World Cup winner in 2023 with the Australian Diamonds, netball rising star Sunday Aryang is among some of Australia’s most inspiring women who are raising their voices to empower 1,000 girls.
Sunday is the first African-born Australian to play netball at the international level. Her parents emigrated to Australia from Ethiopia to escape conflict when Sunday was a young child. Her parents’ bravery inspires her to strive for excellence and she is proud to represent women of colour fighting for a seat at the table.
In this video, Sunday raises her voice for girls by sharing the story of Tumaini, from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Tumaini was forced to run for her life to the sound of gunshots in her village. What hurts her the most is imagining other children who can go to school.
World Vision is calling on Australians to join Sunday in our movement to sponsor 1,000 girls by 11 October, International Day of the Girl. You can help rewrite the story of a vulnerable girl. #1000girls
