or something? I'll certainly check those videos out too. Were all 6 sound sources playing a particular audio role through the set? I'm guessing the 'Takt was drums, MonoSt for lead, Peak for Bass / chords / growls. Couldn't quite work out what Digitone and the 2 Circuit synths main roles were. Chords and confetti? :) Brilliant set. Being playing it non-stop on my commutes all this week.
@EhsanGelsi
@EhsanGelsi 5 лет назад
Thanks mate! So they sorta stay in their lanes thru the set, but as ever some synths play multiple roles. Basically: Takt = drums, Tone = glass sounds, percussive synths, and mid-range thunk basses, as well as some acid sounds (p-locks, yay!). CMS is all the acid, the Circuit is the sub bass and animated chordal things, Peak is mostly poly sounds, but then does giganto bass in 3 or so tunes, so swaps about a bit. :)

@EhsanGelsi
@EhsanGelsi 5 лет назад
Heya! The envelope faders won't represent the actual shape being sent to the filter, because the patch has been recalled and the fader positions are stored in memory - so it's not live-reading the faders! It's just a straight up env-filter with a BEOW shape and plenty of resonance. Super easy - you can do it! DON'T replicate the fader positions, they'll send you in the wrong direction!
