I have been shot at twice hunting on "Public Land" in MT in the 80's and MT is a 400 square inch Blaze Orange state. Stay vigilant when your in the public woods... Great advice, good load out. Ruger 357 is an excellent choice of a walking around in the woods gun.

Good video. Back in the day as an 18th century long hunter reenacting we used tump lines to carry a bed roll. Today a wide leather belt could be used (also used as a strop for knife) to disperse weight across the shoulder. Bedroll would be wrapped in a light-weight oil cloth (today a silicone/nylon tarp) used as a ground cloth/shelter.

@@randalllybarger5625 nice the tum lines are great and im innovating a few now to see if the concept i want is obtainable. I think it will be of interest to the 2024 woodsman. As for the oil cloth i usually wrsp mine up insofe rhe bedroll allowing rhe bed tick to tske the brunt of the world around it. Simply due to how often i use mine and cost. Replace bed tic=30$ + shipping Replace worn doen or burned through/ briar sliced waxes csnvas tarp=275$+shipping. What are your thoughtd on a canvas strapped tump lime worh leather center cor comfort?

All of us have our different camping firearms. In the woods I like the Bond Arms Grizzle Derringer in the 45 long Colt or 410 shotgun shells ( 2 1/2 inch ones ) It's concealable so no one knows it is along with me. The shotgun shells are available in all sorts of shot sizes. There is even buckshot and a home defensive round with a 41 projectile and a couple of 36 cal balls included in each shell. A wide variety of different rounds to draw from. I like to refer to it as my hand held shotgun.

@@Oldsparkey lol mad max. 45 lc is an interesting round. I woulent wat to get hit with it. Do you run hot loads or the cowboy loads? Ive never seen em full loaded

@Oldsparkey
@Oldsparkey Месяц назад
@@offthecouch1999 I like and use the Cowboy Rounds for the 45. Shot shells ( #9's or 7 1/2 ) for the 410. The derringer is loaded with the 45 lower barrel since it is dead on with the top sights. The 410 shot shell in the top since that shoots a little high and shot does not need to be dead on.

I like that bedroll idea. I don't typically go for long hikes or camp anymore, however if I do decide to do an overnight I'll have to try your bedroll. Thanks for sharing.
