Summer Splice: 1960 Chevy "Biscala": Let's See if They Fit? 

Hi guys! Thanks for tuning in! This week we're going to keep going on the 1960 Chevy Impala I bought from Tom a couple of years ago... I have a Chevy Biscayne sedan for a donor, and it is time to see if we can save the Impala by grafting it to the bottom of the solid Biscayne! I did a 1960 Plymouth Fury a few years ago, so it'll be a similar job, overall... This week we'll finish prepping the 2 big pieces and try landing the top of the Impala on the bottom of the Biscayne... A guy that lives in the condo next door came over for a beer yesterday and saw my CWM calendar. He watches each CWM video also. Guess what we talked about for the next two hours? Instant friendship! 🍻 and I LOVE the calendar. 👊

1972 I had a wife and 2 kids so needed something. found a 60 chevy station wagon for 20 bucks. fixed it up and used it for 4 years. sold it for 200 bucks when it got to rusty. great car to drive in traffic. NO one tried to bully me for a lane. I am enjoying this restoration very much.

That accellerated quickly! It is a sure sign of a skilled crew when the lot of you could communicate so well in a form of short hand all could understand. That was amazing to watch!

Al was instrumental on the 60 Fury as I recall. He's GREAT help !!! Of course so are the others !!! The entire crew on this channel are truly exceptional !!! That, in itself, it the biggest factor in why this channel is the absolute best automotive related channel (if you like original "quality early USA made automotive iron) along with some quality foreign specimens of the same (profit, not absolute greed) corporate period. I have never done any body work. I'm still an expert because I never miss an episode of CWM.

So if you're new here and watched since the beginning of the "Biscala" splice and asked yourself, "How in the hell - - - - ?" Well now you know, and the amazing part is one guy has the vision and three others jump in to make it happen. (Make that 4, I saw Jim at the end jockeying the nose in while Matt slacked in the background.) Props to the camera work catching the key fitments too. Oh, I still ask that question too, how in the hell - - - ?

It was like watching them roll down the assembly line in the old GM factory films. :D I've watched a lot of Discovery channel car shows and I figure you should have this wrapped up in a couple more episodes. I can't wait... Cheers and all the best from the shed.

If I hadn't watched the Fury splice, I'd be thinking: "How in this ever going to work?!?" A two door Impala spliced onto a four door Biscayne? But I watched and enjoyed how that gorgeous Fury came together and I know this Bicala will be just as gorgeous! Thanks for your channel!

Absolutely fantastic! I really like how you are doing the A post splice. My only critique is that you missed out on the perfect opportunity to set that Impala body on a late model unibody chassis. You would get huge performance gains with front wheel drive and a fuel injected v6, plus a nice modern interior with plastic dash and high back bucket seats...not to mention the safety benefits of a collapsible steering column and air bags. So many have gone down the wrong path by trying to recomission 60+ year old parts for their classics. People need to embrace the modern bodyswap because nothing says style, comfort, reliability and safety like a flimsy old car body haphazardously welded on top of a 2015 Camry with a large portion of its unibody structure removed. RESTOMODZ 4 LIFE BRO!!!!

I am on week 4 of trying to do bodywork on lower quarters to get them good enough for primer then bad paint... you will have this car on the road before i put on color at this point :)

After seeing you build that car, I KNOW you'll have the Impala as sharp as a tack. And a big pat on the back to Ash, Myles and Al for their help. I wish I had more friends like you guys!

I love your “it’s a lovely Sunday when normal people would be doing something nice and we’re here under the Impala.” If being abnormal is what caused you to fix and doll up the two R5s, then stand firm on being abnormal! The black one looks particularly nice with the 3-broad-spoked wheels!

I really dig these splice series. I am learning a lot about how cars are built, and also that literally anything can be saved!

SO satisfying seeing two halves from different cars, assembled sixty-four years ago, likely in different plants, joined together as one. I get it that leaving the rear glass in place helped keep the upper half from racking, but, man was I nervous! Wondering if Scott considered a repop trunk floor? Had the perfect opportunity to drop one in while topless. Maybe not in the budget. Maybe not Scott's style. Gonna love following this project!

I can't believe i'm watching panelbeating on the car i used to have a 1:43 toy car version (from Corgi toys) i must have been 7 or 8 yo. That car was a black n white police car sedan but that rear end, NO other car had those cool fins and those 3 rear lights. Isn'tit amazing that our biological computer in our head remembers stuf like that?!😂
