Summer Lemonade Recipe from Popular Lebanese Bakery

Lemonade is usually good. This one is great. Make it for your next gathering, for Easter and all through the Summer.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 C Lemon Juice
1 1/2 C Granulated Sugar - more or less depending on your taste
8 cups water (3 hot, 5 cold)
1/2 t Orange Blossom Water
1/4 t Rose Water
Pinch of Salt
Ice
Combine lemon juice, cold water and salt. Disolve sugar in hot water and stir to cool. Add to lemon mixture, then stir in Rose and Orange Blossom Waters. Enjoy over ice.
*If fresh lemon juice is not available, Santa Cruz and Lakewood brands are available at most grocery stores.
**Orange Blossom and Rose Water are less than $5.00 at markets near me. Be sure are minimal. Artificial and preserved waters won't render the same taste.

A new spice store (with nuts and turkish delight freshly made and all sorts of other middle eastern goodies) has just opened up near me in Sydney. Hopefully I'll find both rose water and orange blossom water there. I've made lemonade before and was going to start making carbonated lemon squash using the ginger/sugar bug method I've been experimenting with. BUT... I've just been diagnosed as diabetic. I totally have to rethink my cooking ideas. I wonder how well this lemon drink would work if I used monk-fruit sugar instead? I've only tried monk-fruit sugar once so far and it was tolerable. I think I'll need to research a bit more. In the meantime, thanks for sharing this recipe. It sounds fab.

It has a bitter taste, start by using a tea spoon of it and add gradually more if you find you want more. We use it in preparing the syrup of sweets in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine. It’s famous in this region of the ME. If you want the taste of lemon more concentrated, I advise you cut the lemon into quarters, add sugar on the top, and leave it in the fridge overnight. On the next day, it will be so soft and tender. squeeze it with your hand to get as much as possible of its fluids. Then add water, rose water, blossom water, with ice cube and enjoy.
