At last, someone not afraid to reveal their body measurements a big thumbs up. We are not all a copy of Lisa Comfort as lovely as she is. Can I ask, the Charlie Kaufman, which I love the look of, but have been put of by how gaping the sleeves look. Did you find that to be the case. Yours looks great and has given me the impetus to sew all these lovely, more comfortable styles for a 67 year old lady. Thanks for your hard work. Keep it up
Thanks so glad you enjoyed! Im 48 next month and more comfortable in my body than I was 30 years ago when I was much slimmer! I love the Charlie and I didn't and the sleeves gaping on me. Its a perfect style!
I just had a birthday in May, 73 this year. I love to make my own clothes. Getting harder each year to look appropriate for my age. I like a sleeve and below my knees too.
@@glendamartin7249 Me too at 76, I’m not not much of a sewer, but I’m really eager to try. I also like a sleeve and a longer length dress, I feel it’s age appropriate for me and my shape. Thank you, Kristen your doing a great job, in giving us ladies some great ideas. I love the way you model these beautiful dressers. 😉
Nice parade ! !!!!!. I can't wait to do the same with all that I have sewn during the absence on Hubby. But. ......still waiting for planes. ........ Thank you Kristen 👋 💟
Hello! You are so very skilled and smart about your fabrics and shapes that work well for you in your pattern selections! I find each of your videos so refreshing. Sincerest thanks for all the videos you share with us. You are sincerely my favorite YT'er. :)
CONGRATULATIONS! You've just won a free pdf pattern of the "BELEMNITE DRESS" from Marilla walker! Please contact me at thedahliasewciety@gmail.com to obtain your prize!!!!
Always love your videos and I agree with Marie’s comment, that I’m so thankful that you share your sizing. I’m a very similar size and really really love seeing all of your makes - both because they’re beautiful and because I can so clearly picture what they might look on me, too. Really love seeing your Alice dress. I just made a toile in the shirt version and the gathers made it a bit too full looking on me but I love the lines and see that a dress version might be just what I need, as the extra weight of the longer fabric might pull those down in a bit more flattering way. Gorgeous lighter fabric like you used, too, will help, I’m sure. All that to say thank you, thank you for all the details you provide!
Hi Kirsten, you really have encouraged me to try some dresses now 👍. All yours are fantastic and I think my favourite styles are the Charley Caftan and the Fringe Dress, but they were all gorgeous 💟💟💟😁👌😘
CONGRATULATIONS Sally! You've won a free craft bag compliments of Minerva!!! please contact me for details on how to claim, love Kristen thedahliasewciety@gmail.com
Lovely makes - now if we could only have some Melbourne summer weather in the UK. I used to work with a few Aussies from Melbourne (on a mining project) and they could never understand why we couldn’t plan a bbq weeks ahead until they had experienced a few UK summers......layering is a necessity. I love your Charlie caftan and fringe dress. Also I’ve eyed up the Alice dress/top a few times now. I love my boiled wool Berlin jacket. I’ve just made the myosotis dress but drafted my own sleeves as too many ruffles. Love your vlogs.
I have some of these dresses but haven’t made them yet they all look great on your and now I want them all.😜 looked this topic and look forward to the next season.
Wow! What an incredible lineup of beautiful dresses. Every single time, with.the reveal of each new dress, I would say to myself, "Oh, I love the fabric on that dress! It suits her perfectly, that's my favourite dress." Your patterns are great, but the fabrics you have chosen just take what is already a lovely dress to the next level. Your coloring and those of your fabrics are perfectly suited. Wonderfully done makes!
I love the Lois dress. But I really love the fabric you've chosen. I wish I could get it for myself. I have the pattern but am afraid to actually start it. Thank you so much for your dress selections. You have such fantastic taste.
CONGRATULATIONS! You've just won a free pattern from Dhurata Davies patterns! Please contact me to obtain your prize, Kristen xx thedahliasewciety@gmail.com
I’m over winter already. Maybe I should start my summer wardrobe already.. Love how all of these look. I’ve made the style arc Montana midi twice and get compliments every time I’ve worn them. So comfy and cool especially in rayon. I made them after you mentioned them in another video. Thanks for the inspiration!
The Dahlia Sew-ciety ☀️☀️☀️☀️ ☀️ Kristen I love how you have your measurements on your videos now. Would you mind mentioning on your videos what size you make for the patterns you are mentioning? It would really help me to decide what size to make for myself. ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Do I see a bit of a haircut? Lucky you! I’m into about week 20 since my last visit to the hairdressers! We aren’t allowed to go till 4th July so I have my appt booked for 5th! Loved the vlog - you’ve given me some great ideas...Diana
Oh theres nothing better than a fresh cut and colour! I'm so lucky to have a best friend who's a hairdresser so she comes to my house to do it! I haven't seen her since Feb so I was so happy!
I loved all of your dresses especially the first one, the mustard coloured one. Way back in the seventies I made a maximum dress when they first became popular, I believe I was the first one in my grade 8 class to wear one. I loved maxis then and I love them now.
The mustard color is a great color for you.. It really made your blue eyes pop. All of these dresses are beautiful. I love the flow of each of them. I hadn't thought of wearing a top under them for Winter. Great idea! Thank you for listing all of the links. I will be following up on them soon.
Love the dresses. I have made the Montana twice now. The first one in a woven which looked like a tent. The second was a knit which I did 2 sizes smaller which I was happier with xx
Love all of your dresses, the styles and fabric choice is so great on you. The Mustard linen looks so good with your skin tone and eye colour. Thanks for the inspiration 😊
I love the concept of looking back over a season to show what you really liked and got good use out of. Your dresses were all beautiful and gorgeous on you. You really know your style. Love your hair too!
Love the mustard color on you, I’ve got that pattern book , along 15+ patterns I’ve got yet too sew! Love all the fabrics you’ve chose for your patterns
Goodness, can’t pick a favourite, all lovely you look gorgeous in all of them! That third dress, the Montana I think, I made a blouse in that pattern but I’m losing weight on Keto and it ended up way too big so I’m trying to ‘ fix’ it as I love the fabric. I want to wear more dresses this summer, can’t wait! Maybe I’ll start on summer dresses now spring will be here before we know it.
Thank you for responding with your measurements. I just received the Style Arc “Montana”. I’m going to make it in size 14 lightweight linen. This will be my first time using a Style Arc pattern.
Great round up Kristen. I agree that the test of a good patterns is how it wears over time. My fave of these is the Lois. I have a couple. And now you have pointed me toward the magnolia which looks like it ticks all the right boxes for me too. Thanks! However I am looking at this video in the depths of Melbourne winter. If I was actually in summer, I think I would definitely want to wear the Fringe. Thanks again!
What a fantastic video. Really informative. I love your fabric choices but you looked most beautiful in that red one! Subscribed immediately and will binge watch now!
I’ve just really got into sewing during lockdown and came across your channel. Love watching your videos. I made the Montana dress as my first garment attempt and I’m really pleased with it. As a beginner I found the instructions a bit sparse but you tube is a godsend. Burrito method!!! So easy. The tessuti Alice dress is definitely one I want to make as well as the top version. I’m also going to make the peppermint top you made. 🇬🇧❤️❤️
I'm new to the sewing ladies and I just found you tonight! I like all the dresses you have made and I plan to follow you, if the stars are aligned for computer passwords, etc. You do beautiful work.... Sandy
Beautiful dresses, I loved them all , I have never seen the Tessuti Alice made up before ,it’s certainly a stunner what fabric did you use for it ? The colours are glorious! Karen R
Lovely fashion show! Love all the dresses and they look so nice on you. I think I might need to go see a new dress 😂 can't wait to see the knit dresses. Thank you for sharing! ❤
I love all your dresses on you . You’ve chosen such gorgeous fabrics for them all. I bought the fringe dress pattern yesterday and am printing it out to get started on today ❤️
The Fringe is one of my favorites too! I have made a top, a short dress, and a maxi-length dress. I have made a Wiksten shift top, but haven’t made the dress version yet. I would like to try it and the Cielo dress from linen for this summer. I loved this video and look forward to the rest in this series.
Great vlog Kirsten. The dresses are gorgeous! I have two of these lined up ready to make - the Fringe Dress and The Nova. I also plan to do the Charlie Kaftan in the next few weeks. So this has been very inspirational 😍❤️
🤣) Hello, I love the alice dress and this fabric too !!! I would like to buy this fabric, but where ? May be it has a "name" and it woul be possible to seek and buy it in France ? Thank you very much for showing us all these dresses and these gorgeous fabrics
Love, love the fabric choices..! Really nice. I do need to sew up some fabrics that would lend themselves to dresses. Good ideas. Don't know what your lighting is, but it appears to bother your eyes and is very bright on your eyes. Only when you look away from the camera can we see your beautiful blue color. Maybe switch out that light to something a little less harsh on the eyes. Just sayin'.
Yes, it is! I'm sure spotlight still have it! I'll link it for you xx www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/dress-apparel-fabrics/woven-apparel-fabrics/rayon/pretty-pressed-printed-rayon-fabric/BP80491563
I'm a bit of a novice and I'm a bit afraid of working with the rayon... It doesn't seem to wash and dry well.. even line dried.. what are your thoughts?..
