The difficulty of this was quite high despite the simple dismount. Lots of connections which she hit. If she adds a double pike dismount and cleans up her landings, she could easily get a medal at Paris and be valuable to the US team
@@carrietremble nah. Rebe’s beam final last year at worlds was 14.3… easy to say, Suni has a very clear shot of a medal. When Suni adds a D rated dismount and cleans up her skills, she will be a force to reckoned with
I also think it’s a too deep pool of great beamers to say she’ll easily win a medal. Beam is always beam so it’s hard to predict, but she really has to materialize those upgrades she shown in training videos.
@@carrietremble Don't forget Sanne Wevers of the Netherlands who is a heavy favorite and who is expected at the European Championships in a few days. Then there is Nina Darwael of Belgium. Plus, the women from the UK, Canada, China, Brazil, France and Romania. Although it has been some time, Sanne Wevers was able to skate by Simone Biles in 2016 simply by producing a clean routine. She's one of the few women in the world who has beaten Biles. Simply put: we will see who makes the finals. Just because you wish it, doesn't mean it will come true.
Correct me if I’m wrong, if she adds the round off Mount she trained yesterday and has been training, and the double like dismount, her d score would be a 6.9?
@@Haazza She's already doing the Split Jump (B) after the Arial Walkover (D), it can't be repeated twice. And are you talking about the Split Leap (A) after the Switch Ring Leap (E) ? There's no CV for it.
That wolf turn wasn't that secure. Watch her arms then, watch Simone's arms on the turn & that dismount? Suni was a bit overscored. But proud of her in going for it. Keep going!
The fact that she scored a 14.3 with basically no dismount means she is very relevant. Last years bronze medalist scored 14.3 with a full routine. A dismount increases her d score giving this an even higher scoring probabilities. Well done Suni!
Being a guy is irrelevant, when women's gymnastics is the most popular Olympic sport in history. Yes, they are playing it safe. No one is pulling out a double double dismount until major titles a d olympics
She couldn't have, because there would be more deductions if she tried a double pike. The score was totally fair, she was clean outside of the switch ring and this a routine that will score in the 15's if she goes totally clean with a harder dismount.
because this isn't a big meet. She's likely just feeling it out, trying to be consistent while working on muscle memory in a pressureful situation. No need to risk injury for dismount because stakes are low.
@@TommyWiseauu You don't watch gymnastics much, do you? Who said anything about "feeling up to it?" It's a strategic thing to help save bodies that could easily be injured (a UK gymnast just tore her ACL). Why do you think so many gymnasts don't compete here (where are Simone, Shi, Leanne?)? Please go back to the 2021 event and look at the scores there - holding back on some events is a pretty typical strategy. Given Suni developing two chronic medical conditions, I'm sure she is well aware of her capabilities and is working with her coaches and team to come up with a strategy to maximize her potential with the time that is left.
@@NiceDrivewayy well if Suni is serious about making Paris, she should be showing what she’s capable of NOW because her kidney issue is going to be used against her when they start selecting people for the team. She can’t be reliable cause she hasn’t shown anything competitive since Tokyo.
@@TommyWiseauu you seem like a real expert 🙄 She qualified to nationals. Job done. Selection doesn’t happen as a result of this comp. If she shows growth over the next few comps she stands a strong chance. Performance in trials matters most.
You don't want to push everything to the limits. Each skill, EACH MOVEMENT (on any apparatus), in fact, could result in injuries, WHEN YOU LAND. With the real events, the Olympics, just weeks away, the TINIEST of injuries guarantee 100% NOT making the team, no matter how skilled an athlete is. During these pre-selection/prerequisite events, therefore, an athlete has to do a SET of more balanced routines & NOT always going for the most difficult acrobatic jumping or landing...
@@layj4171 everyone stayed but her. That is a strange thing. Do you need a Webster's definition of "weird"? It means out of the ordinary. It is, in fact, out of the ordinary to leave before awards ceremonies at national meets. I'm sorry you have difficulty grasping basic vocabulary.
Is it me, or do all the competitors seem bored sloppy and dull? Everything about this competition appears tired and very pedestrian. With everything I'm seeing, if an Olympic Team were to be created from just the best gymnasts in this competition, U.S. would not stand a chance for a podium spot.
