In this edition of Novation Live, Enrique introduces the new firmware update that's available for our polysynth duo - Summit and Peak. Focusing on Peak, Enrique will be showcasing some of the powerful new tools firmware v2.0 brings.
In the biggest update yet for Summit and Peak, Firmware v2.0 brings in essential improvements and a multitude of features across stereo controls, modulation, unpredictability, and effects, that give you powerful tools to shape your sound.
You will now be able to create bigger, wider, and more intricately textured soundscapes with updated stereo controls. Experiment with expansive sound design with modulation and unpredictability. A range of effects improvements brings new tonalities with the addition of Chorus Modes, Flanger, Phlanger, new effects modulation destinations and Lo-Fi delay

I love the fact that Novation is dedicated to this line and actively improving it. The business model is what really keeps people coming back for more. Hydra is doing this as well as Arturia, the bigger companies should take note. Thanks for your time.

Noise (set as LFO shape) as a source is one of my fav things on the Hydrasynth. Its GREAT that we have it on the Peak now! Thanks for the great update :)

@@PastMidnight Not entirely true. You can choose NOISE as an LFO shape. Therefor sending noise, as a source, to a destination. So no sadness required :)

You could already send noise almost anywhere by using a S+H LFO at super high speed (which is basically noise) and sending it somewhere in the mod matrix or using the pre-routed modulation knobs. Of course the filtering of the noise is amazing and you can't do that with an LFO, but with an LFO you can slightly turn the LFO speed back down which alters the character of the noise it creates in cool ways

Just a great update. Animate envelopes, stereo field trickery and new mod destinations are definitely the highlights for me. Please never stop giving us weird and wonderful mod destinations. I would especially like to be able to modulate arp controls (Gate/Rhythm/Tempo). Also Osc3FilterMod if we don't have it already I should check.

Wow this is really great, especially the voice spread feature - makes any sound have life. Was thinking of returning the summit if no bug fixes or stereo-widening features such as this got released - really glad to see you guys pulled through!

Buying a Summit tomorrow! Noise as mod source is great! Please add resonance diverge to the list for a future update. This way we could get control over the 2 filter resonances independently, like it is for filter frequency.

Oops, I did not mean diverge. I mean separation, I would like to set different resonance values for each filter. Just purchased the Summit BTW. Thanks!

Very nice video. The noise modulation source is something I really wanted for my Summit and it’s finally here! Took some time before we got this update but that’s ok. There are reasons for everything in life. Never doubted Novation addressing bugs or giving us new features. I’m at the moment far away from my Summit and will be for the next three weeks but look forward to update it when I’m home. Nice to watch these deep dive videos while waiting, very inspiring :)

Sweet i missed this, i got to update my peak. The fact that novation updates synth that are not brand new anymore and gives the consumer ongoing added fetureas, gives me alot of confidence in the company, when companies do that, i always buy more from them knowing i will be taken care of in the future and they are not just selling something and then abandoning the customers after they get sales, thanks Novation! The peak remains one of my favorite synths I have!

Purchased the peak 2 yrs ago and I knew I will take my hands on a Summit some day. Last week it happened and I thought I will sell my Peak. Hell no.. Both are gorgeous instruments, I’ll keep them both. :)

Great update! Thanks! I think the question about env sync makes more sense with the looping envs instead of the animate envs. We can sync lfo rate to bpm but we can't easily sync looping env rates to bpm. It's a beautiful synth engine regardless

I know in the past Ricky has done some videos discussing how to setup polyphonic LFOs so that they're not the same phase, it usually involved quite a bit of manual entropy from the sound designer (to say the least). I'm wondering if there was any enhancements to that such that it's a little less manual?

Hi Ricky Thank You for this video Finally We've got the noise mod. I still have hope for a user arp, and some arp mod like in my Virus Ti2. About the pan mod. I'm a bit disapointed. Did you found a way to get more extreme results ?

Noise as a source is awesome. Chipz sounds, and almost degraded cassette sounds. Maybe, for firmware V3, Novation could add all kinds of variations of digital and pseudo random noise sources. Oh, and a kind of micro Strymon Magneto cassette tape delay wow/flutter effect pleeeeeese?

This update addresses some bugs that persisted for 2 years and ignores others, that still exist. The new features are certainly a welcome addition, especially something as rudimentary as panning (even though i was hoping for OSC-, not voice-based panning) but the summit still creates a comb filter effect when changing the FX routing to anything else than "parallel". It has been reported to support dozen of times by multiple users throughout the past years and they actually don't hesitate to inform you that it is a "feature" or error by design, so to speak. The summit will always be a love/hate relationship due to quite a few questionable design quirks and terribly slow-paced update intervals.

gotta admit, this update is GREAT! LOVE LOVE LOVE the Cue Patch Change option. HUGE. question: I have issues with my Animate buttons. from the day I opened the box. 2 is finicky, it won't come on OR it locks on, and the only way to turn it off is by pressing 1. Animate will initiate 2 sometimes as well. thinking that there is a bit of "something" between the contacts. but there is no way to gain access. assuming the screws are hidden under the rubber on the bottom. temped to get in there and fix it especially sine there is more reason to use the animates. advice? thanks. update is AWESOME.

There isn't a "Rate" control but we have added a High-pass noise filter, to match Summit, which can be found in the Osc menu with the existing Low-pass noise filter.

Yeah I don’t think that’s possible without adding a hardware CODEC to convert to digital. Hopefully I’m wrong about that, though.

great info...... but i am 2 years late and today 1st june 2024....just updated my Summit..... it says successful but shows ver 126.618 on the Summit window.... is this correct?..... was lookin for a 2.2. my computer shows Update successful and says...... 'Your Summit is running V-custom , Build 2126 , Fpga:778.' ....... am i missing somethings?....... plse enlighten....thanks!
