Very informative video. I'm trying to gather information about these systems. The interaction of the radar and visual AI for the longitudinal is interesting, since indeed the radar does have a very good performance in some département. This leads me to another topic the I'll have to inquire before buying, its the ability for sunny pilot to also use GPS data of the car (or of preloaded or live loaded map) to anticipate turns and reduce speed. Some manufacturers have version of adaptative cruise where the radar data is mixed with GPS data to adjust speed, and it is very efficient at giving an additional layer of protection against overspeeding before a curve. This could probably be of great help to the AI longitudinal control too. But it may be already possible with sunny pilot.
Right now SunnyPilot is adopting pull request much faster than Comma, so radar is only in SunnyPilot. One day I’m sure comma will upstream the code. I wish I could understand and explain the technical details of how Genie figured out the radar, but I’m just the test pilot 😂
Sick video, saw you mounted the c3x after sticking the adhesive on, how has that mount been? Just recieved a c3x today, eager to install and take it for a test
In my initial video I did stock the mount on and go for it, but that was always a temporary mounting solution. it did fail one day when it was really hot. I came out to the car to find the comma on the dash with a chip in the screen. Comma says it's okay to go for a test drive (15-30 minutes), but then it should be removed for the cure time. My suggestion is if you have a road trip coming up and can't let it cure is to use both mounts comma sends. Mount one exactly where you want it, leave that one to cure and put the second one right under and drive using that one for 3 days. Then swap and remove the lower one.
Quick question. I've got a 2022 F150 XL. I don't have ACC, so no radar. Would this still work with my truck? I'm assuming I'd still need to hold actively accelerate/brake, but could be hands free.
Unfortunately without ACC, the truck will reject the steering commands from the Comma (Ford designed it that way). The good news is adding ACC isn't that hard, you can read through this thread here (the thread is long, but once it was figured out it's pretty straightforward): www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/adding-co-pilot-assist-2-0-with-forscan.5028/
Wow experimental mode has come a long way! When I used it on my Honda it would drive 20% slower than everyone and take off like a grandma. Looks like the only major bug for Sunny to fix is the steering limit maximum warning.
Is it possible to program the system to work with a properly loaded trailer? I have zero assistance features once a trailer is hooked to my ‘23 platinum with BC
@@ajzride does your truck have lane keep assistance with a trailer even without the Comma running? Ford apparently disabled it but I’m wondering if Forscan could change that anyways.
@@Ranger5250 Yes, Ford disables it so mine doesn't work with a trailer either. I've never seen it in the forscan spreadsheet, so if it's possible, no one has figured it out yet.
@ajzride @Ranger5250 So, does lane centering work with Sunnypilot with a trailer? I guess Ford won't be able to "disable" Sunnypilot from doing lane centering with trailer, right?
If you follow the link to the forum in the description, I actually posted a full how-to PDF today. Just giving you the URL might not do you a ton of good with all the other stuff.
@@ajzride appreciate the quick response! Can you adjust the follow distance on this fork? I am running dragon pilot on a different vehicle and follow distance adjustment is something I really need. Thank you.
@@waynefernandes9455 The stock for "gap" button changes the personality. The personality changes acceleration and braking profile along with the follow distance. Relaxed personality has about a 4 second gap, aggressive has about 3.5, and maniac has about 3 seconds.
Awesome! I saw the video and you needed other hardware to intercept the signal. Where did you buy all that? Do you have a hardware checklist/ shopping list?
@@waynefernandes9455 can you send me a DM or make a post on the forum? Comma's store is really hard to link to, screenshots are better, but they don't work well in RU-vid comments.
