+zeke_got _beatz They can take a good amount of power, but for any sub its really best if you don't put more then 500watts over rated power so your sub can have a longer life span, well unless you have the money to buy re cones all the time then you can dump as much power you want into them. lol
for those of you who don't know the brand Sundown Audio - i have 2 of the SA-8s 500RMS running on 1200 watts RMS... in my Scion... and they hit like old school 12s. the X-8s i can only imagine how much harder they hit being 750 watts instead. This brand/quality is Top Notch! Shout out to Mr Price: congratulations on your Marriage! 2023.
I was thinking about doing 4 8s in my 2020 ram 1500. You think 4 sav3 8s would sound close to the same as 4 u8s? I would like the x8s but don't think I would have enough air space. I can get around 2.9cu internal under my seat
@@johnnypiper1717 4 sa8s would be siick! be sure they have sufficient power to them. underseat truck enclosures... with sufficient cu is subjective... we are limited to how much we can cram underneath...
@@johnnypiper1717 today in my F150 i have: 2 SA10's in a Fox Acoustics enclosure on a Sundown 1500.1 and it rattles the roof! it also has the big 3 upgrade as well as a DC3400 battery in back. They fire downwards, ported out passenger side. you don't have to worry about someone kicking your speakers when crawling into the back seat.
@digdeep0169 nice I'm sure those 10s sound really good. Yeah I wanted to do 4 DD 2508s but I'll be cutting it close with the amount of space i have. Might jus do the 4 DD 1506s in my truck cuse I was told by gatley audio I would need a 3" seat lift to do 4 8s in my 20 Ram which is way up there lol I might as well take my seats out if the back headrest is gonna be touching the roof. Plus I think 4 of those 1506s super charged in the correct size box on a m2000 will sound better than me trying to cram 4 8s In a ported box that is a little to small.
Which sub can get down lower? I'm looking for an 8inch that'll get down and sound good on music. I'm into spl, but I don't want to sacrifice bandwidth.
Pretty crazy 8s. Does SD use that motor for other sized subs or is this the only one? With a low enough mms I bet it could make for some great low cost low power 15s or even 18s.
I got two diff SAv3 8"s..... One has the same exact tinsel leads as this X does and has the Sundown Sav3 Lazer etched into the motor... My other SAv3 8" has single Flat XL tinsel leads they are huge but not doubled just one per lead very wide and has heavy duty gauged wire braded. And it doesn't have the Lazer etched back.... But both are D4s.. it's weird lol
the SA surround looks like it should be on the X and vice versa. would love to see the X8 with a beefy spare tire lookin ass surround if they come out with a v4
Why don't sundown make a dual 4 ohm 15v3 I plan on adding another so instead of running a salt 6 at .5 ohm I'm gonna have to run 2 salt 3ks at 1 ohm and gain match them is there a better way to do it I don't want to run half ohm
Can anyone comment on the SQ of the 8's please? I have the SA-12 and I think it does SQ fine, in fact I ditched my JL W6v3 in favour for the SA's SQ. But I don't know anything about the 8's.
+utubecomment21 There are subs made for sound quality purposes those types of subs have a different voice coil resting height, these subs the SA and X 8 are mainly used in SPL hammering bass setups, but really any sub can be used in sound quality builds you just gotta have the right box for the sound you want.
MazdaBass971 I'm in no way into SPL, however the SA-12 is still very impressive at SQ, hence it replaced my former so-called SQ sub. I don't think the labels we as consumers place an item has much to do with the reality of acoustics, once all the factors have been added, ... and I'm talking far beyond the sub, or some fancy PWK designed enclosure. I do have the tiny Hybrid i6sw which on it's own is a great SQ sub, however for me the SA-12 is equally impressive, and can stop on a dime as well as the i6sw. I know people nowadays want to throw 3 gazillion watts into their Funky Pups! Just wondered if anyone uses their SA-8, with the view not to add yet another obligatory flex video to RU-vid, and would give a more balanced view on a more moderate approach. Thanks for the reply though, i do appreciate the input :)
does all sundown audio speakers make that paper noise at faster frequncies 40- 60 hhz ? i hear it comin thru my port that comes thru my arm rest in the back seat. i thought it was my back dash until i put my ears to it, its comin from inside the box
Seen your video with the pickup truck with the 6 sa. 6.5 subs dont want to bit that style plus not going that big on sound. My question js with that enclosure could i fit 2 of these 8's under the rear bench without modifying the seat height? Truck is a 2011 f150
as far as audiopipe amps go I cant say nothing bad about them, but to push a x-12 sundown I want something that will bump it, id love your feedback, love your vids man
I'm going to be upgrading here soon possibly a 4 12" zv4 flat loading wall in my 2007 fx4. (From your shop) Do you have any bass in your fx? I find even with a m3 12" on 2k nothing flexes in my truck not even the rear view. My dash flexes that's it. Trucks built strong lol
@ life of price, im just curious do you think a audiopipe 1800 class d amp would push that x_8 sundown subwoofer good, or if I went with a x-12 sundown 4ohm subwoofer what amp would you recommend for it
what would sound better? I have a kicker kx 1600.1 (1600w @ 2ohm and 800w @ 4ohm)>>> should I get two sa 8's at 2ohm? adjusting gains accordingly ...or one x8 @ 4ohms... I can't decide...both will be custom ported snd tune to 32hz
How do these sundown subs sound compared to a single L7? I have one 15" Kicker L7 and it hits hard but I don't think the bass sounds very clean. I have it hitting at 1000 rms at 2 ohms. I'm using a kicker kx 1200.1 amp. I've never really heard of these brands like sundown, re audio, PSI etc. Is there a reason a lot of car audio guys with a shit ton of subs don't use brands like kicker or rockford fosgate? I'm looking to get a smaller sub in my 13 mazdaspeed 3. My 15" L7 is taking up all of my hatchback with this big ass box I have for it. I heard going to a smaller box might make it sound like crap. So I've been interested in a 10" sundown audio. Thanks
I know you might not be able to truly give me an honest answer because you sell the stuff, but what you'll you recommend. A Sundown Sa 15 or a Rockford Fosgate P3D4-15. They are about the same price
+jdawsnipes depend on the type of bass youre looking for. Ive owned a p3 and its very punchy tight chested bass because of the aluminum cone and the SA is more for the lows. Hope this helped!
***** if RF already work for you go ahead and buy a 15". Honestly i had never have neither brands so i think the question you did at the beginning is something that applies for me better. However, i have seen in person 2 12" RF T2 and some Sundown models and for me Sundown subs are more impressive. Suspenssion is just insane so if I was you i go for Sundown specially if you had never have one.
I love the 8" sub and I recently emailed an audio company that I will keep their name out of it and they told me that they don't make 8 inch subwoofers because it's too hard is there any truth to that?
Yeah because a 8" doesn't have much cone so it's hard for em to produce much bass. Sundown makes the best 8"s in the world on my opinion. They hit so hard it's crazy a few years back the Sundowns SA8 hit a 151.6 DB @68hz and a X done a 153 DB. So they pretty mean ass Subs.
hey bro I'm about to order the x 8 off your website but I'm not sure if i should get dual 2 or dual 4 ... if you can help me out that'll be great.. Also what amp will be great for the x 8.. thank you
+zeke_got _beatz Unless that 10 has a coil that can handle that power, not very long. lol Sorry but i do not know the song, i would like to know my self.
+PotlandBlazers It has a larger coil, not enough room to keep the magnet force needed to put holes at the bottom, the middle vent gap cools it quite well anyways, plus it has a ceramic coating so it doesn't get as hot as a standard coil.
+IIIsticksone THEY ARE USED AND SOLD IN USA BUT MADE IN CHINA FOR THE COST OF $40 DOLLARS EACH AND CHINNESE PEOPLE GETTING PAID 5 DOLLARS A DAY MAKING THESE BAD BOYS FOR 10 HR DAYS CHINA....ENJOY
+IIIsticksone With them being manufactured in China it keeps the price down on them, they still use high quality parts so just because its made in China doesn't mean its cheap, it all depends how much money the Company puts into the materials.
+MazdaBass971 Its more about providing jobs for American families rather than a quality issue. Not trying to start a debate either I wish JP nothing but success. I think it is great that he is pursuing his passion and has put everything on the line to follow his dream. That takes a lot of courage and that is what this country is about.
BACK THEN 90'S STUFF WAS MORE QUALITY AND STUFF WAS NOT OUTSOURCED FOR HIGHER PROFIT IT WAS GOOD SHIT. BACK THEN CHINA AUDIO WAS CRAP PYRAMID BOSS, JL AUDIO ONE OF THE LAST AMERICAN STILL PRODUCED HERE I DONT CARE IF IT CANT TAKE 3K WATTS THE TECHNOLOGY IS THERE AND CAN NOT BE COPIED, OFF BRANDS KILLED THE TRADE
+IIIsticksone Its not JPs fault sundown products are made in China, its just what the business decides to do for manufacturing products, there are some car audio companys that manufacture in the USA but with that comes higher product cost, labor cost in China is way lower then the US so that results in lower cost products, look at Sundown then look at Acendent audio, you will see a huge price difference all because where they made the products, just look at the high end products, Acendent audio hand builds high end woofers, Sundown mass produces high end woofers on assembly lines, its that difference that will effect the price by a lot, each company still uses high quality material, i know everything isn't made in the USA to give more American people jobs, but its just how the world is.
Please don't bash me I'm not a audio junkie and inquiring knowledge.. I want to purchase the 500w version to this Sub wat size amp is required? I luv this sub but don't want a huge amp.. Please help
Generalturbo the reason you got no answer is if you know the sub is rated at 500 watts rms, then you need a amp that puts out 500 watts or more rms. now if your just using one, a nice 700 watt rms amp would do.
@@parkhillvargas disculpa. A cuantos herz lo entonaste. Tu cajón... Y me podrías dar las especificaciones de sub. Para ver si me animo a fabricar. Una caja y comprar un par
my bad.. i thought they was the x 12's i must of comment on this by mastake.. but dame how people are so fucking evil..i see that its 500 now..it was the wrong one that i comment on..man, people always got to have some hateful shit to say.. you kinda people remind me of the onwers of slaves back then..justr evil people.. do you hate your life that much..like really to take it out on others...
Neither one puts out lower bass if you're running one sub then I would get the Duel 2 but if you plan to run two subs but one now one later in the future month or two down the road or whatever I would get a duel 4 and running at 1 ohm until you get your second so what you would want as a duel 4 and wire both of them to a total of 1 ohm
So I am guessing if you are not in to SPL but just want subs to work with music and not overpower it these are not the subs for me? All I ever see with these is the SPL...I will not bash folks for wanting this, to each his own...I just want to enjoy my music and have my system work to slam down some good old rock and roll....are these not for me then?
Stormy I just heard 4 in a conversion van in a 4th order bandpass. I played some Bob berg and some Jean luc ponty and with the tune my friend had they sounded really really nice. of course with a bandpass he had ample sized midbass driver to make up for the narrow bandpass. but I was impressed and these were the x series 8". I need to hear. the SA 8". I am curious about how the 10" sound.
