Sunday String-Along, 12.31.23 (“Expect More in '24”) 

What a beautiful string along. I also lost a great friend in August, and that first song brought back great memories and tears. We played at nursing homes, wakes. He played "harmonica's". He was one of the best chord harmonica players ever. He has played with the greatest harmonica players and all around the world. What a blessing to run into him at my Mom's assisted living in 2018. We've been together till his passing. I played guitar, and to hear the beautiful chromatic on songs like Till there was you, Yesterday etc, was a real treat. Praise God in all circumstances. Thank You both for today's "Sunday 🎶 String 🎵Along🎸"

Well, I just shed my first tears of 2024. I often called my daughter, Melissa, who passed away December 1st, “My only blue-eyed baby girl,” because she was the only one of my four children who had my blue eyes. 😢

The years pass all too quickly. It doesn’t feel like it was all that long ago I would go to as many of your Taylor workshops as I could and Hayley, Hiedi, and Caleb would be tagging along… and then performing with you. I would often bring friends knowing they’d hear the gospel as well as your gifted playing.

A precious service very uplifting. Doyle, you have beautiful children and grandkids. You are very blessed. Doyle, Please keep my sister Brenda Bonsall of Elkton, MD in your prayers. She had a heart attack. She is going to Johns Hopkins on Friday. They are going to try and put stents in her heart. If that doesn't work they will have to do open heart surgery on her. Please pray they don't have to do surgery and that she gets well soon. Thank you for everything. God bless you and your family this year.

Nice to meeting Heidi. I live in Switzerland, not that far away from “Heidiland”. My two loves as a kid were the Western TV shows and Heidi and I have been fortunate enough to live in the USA and in Switzerland even though I am a Brit. What a beautiful Wallace guitar!

Hi Doyle, Happy New Year from the UK! So great to see you with another of your daughters today. I loved the slightly chaotic SSA too, it reminds me that sometimes our lives are a little chaotic but God knows the Big picture……the overall picture today was one of blessing given out and received! I loved the Habakkuk analogy too…….someone once preached about the different skill sets of the heralds (Runners). Some are great initiators (sprinters), others are marathon runners, others are steeplechasers (not scared of obstacles)…….to everyone, whatever YOUR skill set, GO, RUN FOR HIM!!

Thank you Doyle for the beautiful songs and playing…. When I listen to your music , I feel much closer to God and the Truth.. And yes it is very healing..❤ Happy New Year to all

What an awesome moment. Yes there is nothing wrong with sleep! It’s called temporary resting in the Lord when hearing your music and strum alongs. It brings me much peace from within sir Doyle. Doyle, I just recently lost my wife of 34 years. She was a great Christian and I know I'll see her again. Part of my grieving process has been a lot of thinking, remembering and praying while listening to music. That's how I discovered you. I want you to know your music ministry helps heal those that are hurting. I didn't/don't want sympathy - I just wanted to tell you that God is using you in a wonderful way to share Him with others. God bless you and your sweet family 🙏❤️

I understand and I feel I have just lost my nephew that is five years old in Gainesville Florida. It was heartbreaking to watch my sister upset about her grandson, but we gathered together and held hands and prayed that he went to our heavenly father.

Thanks Doyle (and whanau), for another year of beautiful music from the heart and mind. I'm continually delighted and inspired by your arrangements, playing and singing.

Heidi was very young (two or three?) when she asked her Dad to bring her a white rose - one time before he was heading out to perform somewhere 'out-of-town.' By the time that particular show ended, Doyle realized he would have to disappoint his little girl. Where would he find the "White Rose for Heidi"? (From memory imperfect) that's when, like an answer to a prayer, a lady Doyle didn't know approached him to say she'd been guided to bring him something “from her garden.” (Doyle wondered if it was something edible?) You can guess what it was! And after that little “white rose miracle” that woman became a good friend of the Dykes family and Heidi grew up to be a beautiful, talented musician in her own right. Love this show, not least for your rendition of AFTER YOU'VE GONE -- recalling Chet's version (my favorite) with Suzy Bogguss.
