In today’s vlog, i take a look at some Super Cheap Rooms For Rent in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Are you looking for affordable and comfortable accommodations in the beautiful city of Chiang Mai? The city still has many cheap options. Today i look a 3 different rooms ranging from $59 to $80 per month.
Chiang Mai is a popular tourist destination in Thailand and is known for its rich history, culture, and stunning natural landscapes. It's no wonder that so many people want to visit and experience all that Chiang Mai has to offer. However, finding affordable accommodations can be a challenge for some people.
These rooms are in a great location on the Ping River and just a short walk from Chiang Mai’s nightlife. The rooms are very basic but have everything you need. They come with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and a private bathroom. Some of the rooms even have a balcony.
In addition to their excellent location and amenities, these rooms are also incredibly affordable. At just $59 to $80 per month, they are perfect for budget-conscious travelers who want to make the most of their trip to Chiang Mai without breaking the bank.

I stayed in something similar...I think it was called Sherri Apartments...Near Mia Mall... 90$ US and month.. $120 with utilities... big studio..great view...large window, plenty of natural light...fridge, wardrobe... desk... nice size western bathroom... clean... free wifi... great mix of Thai locals and Ferang...security entry and great landlord... Loved it... Loved the location... Great cheap food area mixed with modern hipster restaurants...month to month... No contract or security deposit...Not sure why so many manily older westerners are obessed with having all the bells and whistles...or are convinced the place has to be over 500$ for it to be safe and clean... or travel vloggers, aka passport bros want to look like their living the high life... For me location is the most important...and if its clean and I feel secure... cause living aboard is more about gaining the experiences... Not living in a penthouse

Those aren't that bad at all! Nice find! It helps to understand the range of rental prices and options around town. That 2,800THB place could easily be fixed up, new bed, a chair, microwave, new paint, etc. Sweet! Thank you for this Wayne!!

Not half bad for the price Wayne and you could likely buy your own comfy bed if you planned to stay there long term which would be an excellent investment. Assuming there was no hot water for the shower though but with the climate there its hardly an issue. Another excellent video. Cheers mate 🤩

Wayne I lived like a Thai in Pattaya 32 years ago for 5 years and my room was good, I only had a fan but my room was much bigger and never got too hot. I also bought a gas bottle and cooked on the balcony and had nice views both sides. Before bed I would throw my shorts and singlet etc in a bowl with soap and fill with hot water from a tank on the roof, then pin em up next morning before going out with my mates. I had my own tv that I paid cable for and of all the places and various quality hotels I have ever stayed in since that cheap room holds the fondest memories of mine. Cheers mate 😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing! The first aircon room was okay for the price, the last one was a nice place for 2800 Bath. And if you only have 1 room and stay outside most of the time, the 1 Bath+ overprice on the electric would not hurt that much. For one like me when I retire, it would be a great place to get the feet on the ground before I got something more permanent. And I would be able to save a large part of my pension. 😊

@@WalkAboutWayne What a lot of retirees and other expats don't realize, is that by renting a place like this the first 3-6 or even 12 months(depending on budget) you could save enough money to buy a new 125-160cc scooter or a 2-3 years old 300-650 cc motorbike. Instead they go renting a luxurious condo or villa for 20-30 000 Bath or more to show off. I know I will go the cheapo route in the beginning when I retire in Thailand.

I stayed in a room like this in 2019. For 3 weeks. Fan room. Daily rate was about 300 THB. The main difference is it is near Thapae. So the surrounding is nicer. Otherwise, it is about the same. That kind of window has no noise insulation. If the neighbors decide to make love, you can hear very clearly...... I could see at least a Farang who stayed there for months.

That landlady is SUPER NICE, again! I think you got the monthly pricing. If you were to stay for six months or a year, the price should be about Bt.1300 for the one without AC. Why? Bt.4000 can get you a very nice room, near CMU, with AC. And, on the plus side, living with students is so much better. Thai students are very respectful and thoughtful of others, at least the girls are.

Hi Jack, thanks for watching. I would say yes, it would be ok, but you would need to ask first. Most cheap places like this would be happy with the improvements i think. Especially if your on a long contract. Thanks.

That second room was kind of dark and depressing. I don't think I could do it for long. The third one was pretty acceptable but I'd have issue with the awkward shower placing in all. I think we must be opposites in mattress preferences. I prefer mine to be as firm as possible. I'd sleep on a lightly padded board if I could...555!
@WalkAboutWayne

I agree Earl, the second one was my least favorite. I don't think that one would be a very happy place. I was surprised by the third one. It wasn't bad at all for 2,800 and free wifi and fridge. Maybe a hard mattress would do me good mate.

Location should be in the description. You can look them up. It's not the sort of places to make bookings though. Just turn up and see what rooms they have. Thanks.

Look at Facebook groups for the cities that your going. Chiang Mai has some cheap room groups. Nothing beats heading out on foot once you arrive though.

@@WalkAboutWayne Saw a similar place in Pattaya some years ago where 3-5 bar girls were sharing. 3-4k IIRC. One mattress on the floor etc. You're correct that you can clean it up but my biggest concern after that would be noise.

i am living in extreme POVERTY here in canada, my pension is $1000, minus all expenses i barely have food, i only eat 2 meals a day, on really cheap grocery food, i cook at home all the time., no car, no phone, 1 cellphone on per call basis, which i rarely use. Rent takes up 80% of my budget.

All well and good - but for those who would need such low rents they likely can't deal with the Govt. immigration dysfunction and idiotic inconsistent policy ? The extra expense all that requires is likely a deal braker for many. -- Cambodia is a lot more welcoming and inexpensive !

True, it is a hassle to stay here with all the immigration costs and visits. I still live here really cheap though. I will have to try Cambodia soon. 👍

its a vibe honestly and I think that i would actually enjoy living there. The fact that you would be living among the Thai people like they do. not far from shops and restaurants. The only thing that i would want is a desk... Im curious what 150-200 would get you
@WalkAboutWayne
@WalkAboutWayne Год назад
Yes, it's not the worst place. A few bits of furniture and it would look a lot better. 150 - 200 is a bit step up with the rooms here. You can get something nicer for that.
