It was said by the patriots defensive coach in an interview that they lined up so that they were forced to throw it knowing that it would be dropped/incomplete/picked off
+1990Thunderbolt idk it was pretty slow and low scoring throughout the game for me. I know full well that if Green Bay did that it'd be my #1 super bowl
*You are one yard away of a victory in a Super Bowl, you have, Marshawn Lynch, 3 downs, and a time out to burn, what would you do ?* *A.* Throw the ball to Lynch. *B.* Give the ball to Lynch. *C.* Throw the ball to the rookie, of the opposite team.
Admiralty86, WOW. HAHAHA LOL 😅 😂 😁 😄 😆. I WAS ROOTING FOR SEATTLE SEAHAWKS AND AFTER I SAW THE PICK PLAY, I JUST WANTED TO BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF MY TV LOL 😅 😂.
IM A PATRIOTS FAN AND ALTHOUGH WE WON THE SUPERBOWL, the Seahawks won it. BC THAT WAS JUST A DUMB CALL BY THE COORDINATOR I DONT BLAME RUSSEL ONE BIT BUT THANK YOU SEAHAWKS FOR MAKING THIS SUPERBOWL FUN. #patriots fan for life. I respect Seattle and all the guys.
The seahawks didn't win this.. That dumb ass play for them to throw the ball and not run it at the 1 yard line got them to lose the game. For calling such a stupid play they deserve to lose that game. This is coming from a dolphins fan. As much as i dislike the patriots they deserved it.
Seahawks chose the play that sealed their defeat = Seahawks lost the game = Patriots won. Football is a team sport, one player making a bad decision changes the outcome for the entire team. Not to mention, Russel Wilson never should have let that ball leave his fingers, he should have taken the sack rather than throwing it to the opposing team... And the encroachment was also a horrible move by the Seahawks, and sealed the win for the Patriots. It was multiple bad choices that lost them the game, not just the one.
Nash Rarig Pick a fucking side. You were never a Seahawks fan until 2012. Stfu with you saying your a huge fan of both & that this was your dream superbowl.
Dear Seahawks Fans, this was a truly amazing game and you should be extremely proud to have accomplished so much in such little time; however, I'm seeing a lot of sore losers out there laying hate on Wilson and even calling for Pete Carroll's resignation. Quite frankly that's upsetting to see, not only as a sports fan, but as a Patriots fan as well.. Believe me when I say that there's NOBODY out there who understands your pain right now more than a Patriots fan -- we've had more than a few rough moments to be sure -- so take comfort in knowing that you have an awesome team and an amazing coach with many years ahead of you. Please know that us real fans have nothing but respect for your team's talent and we look forward to meeting you on the field again.
finally a civilized patriots fan, the only reason I wanted Seattle to win was to stick it to all the pats fans saying how bad the seahawks are and the have no chance 36-0, you really think going the the superbowl 2 years in a row means they suck? Did you not see what they did to the broncos. Even though I think that was definetly the stupidest call ever, carroll shouldn't be fired
***** you can say that to any fan of any of the 32 organizations. Many pats fans are frustrated when people attribute New England's wins to cheating. Spygate happened a long time ago, and we still don't know everything about Deflategate lol.
I totally agree here, the game was absolutely amazing. One of the best Superbowls I've ever seen. I am a Pat's fan, and when my team loses games like this, it's heartbreaking to say the least. But I swallow my pride, and move on to the next year hoping it'll be even greater then the last. However when I sit there, and people take shots at my team for things that happened in the past. I will defend my team, cause there's no need for it. The NFL has made no accusations toward the Pats this year for Deflategate, it's still under investigation. And to sit there and use Spygate as a means to make Patriots seem guilty for the current scandal is just plain blind, and stupid. Especially when there has been no released official evidence to prove that the Pats were behind it. This Superbowl however was one for the ages. Seahawks really gave it to the Patriots, and I really wouldn't mind seeing a rematch of these two teams in next year's Superbowl. My respect goes out to the Seahawks for giving us a great game, and to the real Seahawk fans who are being classy about the loss. In my eyes both teams deserved to win this game, it's just sad there can be only one.
I'm a PATRIOTS fan and this is by far the Greatest Super bowl ever . Not because they won .. Not because the seahawks lost .. But because this was a bout about defense vs offense .. this was all about intelligence, dedication momentum and doing their job .. both teams played unstoppable .. This was 50x better than super bowl 50 and better than any other super bowl the patriots ever played in ..
Don't'a Hightower and Akeem Ayers tackling Lynch at the one is probably the most underrated best play of any super bowl. And Brandon browner got like no credit for setting up the butler interception.
True. But the Pats would have had a minute to work with in a 3 point game. If Lynch got that TD, NE would probably had tied it up for OT. I mean, idk if they would or not, but there would be a massive possibility.
What an amazing game! If you had told me Brady would throw 2 picks against THIS defense, I would have sworn Seattle would win the game. Brady picked this defense apart in the 4th quarter. Brady had to be sweating bullets on that last Seattle drive thinking "not again"! lol
There is no way I agree with that! If that was the case then they would have thrown it on 1st down from the 6 yard line. They would have never run Lynch!
My dad took me to this game and it was the best moment of my life. I also still say this was the best Super Bowl ever I don’t know if you’ve ever heard thousands of people hold their breath on one play and then half of them scream in joy while the others were just silent in disbelief. The energy in that building was insane
I'm a huge Seahawks fan... After 6 months of grieving, I can finally admit this was an epic Superbowl. Sure we lost, but from a football fan standpoint, the game was a rollercoaster with plenty of drama. It also helps that we won the year before...
Watching this back as a Seahawk fan and seeing how close Marshawn was to the goal line on that previous play is maddening! So close to have winning it right there!
2015: "Tom Brady going for his 4th ring" 2021: "Tom Brady going for his 7th ring" Plus he's literally just 3 plays away from having 9 rings already... Dammit Tom, I miss you!!! 😭 They shoulda drove you until your wheels fell off.
Ben has 2 superbowls and should have been nominated for MVP this year. Kaepernick and Luck ahead of him?? Thats just insane.4 should be Brees, 5 should be Ben.
Everyone keeps blaming the Seahawks coaching staff for the interception pass but it was a great play call based on how the pats lined up on d. They had 7 in the box, a safety deep, and one on one coverage outside. Quick slants was perfect. Also Marshawn Lynch ran the ball 5 times from the 1 yard line during regular season. He only scored once.
I agree that running the ball would have been the safer/better choice, but then again, Pete Carroll or Darrell Bevell might have tried to catch the Pats defense off guard. Either way, it was a ballsy call, not a stupid call. (BTW I'm not a Pat's or Seattle fan)
I'd blame Wilson for throwing it to that particular reciever. I would have thrown a fade into the corner of the endzone so at least if he over throws it and goes out of bounds it stops the clock and gives the Seahawks a chance to setup a play. But what the fuck do I know? I'm just a 17 year old kid from New Jersey who plays baseball and listens to Parkway Drive.
I swear it was like the Offensive coordinator and Pete carroll were talking deciding on the play and it was like: OC: What do you want too run? Pete Carroll: Umm, We have the one of the best running backs in the league hence the name Beast Mode, But uh I think we should run some dumb shit. OC: HUH? Pete: Some dumb shit, Like slants on the 1 yard line. *shows OC the play OC: Seems Legit.
***** That's what I tell people. You guys obviously have never played real football where the objective is to get an offensive line where you can't have exploits getting the ball off therefore trying to run a play and not get the QB sacked for 5 yards. Practically why the are obviously different offensive and defensive plays. They were trying to trick everyone and anyone who thinks they should have run the ball because he's the best RB, THEY FOOLED YOU! Not a fan of either team and hate them both. Pats are arrogant and Seahawks are narcissists though...
***** I'm not trying to say they are bad though, but what they should have done is used their last timeout to make the best decision. It was panicked being the last 30 seconds.
I have yet to this day read any comment regarding kearse's catch. That was the most cluch catch ive ever seen and maybe even put it up as one of the best catches ever
I don't want to hear no hate saying that "Seahawks should've won" or "Patriots cheated." A win is a win, even if the Shecocks gave it to Lynch Wilfork and Jones would've stopped him.
Why should I? The Seahawks are one of the most unclassed franchises in football. Did you see the brawl after the game? Bunch of sore losers if you ask me.
Man. I'm a diehard Seahawks fan but I have to say that was one hell of a game... Amazing play from both sides. Brady led his offense very well, the Legion of Boom picked him twice but Brady still managed to bring it back. Very impressive, and Russel was no slouch either. Not to mention Marshawn, incredible match up, can't wait for this Sunday.
A. Wiggins, yeah I agree with you on that one because honestly, superbowl 49 was the best super bowl I ever watched. The reason being is that it was a close game and it was about hard work and doing your job. I was about ready to scream happily if Seattle would've scored. They could've repeated 😠😳😔😢😭😖😓😞😒😟😩😶😰😷😱😲😵😧😦😡😣😮😤😑😈😯😐
14 point comeback in only 5 minutes is just crazy. And the play before the pick deserves WAY more recognition. Hightower slamming Okung to the side and drilling Lynch in the legs along with Akeem Ayers blocking the goal line. And man, that interception play had SO SO much more to it. If Revis didn't cover his man like he did that would've been a wide open touchdown and game over If browner didn't pin kearse to the line of scrimmage that probably would've been a touchdown And Malcolm knew the play he had to make. He failed it twice in practice. Brandon told him what he had to do and he listened. He was so determined to make at least a stop on there you could just tell. And then it happened..the best play in super bowl history. And before you storming giants fans say "oh no the tyree and manningham catches were better" let me prove you all wrong.. That Tyree catch was just straight up luck. We definitely could have picked it off from those 3 previous downs.
We were down 19-7 with about 2 minutes in the NFC championship and won 28-22 in OT while ur guys patriots cheating ass had to cheat to get to the super bowl Patriots are trash
I remember this day like it was yesterday when I was only in first grade… My whole family was going crazy when the Patriots won and I was jumping up and down on my grandfather 🥹🥹
What kind of name is that come on people call him Marshal or Shawn stop it already. For fucks sake, stop for the love of god combining names your not unique. Hrm Lets name him Dean, no lets call him Jordan, no Dejordan ffs
I'm from Mass and I'm a huge Patriots fan. And man does this victory feel good. We fucking needed this man without a doubt. We've gone to the super bowl way to many times just to lose. And btw Tom Brady best fucking quarterback ever to step foot on earth no questions asked. I mean we couldn't let that fucking absurd giants catch happen again. We just couldn't man. And I mean you can say it all you want patriots suck but who fucking won bitch. I mean dont get me wrong we pulled it out are asses we played horrible we are lucky we won but who the fuck cares we did it we won. Through all the deflate gate and penalties and shit we did it baby. Thank god. This was amazing and Seahawks played a good game but we played it better. Pats wanted this and got it. We fucking did it baby super bowl champions. Undisputed. Undisputed baby. And let me reiterate Tom Brady best quarter back ever not 1 not 2 not 3 but 4 fucking super bowl rings baby let's go.
Brady is the best quarterback the NFL has ever seen. And I'm a Giants fan. Well actually I'm body part of a Giant's player so I just root for them. Brady's receivers are pretty good receivers. For a third or fourth string player. But to take a Brandon LaFell, Julian Edelman(who is a very good WR, top ten this season) and Danny Amendola plus a horrible run game against one of the best defenses and put up good numbers. Ya sure he has Gronk but that's pretty much it. Gronk and Edelman. But props to whoever let Macolm Butler, an undrafted rookie stay in the game after letting up that catch to Kearse is the real MVP. If an inexperienced player let up a play like that I'd take his ass out. I know he played great on that play and Kearse's catch was fluky as hell but I'd be pissed as hell. He should be given a 5 million dollar bonus from the Patriots in the next 7 days and if he doesn't that's bullshit. Hell of a game. Glad to see Brady get his 4th. And glad to not hear people saying BS like Brady's legacy is ruined and crap like that. The only reason the Giants one those two were because we have Jesus at QB. We secretly stole his body from the grave and he came back to life and he led us down the field both times. But actually though I'm glad everyone question Brady finally shut up.
So true and I agree you guys must have jesus as your quarter back cause if not Eli is just the luckiest quarter back of all time. And that malcom butler kid number 21 deserves a big fat steak from Tom Brady. Brady must be kissing the ground he walks because he owes him big time if it weren't him they would have never won. But thank god they did man they needed this. Go fucking Pats!!!
Austin Rodriguez Eli just knows when to stray away from his brother's Super Bowl crapiness and win when it matters. And Brady should give his wife to Butler and he should also become Butler's maid for the whole offseason. Every Pats fan should send Butler 100 dollars for what he did. And Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick should buy 10 houses for Butler. Damn, he and Victor Cruz are both undrafted free agent's who have been huge for their team in the Super Bowl. Hopefully Butler becomes a great player. And gets a good card in Madden. Shameless plug.
I'm a new fan to Football, my first game I began with was this Superbowl game. It was a exciting game, never knew football had that much excitement in it. 2015-2016 season I'm watching as much NFL games as I can..
drlee2 Are games always like this? I watch a lot of NBA and I love the games because most of them come down to the last shot/buzzer beater.. How is football for you what do you like about the game.
I was 21 years old and living with my parents while working as a server at a Carolina Ale House restaurant and bar in NC during this game while pulling for the Seahawks......I actually dropped to my knees on the floor screaming "NO!!!!" when that last interception happened while I was still on shift......when I got home after working my dad told me he was leaving my mom.......I did not handle the results of this day well for several years......
People don’t realize how important that tackle was by Hightower on the play before. Saved the Super Bowl. We never would have gotten the interception by butler without that stop. Hell of a play
No team ever overcame more than a 7 point 4th quarter deficit in the Super Bowl....then Tom Brady comes back from 10 down. Then 2 years later, he overcomes a 19 point 4th quarter hole. He's just clutch as hell. What will he do next time? Come back from a 30 point 4th quarter deficit?
As a 49ers fan, I would never have guessed that it would end the same way for the Seahawks as it did for us in the Championship Game the year before. I didn’t even pay attention to this game because after watching them basically stomp on us every game and leave us in the dust, and then the Packers game right before, I was beginning to (begrudgingly) accept the fact that the Seahawks would win back-to-back Super Bowls and become the dynasty of the 2010s, no matter what got in their way. I could even see that team being the first ever to three-peat in Super Bowl history. They just felt so unstoppable. I almost miss seeing them play.
Nash Rarig Eh, if you have ties to the place whatever. Heck if you're a 7 year old kid and just decide yeah I'm gonna go for this team for the rest of my life (and do) even though the city is 1k miles away there's nothing wrong with that. The main problem is the dumbasses who aren't there when you have 2 and 3 win seasons. you don't appreciate the sweet without the sour anyhow. (some movie)
andyouf I just hate people who consider themselves fans only because a team is good, which are usually kids. I'm both a Hawks and a Pats fan, got 2 jerseys and 2 beanies to prove it. I'm a Hawks fan because I live in Washington and I'm a Pats fan because they were the 1st team I ever watched play football, back in '98. Plus I liked Drew Bledsoe
Nash Rarig That's how kid's are. I was a Bulls fan for a few years because of Jordan like every other kid then forgot about them, don't care about the nba. I have a friend though who just decided to go for the blue jays because whatever and still does 30 years later. nowhere near Toronto.
This game hurt the worst out of all the games as a hawks fan 1 yard from winning the superbowl and they don't run the ball....with the best back in FB Worst call ever Although great game pats both teams kept it close the whole game
clokedbigman I think the reason they didn't is because lunch had just got hit before that run and they thought the pats were expecting a run so they figured that after being taken down like that and that they knew they would run they were better off throwing
the close ever game ever, im seahawk fan and its great match with patriots, i hope wilson will keep doin his work again next year, lets see !!! its a game, lose and win is only game, fair play and sporty play !!! nice one
You have the chance to win a Super Bowl. Pete Carroll, what do you think. Let’s give the Patriots a chance to win a Super Bowl. A few years later. Made it to every Super Bowl after Super Bowl 50.
When Kearse caught that ball it just felt like 2008 all over again. And to Seahawks fans wondering how the fuck you lost... welcome to the club we've all been there
***** Oh yeah. The bandwagon that kept the Seahawks in Seattle by beating a multi millionare that tried to move them to LA back in the 90s. The bandwagon that packed the kingdome every game they played. The bandwagon thats packed the Seahawks Stadium/Quest Field/Century Link Field every game they've played. The band wagon that gave some of their own money into building the Seahawks their new stadium. The bandwagon that has caused more false starts in their stadium then anybody else since 2002 (excluding the Vikings). The bandwagon that has set multiple records for being the loudest fans. Next time think before speak out of that ass you call a mouth.
Michael Meacham They used to have real fans, then they started to suck, then they finally got good..... and look at all these "fans" that have been rooting for the Seahawks since the "beginning"
seahawks lost? Brady went off like crazy in the 4th, and the seahawks were only even at the 1 yard line because Wilson completed the luckiest catch in the universe, run that play 99/100 times and that dude doesn't make the reception. But furthermore, the play call is nowhere near as bad as everyone is saying it is, if wilson got a TD everyone would be praising Carol as a genius for throwing when no one expected it.
rusty shakleford I agree, I was just trying to not start a fight with die-hard sea hawk fans, I totally think you're right, like they would be like PETE CAROL OMFG WHAT A NICE PLAY YES! YES! YES!
DashStudios ah I see. My main point is simply this: If malcom butler didn't make an incredible defensive play, then the Seahawks score a touchdown, or it's just an incomplete pass, and no one talks about this play the way they are
I was in 7th grade when I watched this. I remember how surreal it felt, the next day, to have 4 rings after what felt like an eternity with 3. It felt so unreal. I just graduated this year and it’s 6 now... It feels like an eternity since it felt like an eternity!
