This was such a sad moment. Play after play just watching them slowly marching down for a sure win. Then the playback to the helmet catch... ugh. The last bit of light fades away and you start to accept.. all this to lose.. dont be to upset.. OMG! INTERCEPTION!! Then i think we all felt like Brady on that sideline.
Being fair this is only a 5 minute snip into life, but this did not appear to be a group of hardcore football fans. No chips, dip, barbeque, pizza, or beer WTF kind of Superbowl party is that? I know the one guy had a Corona, that only strengthens my point.
@Mr. Shark Tooth I am absolutely no Pete Carroll fan or supporter, 100% the opposite to be honest. That said, the man did rebuild a mediocre franchise into a Superbowl winner and then a follow up appearance the next year. In my humble personal opinion it would be hard to justify that termination. Again I cannot stand Carroll and Im in no way defending the play call, it was foolish. That said, how come Wilson doesnt get any blame for the bad pass or misreading the coverage?
@@Malzarius85 Yeah, and I liked when that lady said “ what do you mean they’re not in yet? So…What’s your point?”😄😄 the answer is “My point is, they didn’t score a touchdown yet, and they’re about to throw an interception and lose the fuckin’ game, dumbass!!!”😆😆😆
You mean one of the worst tosses in NFL history. Short slants are common at the goal line. Specially when the D is set up to stop the run. Which they literally did on the play before. Put the blame where the blame is due. Wilson tried floating a pass in an NFL game.
I'm from Boston and I can tell you this: Ninety-nine out of one hundred times, that Seattle pass attempt would have been a championship winning touchdown.
I've since heard they practiced that goal line jam over and over and nobody knew why or when theyd ever use it so it was an annoying play to run. Sure enough..
Maybe, if it's the same offensive and defensive set up. That's a tough throw to make if the corner doesn't get picked by the other wr. Butler didn't get picked that's why he was able to undercut the route.
The only thing that makes this call a bad call is that the pass got intercepted honestly, everyone and their moms would assume they'd run the ball and there was no way either Pete Carroll nor Russell Wilson knew they had practiced a 3 CB line-up specifically for that situation. It's really a Belichick being a very smart and observant coach and a massive amount of luck that made that play, not calling a pass there
O the sadness sinking in. Realizing its just a slow defeat and only letting them score to try and have a kickoff return miracle must be the only choice. Then the catch and helmet catch.. i was like.. bruh.. its bad enough. Well we're still AFC champs and it was close, we might be back next year all we hav.. INTERCEPTION AT THE GOAL LINE!! PATRIOTS WIN! Suddenly we were all like Brady on that sideline.
Anyone else caught that high five at the @1:09 mark? That rang clean, I felt every bit of that shit. He was like, “Fuck Yeah Greg, We’re back in it!!!”…🤣
Short slants are actually very common at the goal line. Specially when the goal line D is expecting a run. Everyone saying "they couldn't stop Lynch!" is completely and conveniently ignoring that they had literally done just that in the prior play. Carroll just didn't figure Wilson was going to try floating it in there as if he was playing catch with his mom...
I watched the Patriots/Falcons Super Bowl at a house of Eagles fans who were rooting for the Falcons for whatever reason and they’re all giving me shit the entire game as the lone Pats fan and then they won oh man it felt so good to be right
I love how the whole world parrots that "It was stupid not to run the ball". If Wilson passed for a TD all you would hear was what a genius play Pete Carrol picked. No One was expecting a pass.
You have to love the longtime, loyal Seahawks fanbase in Hawaii. lmao. I also love the gal to the left who clearly could care less and isn't on some Seattle bandwagon like the rest of em, and is enjoying the arrogance as we all did. All those people just assumed it was over. Lastly: This is a reminder why I don't go to SB parties.
This was a case of Carroll putting his qb above the team. They had 3 downs to punch it in from one yard with one of the best short yardage backs to play in the nfl and Carroll calls a pass. He tried to make his qb famous, and it blew up in his arrogant face. As a 49er fan I can watch this all day.
I had the same initial reaction as most. But the more I thought about it, Carroll's logic made sense. You have three plays to get one yard. Pats D expects you to run Lynch again. Clock was ticking. A quick slant with a pick route is always caught for a TD or incomplete. TD wins the game. Incompletion stops the clock. Then you'd run Lynch twice on 3rd and 4th down. That slant is NEVER intercepted. Statistics had a higher chance of Lynch fumbling than that play being picked by Pats. So it wasn't a bad call.... it just turned out horribly.
@@curtin9 yea I know people always shit on analytics and this play is one of the reasons why but the probability of that happening is extremely unlucky
@@curtin9 I agree. 3 plays and you had to throw one of them to stop clock. Carroll figured they would expect run- run- pass...so wanted to mix it up. True, perhaps a bit overthought.
Amazing play of the century!!! Also amazing how BB treated him years later and doomed the win vs Phila. They should have gotten rid of BB instead of Brady/Butler. Unfortunately, as long as BB is there, there will be no more championships. This from a diehard Pats fan…
Is anybody going to ask why we have so many of these videos shot from the vantage point of the television? Is the conspiracy true about our electronics recording us without our knowledge or are people just setting up cameras and recording themselves watch football?🤷♂️
That was without a shadow of a doubt Pete Carroll trying stat pad Wilson's SB MVP and keep lynch from winning it, worst call in superbowl history, 2nd and goal on the 1 yard line with timeouts and beast mode in the backfield, 2nd dumbest was Arizona calling a pass on 1st and goal inside the 5 with 18 seconds to go in the 1st half, Kurt Warner was intercepted by James Harrison who returned it for a superbowl record 100 yards and Pittsburgh went on to win 27-23
If they were real 'fans', they'd be more pissed. Guarantee most of them didn't or don't know who the old guy in the luxury suite was. The girl with the blue tank seems to be the real fan lol
