I actually hid the UI this time. Hopefully the footage comes out a lot cleaner than it did in the previous video. I would also like to mention that I have decided to expand the base roster by 4 slots. There are now four additional characters that I will reveal in the future; chosen based on your requests.
Next week will be Patrick's Trailer, followed by Sheen's. Patrick's Trailer will come with an early access giveaway. The launch trailer will be uploaded the following week; revealing one of the new characters and the game's new theme. Hope to see you there.

Thank you so much for bringing this niche Nickelodeon crossover Flash game and improving upon Super Brawl 2. This is something I would dream to have before and seeing it in action puts a smile on my face. Although, I do have a few questions. Q1: I saw the wiki said you’re adding Tak and other characters that are in 3D and I’m wondering if these characters are going to be animated in 3D or 2D. Imo, I would go 3D to make them faithful. Q2: How were you able to add new moves to 3D characters since 3D characters would need models to animate? Q3.1: Are you only adding characters from Nickelodeon (characters that had shows on Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Nickelodeon games, etc.) or are you going to make it like Multiversus where it’s Nickelodeon characters and then 3rd party/guest characters. Imo, I would just make it a crossover of Nickelodeon history (I give Nick Jr, Nickelodeon games, and Dreamworks characters a pass because they aired on Nickelodeon or have ties to Nickelodeon) than adding characters from Paramount and other companies because “less is always more.” Limiting yourself to just Nickelodeon history is better than adding Sonic the Hedgehog or Transformer character because the movies are created by Paramount. And don’t get me wrong, I would love to see these characters but they don’t have a show on Nickelodeon. And before you scream at TMNT or Garfield, I would like to remind you that TMNT have 2 Nickelodeon shows and Garfield has been featured in 2 Nickelodeon games so they both make sense to be in Super Brawl. Q3: Are all of the pixel sprite characters going to be animated in 2D? Q4: Are you open for other people to help you with Super Brawl Showdown? Q5: Who was the hardest character to add in Super Brawl Showdown so far? Q6: How many characters do you want the final (this also mean final DLC characters) roster? 44 characters is insane amount of characters so adding more is crazy. Q7: Why did Danny Phantom series get multiple reps than oppose to 1 or 2 new character? I can understand Spongebob, Avatar, Fairly Odd Parents, and 3rd party characters getting multiple reps since they are flag ship characters but why Danny Phantom getting three new characters? Q8: Are we going to see other characters from Super Brawl 3 and other Super Brawl games to return? Would love to see Aggressive and Mermain Man Spongebob to return so we could have 4 Spongebob in the same game XD Q9: Is Patrick going to get a Classic Patrick similar to Classic Spongebob and Classic Timmy? Q10: When adding new characters, what characters do you add? Popular, obscure, gameplay mechanic, or all of the above? Q11: squidward please :) Q12: Will there be boss characters or just a buff playable character in the arcade mode? Q13: What character did you want in the game that sadly got cut? Q14: How long does a reused character sprite take to make than making a whole new sprite such as Zim. Q15: What makes Super Brawl Showdown different to the other Super Brawl games? thank you for your comment. it makes me happy to see how much people appreciate this game. i'll do my best to answer your questions! Q1: honestly, i was originally going to have tak use his 2D pixel art sprites from the nickelodeon gba/ds games. but since this game got more popular, i ended up deciding to redraw the pixel art sprites myself and have everything looking much nicer. as a result, all of the pixel art characters are going to end up getting their sprites replaced eventually. for tak, i am going to try my hardest to make sure he gets his 3D sprites. i don't have too much experience working with 3D models, but thankfully, someone who joined the team recently has some experience and may be able to help make that happen. Q2: in the same fashion as we were able to put together moves for the old 2D characters. i look through the character sprites and look for poses or pieces that fit the animation frame that i'm trying to put together. some frames are reused from other animations, and others are cobbled together by cutting up pieces of other frames. they're not all super pefect, but minor seams are hardly noticeable during gameplay. obviously this has limitations, but we've been able to make it work thus far. Q3: yes. due to the high volume of requests, i have decided to manually redraw all the pixel sprites for a nicer look. Q4: yes! right now i've been working very closely with someone who joined the project after i posted one of the trailers. i'm always open to more help putting the game together since it's quite hard and i don't make any money; though i suppose it depends on how well we end up working together as well. Q5: king julien was a big one. unlike fanboy, king julien's assist character actually has to move around and deal damage and whatnot. i ran into a lot of trouble trying to make that work without bugs; and even still there's a minor visual bug when doing his super special. additionally, king julien's super brawl 2 sprites were made separately (primarily the super special, since that was added in sb2), so they are about 2x bigger than the rest of his sprites. this made it very hard to line up his animations so that his moves look seamless during gameplay. a good runner up is the punching bag, becuse its been quite difficult to translate knockback into its dynamic shaking animation, and balancing a fighter who can't move. Q6: i don't have a set goal to be quite honest. the DLC serve as characters and content that i definitely really want to add to the game, but only after all of the base game stuff is finished if that makes any sense? i don't want to end up promising this insane amount of content and then the game never really feels finished, so i relegated a lot of guilty pleasure stuff to DLC. stuff that i'd really wish i could add but isn't important enough to be in the main game, yknow? i plan to make as many dlc updates as i have ideas for. making this game is fun, so i could really keep going forever. realistically though, i will probably get bored at some point and that's when the updates will slot; or at the very least go on a long hiatus. i already have a lot of big plans for the dlc, and i'm excited to show off what we can do when there's no limit on who or what we can add (by that i mean animated characters from other networks) Q7: i always felt that danny phantom was severely underrepresented in super brawl. both his series and fairly oddparents were some that i felt needed improved representation. originally, i had just picked dark danny to be the one newcomer. but eventually, i was able to discover that due to his video games, there are a wealth of danny phantom sprites online. it was quite unusual, so i felt i had to make the most of having so many options compared to other series; who don't have any sprites i can pull from to make new fighters. it was definitely also influenced by one of my close friends being a big danny phantom fan haha. Q8: yes! we definitely have big plans for adding fighters from previous games. originally, i wanted to add in ALL the super brawl 3 fighters. but i quickly discovered that ripping super brawl 3 sprites is extremely hard, and no one has been able to do it yet. this is why korra was originally going to be her SB4 version. eventually i decided to just bite the bullet and manually cut out korra's sprites from screenshots of the game. once we figure out the best way to get sprites this way, we want to add more SB3 characters. aggressive spongebob would most likely appear as an alt for SB2 spongebob, though. Q9: we played with the idea, but ultimately decided there will just be one patrick. classic spongebob was added in because he is very important to SB1 and SB2, and classic timmy was added because i always felt that the original version of timmy worked better as a separate character from the actual timmy, who can call on so much more than just his cleft persona. patrick doesn't really 'need' a separate character that better represents him. i think we will probably make an alt with newer sprites without his towel, but not a completely different character. another reason for this, is that right now, in the game, when viewing the CSS by series, spongebob's series has two rows with 5 characters. this leaves 3 empty slots to fill up the row. any more would start a new row, so i want to keep the amount of future spongebob reps to ~3; and i'd want them to be new characters instead of alternate versions of characters the game already has. Q10: pretty much all of the above. there's a lot of thought that goes into each pick. when picking the base roster, i thought primarily about what would be the best picks for newcomers in a sequel to super brawl 2. as i mentioned before, i also thought very hard about what series needed better representation and how that should be achieved vs. what is even possible. i have a soft spot for the more obscure characters, especially with the super brawl series. fanboy, chum chum, rico, dudley puppy, monkey... they're all characters i feel would normally be forgotten and never show up in a big crossover. in that regard, it feels like the game has allowed us to explore some of the more obscure characters that otherwise would not have been well remembered. this was the major factor behind choosing lord nitro to serve as the game's antagonist, and picks like the catscratch cats, tak, globulous maximus, and wubbzy. Q11: C; Q12: there will be both. boss characters is something i've really been excited about adding. its something i feel would really spice up tournament mode, and would be very fun to do in campaigns. unfortunately, not every series has a lot of content to pull from, so some series will get a buffed fighter rather than a unique boss. i'd also like to make lord nitro a boss at some point in the future, though its not set in stone. Q13: zoe avez is a big one. i originally cut her when i decided to limit the number of slots in the base roster because i wanted to cover more ground and el tigre felt like a series that didn't really NEED two newcomers; compared to the more popular invader zim. olmec from legends of the hidden temple was another one i really wanted to add. felt like having a second stationary character would feel like a waste of a slot, and would work better if it was a wacky pick for dlc or something like that. i really wanted norm the genie to be in as well, but i wouldn't really say he was 'cut'. i knew pretty early on that he wouldn't be getting in to the base roster, considering that i had already picked a second timmy and a crocker. in a similar group is also tak from invader zim, vega from my teenage life as a robot, and lucy loud from the loud house. (do you see the pattern) Q14: making sprites from patchwork old sprites is definitely a lot faster and easier. there's a lot of work that goes into drawing each frame, and sometimes i have to completely redraw a frame if it ends up not coming out how i wanted it to (like for example, the animation is too stiff or something). i could get through about 2 frames per hour while working. Q15: there's a lot of love going into this game, super brawl 3 and onward feel less like they were made by fans, and made more cheaply. there's a lot of heart in super brawl 2 that i wanted to expand on on my game. there were so many things fans had complained about or requested from the original 2, and i thought that maybe i could make that a reality as a result, pretty much every part of the game has been made with love and care, down to every little detail and reference to each show. i really try my best to make sure every series gets the best representation that it can. not to mention, the combat has been refined so that even competitive players can really get into it.

If there is any character I would like to see, it would be Dr. Paula Hutchison. I know she's a weird choice for a fighter but I think that this character could work well using various different medical equipment to fight with and the fact that she can literally preform a right hook with her hook hand is just funny to me. If you don't want to put Hutch in that's fine, but any Rocko's modern life rep would do. Which of course includes the titular wallaby.

i am actually incredibly intrigued by this request haha. i never watched a whole lot of rocko's modern life, so i'm not too familiar with her, but she looks like she could end up making a really fun moveset. unfortunately, i ended up not picking rocko for the base roster, but if there's a dlc/update that adds rocko, you can be sure that she will be there alongside him.

of course! id love to see the video!! i would like to point out though, that this isn't a mod. i remade the game from the ground up in html5 and added my own stuff in. i only used sounds and sprites from the previous game, all the code is mine.
