I dont play cv's much and tbh i dont play this game that much in general but why am i the only one who plays that class ever cus ive never had trouble with dealing with cv's past a few moments in a DD and when i play with a cv anything other than a few types of lone DD's seems to blow every single plane ive ever had out the water. I agree super cv's are bad but thats because i think the super ship tier is a bad idea if theyre going to be paired up with lower tiers But for the love of god give tell me why those things are op because i just don't get it.
WG 2017: "USS Enterprise will soon be available. Her specialty is a strong drop per strike." WG 2023: "USS Enterprise will soon be available. Her specialty is her high speed compared to other vessels at Warp 9,5 with strong phaser banks and multiple launchers for photon torpedoes."
WG 2025: "USS Enterprise will soon be available. Her speciality is her large bulk at 3 miles length, combined with heavy armament, shielding, and her capability to field unlimited repair teams."
I'm sorry I did not hear you mentioning anything about the continues cloaking device that dose not care about shooting at things, the shields rated at being able to repel multiple solar luminosity's also it might be able to blow you up in the past. Can't forget the important stuff now can we.
Ah yes, I’d forgot about the part of the Battle of the Denmark Strait where Blackburn Buccaneers found and sank the Bismarck with anti-ship missiles within minutes of her leaving port. So excited to finally be able to re-enact this iconic moment in game.
Technically a carrier does not launch seaplanes, they launch and retrieve ordinary aircraft. Seaplanes are aircraft that take off from and land on the water, World of Seaplanes would see you swarmed by Catalina Flying Boats and kingfishers
Coming Soon!! ™ Tier XI SuperSubs: Now with Nuclear Missiles! Works like the bomber squadron cosumable but with unlimited range so that you can annihilate the entire enemy spawn without even using your brain.
trust me, they're gonna do it. it's gonna be the super gimmick every few minutes or so, and you will only be able to fly in one direction with very limited steering. it's gonna be balanced cause newbs won't hit them at first but veterans are gonna nail every destroyer for 30k.
WG in 2021: "We are adding superbattleships to explore artilery focused designs that could have been built in a world where carriers didnt dominate naval warfare" WG in 2022: *Adds supercarriers*
I asked WG about that on today's stream and Conway's response was (paraphrased) "Yes, but that was when we were just introducing super-battleships. Carriers are part of the game, and we've rolled out other types of superships now, so it wouldn't be complete without them"
"if nations kept building artillery focused ships, they would've realized that CV are more dominating on the high seas" There, that's the entire statement that must have just not been translated properly.
Superships are typically extreme late-stage ship designs that were rarely feasibly implementable and were often outlandish in their proposed capabilities. HMS Eagle is more the exception than the rule, while USS United States was absolutely the H-46 of carriers, with her bombers planned to carry literal nukes at one point in time.
just put in the Forrestal its literally a called super carrier, existed, and was commissioned in 1955 if wg still cares about fitting into the proper "time period"
@@kagakai7729 Is the point of super ships to be unreasonable? Then yes, they should go for United States and replace eagle by Habakuk. If the point of superships is be the next step in evolution, then why follow a dead branch instead of going for an actual CV? If refit midway is too small a step, then go for Forrestal.
Well if they are putting the USS United States in then they could've totally put the Forrestal and Kitty Hawk classes in as well, maybe even the Enterprise. The Long Beach (CGN-9) could even pass for a super cruiser as well. If they keep it up, they might as well give the Soviet ships Styx missiles. I don't get it. If Wargaming wanna do a cold war and/or modern naval warfare title, it would've been better for them to do it as more of a standalone title or expansion. It's not smart for them to casually powercreep the preexisting WOWS content to no end and gimp the current playerbase with more modern superweapons while they toy with their ideas. :(
They have been doing this with World of Tanks forever, so it makes sense for them to push it here. Plus with what the other Free to Play games that are similar to this are doing. I think this will just push more players away from high tier content, I know I already am playing way more tier 5 to 7 ships, they just feel better.
If they've got to add more powerful ships, they could always add new tiers. Of course, that would mean people might expect the new tier to be balanced, and we can see what they think of _that_ concept...
The future of WoWs... 5 minute matches where each team kills eachother with jets, supersonic rockets, cruise missiles, use of satellite radar to spot whole map, get 5 kills then get a nuke, etc...
Not fixing the bad chat system, not fixing the bugs with the dispersion nor rendering, not fixing this bullshitty mm (nor including +/-1), not fixing harbour performance, no new map, no manual AA to counter with skill against CVs (-skill), no real counter against fire. But hell yeah, we wanted super Ships including Jets.
So why do people keep playing games they hate? You see this in every game. Same thing in World of Warcraft, a small loud subset of players who can't tell us enough how much they hate the game they are playing. It's a free world, go play something else?
@@chrisaustin9949 because wows has no competition. For example if a shooter is trash than you just play another one, but wows is literally its own thing. And thats why wg can make it as bad as they want, since they know people who want to play a game about naval warfare have no alternative.
its because USS United States was going to be a platform for bombers carrying tactical nukes and had almost zero capability for concentional warfare. if you look at wargaming's design, its actually a mix of 1947, 1948 design of USS United States with modifications for none-nuclear missions like replacing retractable bridge with an actual bridge. and adding early warning radar. the wargaming version of uss united states is 1947 design hull with funnels and side catapult for fighters from 1948 design and added an island for bridge and radar.
Honestly to me it kinda looks like the wikipedia article's picture for it but just with a superstructure slapped on top... They probably guessed that a flat top carrier with an armored deck was too bullshit, even for them?
My initial response in the clan Discord was "Supership carriers. Oh my God." This was followed shortly thereafter by "FUCKING JET AIRCRAFT!?". That should say it all, I expect.
@@MattH88S to a point it has.. 90% of the people i played with 2-3 years ago have left and said they wont be coming back. the common denominator is the imbalance of CV's. A lot of new people are playing now, but the quality of the games at higher tiers are a lot worse. Its too easy now to buy your way and play T10 battles with no experience in how to play the game. So.. CV's did drive away, IMO, a lot of older and more capable players but have been replaced by a different group of people that dont have the experience. BUT.. thats just my opinion as i said. A good CV player can very much target and ship and remove it from the game. You cant mitigate that with positioning like you can with other ships and you cant shoot back. NOW.. it hasnt 'killed' the game, but the game has suffered just the same.
@@marmalade6681 and most of the people I've played with are still around, these anecdotes are pointless. Wargaming has their data they are acting on, and as a company that desires to make money, I'm quite certain that increasing their player pool and improving player retention are things they base decisions on. If the community was actually hemorrhaging players when new CVs were announced, I'm 100% certain Wargaming would be aware of this and act accordingly to save their bottom line. Pride only means so much when bean counters get involved. If they continue to introduce carriers, it means their data is indicating players either have no issue with them or enjoy them. It's likely a vocal minority of players that hate CVs when you account for the 95% of the playerbase that just plays the game and doesn't comment on the forums or youtube. CVs have literally the lowest dpm in the game. If you get caught out and "removed", then you apparently positioned poorly and have little understanding about mitigating CV damage with movement. A Schlieffen will remove an isolated individual from the game much faster than any CV can or will, and there is no dodging her secondaries nor point-blank torps.
Man i never thought i would say this but i pray to i dunno what , that the barriers of reality break down and that Wargaming ends up in Commoragh (40k fans will know).
@@D4rkn3ss2000 lets be real, Vect is one of 40k's biggest asshole but I wouldn't punish him that much. After interacting with WG for a few minutes he would rather choose the sweet embrace of Slaanesh.
This was totally predictable on WG’s side adding jets to a WW2 game. Imagine this ship with tier 8 ships, so you have jets facing a Bismarck or something similar ?
@@michaelmcnally2331weren’t they adding them in random battles ? If so knowing WG there is a high chance that they will make tier 8 face super ships xD
Hey at least we haven't seen an ultra-fantasy variant of the Tone class where they have Harpoon and Tomahawk missiles instead of aircraft bolted to the stern. Wait, what's that I'm hearing? Tone-class guided missile cruiser? Tier whatnow?
I considered leaving this game for nearly a year, but this looks like the final sh*t! I quit, before they release these nightmares. Rip good old WoWs, time to burn my free time with something else.
I used to play World of Tanks from 2015 to the end of 2018. I knew at that time that my favourite game was being ruined by WG since around start of 2017 but I still liked it so I kept playing because it was only game I could play like a unicum player and I enjoyed being better than 90% of playerbase. Then I migrated to: World of Warships around time of CV revork in 2019. Learned from my mistakes in WoT so instead of spending around 100-150 euro on game in total I only spent 3 euro on WOWS in total. Only grinded ships up to tier 8 and again I was skilled and aggressive player who enjoyed bullying WoWS infamously dumb player base in randoms. Played wows until around mid-2020 when I realized WOWS have reached even worse state than WoT. Never playing games made by WG ever again.
So, Japanese in their infinite wisdom did, according to WG, a war refit of Atago that made the ship worse, hence it's tier lower. And then WG slapped a gimmick to make sure it's strong enough for this tier.
Maya's design is actually the one historically accurate thing in this entire devblog lol. By herself she would probably be too similar to Myoko but they went completely overboard with the gimmicks.
Can we get an T 11 version of the war canoe next? You know: 2km detectability, 20 torpedoes, 15 guns with base 100mm of HE armor penetration? And reload for both weapons systems at 2s and 30s? FFS WG...
At this point, modern warships sound like a better idea than these new super ships. I mean, the Modern Warships mobile game is basically WOWs with 21st century navies. Oh well, at least wg's art department gets to shine again.
The WG art department is the only good thing remaining in this game. I had a thought the other day to maybe come back to WoWS and try the new German BBs, because I loved secondary builds, but I decided not to deal with that chaos.
yeah well that modern war ships game is aboslute trash. I tried it since I wanted the kirov and it was okay but then carries.... you cant shot the planes down. That literally doesn't happen and they strike you for 1/5 of you health and can strike you 2-3 times before they fly over you. They can very very quickly kill and this is like in a matter of like 20 seconds...
Playerbase: "CVs are way too OP now, WG fix this shit!" WG: adding Kitakami with torp and AA consumable Also WG: "There has been a miscommunication..."
maybe Wg will make special kind of battles just for CV's , filled with bots so CV players can fullfill their sadistic dreams on bots, not ruining game for other players. (Ofc u can join this battle with surface ship if u want, but i can bet u 97% of player base if given choice will avoid any game involving any kind of CV)
Wg: "Let's add super-ships! They can be tier 11!" Also WG: "Let's now add super-carriers! They will be tier 20!" Everyone else: "Excuse me what the fuck"
Except Takao is tier 8 whereas this is tier 7. So that means it gets those consumables... At a lower tier. Those consumables at tier 7 is VERY surprising.
Black Friday and Xmas are over and all the fools went crazy spending money whilst ignoring the past development of the game and WG s attitude...so what do you expect, ofc they ll continue on their path... it only took em 2 months of sweet talking and ppl awarded them with money despite of all the BS of the past 2 years so ofc it s gonna continue the way it did before sweet talking became necessary to cash in on the holidays. P.S.: ...oh and now we know why they consider changing plane spotting :) yay
Wasn't the point of superships to be fictional ships in a world where CVs wouldn't have been the focus in the end of WW2. Wasn't it the point to have ships with bigger guns or new stronger weapons rather than planes. I am confused...
@@lorisschuchardt5682 Well nice to see that people who are doubtful about Wargaming decisions and who are hoping for the game to continue to be viable, are the Problem. I will help you understand my concerns better. On the fifth of October 2021 there was a devblog released at 12.00 who state the following: " It represented our view of how military shipbuilding could have evolved if the decision had been made to continue building powerful artillery ships." So once again I ask what were the superships introduced as? Evolution of artillery ships!!! It is too early to know what kind of impact super CVs will have but what they have shown us is not a great idea and is defeating the concept of superships
Ah yes I remember watching this stuff on history channel about operation Ten-Go where Yamtoo actually got attacked by 52 Jets with surface to ground missiles, shit is nuts. Thanks to wg for putting the effort into small details
Welp, I remember the good old days playing this in CBT and in the first year or so post launch. It was my favourite game, so sad to see what it has become due to Wargamblings greed and incompetence. I remember people complaining about the speed of Saipan planes when it came out, and how fast you could make repeated strikes, these jet aircraft are on an entirely different level. Next they'll be throwing in Tomahawk cruise missiles from guided missile ships.
I was excited for hornet as its one of my favorite historical ships, but that quickly died with the realization that they’re adding supercarriers, I mean the United States literally looks like a modern supercarrier. Weegee strikes again
@@_badger_9902 the tactical squads of the only ones that have the Jets and they work on the same basis like the tone or Kearsarge where you will not be able to launch them right away they're on a timer
The A2J Savage was designed to drop nuclear bombs (or 12,000 lbs of conventional bombs).. Just think about that: we will have a nuclear bomber blowing the crap out of gunboats. Also, it was never equipped with torpedos, so nice job there Wargaming.
So HMS Eagle, a carrier so modern it was still in service in one of the worlds foremost navies in the 1970s, is going to be fighting ships built in the 1930s, say Yamato to pick a name out of the hat. The Eagle will have most of its stations manned by people born AFTER the end of ww2. It’s not even the same era I mean wtf
So now we have Yorktown, Enterprise, and Hornet all in the game. I love the history of the ships, but they're literally all from the same class. What's the justification behind this besides money?
At least with Hornet, it has the option to use the B-25B Mitchell bombers, given that was the ship the Doolittle Raid took off from, and I would hope that's the plan (as much as army level bombers will be aids to deal with) but still, aside from the history we don't need more CVs in the game.
CVA58 - United States - was originally a through deck flush decker with no Island. Norman Friedman's book US Aircraft Carriers (P243 if you have that book) shows an impression from October 1948 that looks quite a lot like the WoWs model with Banshees and Neptunes on deck. They also made a seakeeping model with Cutlesses on deck.
Well it sounds like I absolutely want Maya, mostly cause I really like Takao-class CAs anyways, but those stats sound nice. I do realize they say ships are being tested and stats may change. And I wish they'd fix CV gameplay first and actually give us a defence against planes cause even with the best AA it's still not enough.
I won’t be surprised if Maya’s tier 7 was just a typo that was never fixed. Apart from those stats that are comparably busted to the Myoko, she’s compared more to the Atago than the same tier Myoko. Hell even if they bump her up a tier she’ll still be a strong T8 cruiser, that should really be the move considering how much T8’s earn better than the T7 premiums anyway
TheRealJohnux i mean, as different as the Maya was to the Takao class. Mutsu and Musashi were just pre-refit versions of their bigger sisters. Maya was a refit version with 8 and not 10 guns among other changes
Could they at least update the effect of radar to extend range and effectiveness of aa? Actually give cv something to sweat about if it flies over an active bubble and take a little of the pressure off dds as cruisers have to burn through their radars.

i think wg looks at people making memes about jet planes being added, and they use that as an excuse to add then. much like how its only new players who played for 5 hrs asking for subs, so they used that as an excuse to add then. at this rate theyre actually going to add ballistic missiles unironically
Tbh I wouldnt be suprise if wargaming decided to add more tier and add cold war ships only because there is a certaint amount of blueprint and ship dated from that era that eventually they will run out of ships without creating there own. Atleast they added the proper IJN Maya
2022 The Year of Modernisation of game apparently what else coming? First Yets Second Cruise Missiles and CIWS? Third Nuclear Submarines that launch 180 knot torps at you oh boi this year is gonna be fun 🤣
@@HeyNobody_OG Imagine playing a BB and it launches a 65-76 at you, one hour of wake-homing fun times with 3 times the explosive mass of Japanese Type 93, all of which detonates below the hull and thus would probably be citadel damage. Coming soon at tier 12
Introducing the brand new ship Pyotr Veliky, This battlecruiser unlike it's battleship ancestor carries Anti-ship missiles, ASW rockets, Surface to Air missiles, Dual purpose guns, torpedoes and has an "advanced" aim assist thanks to the onboard computers and radars. It can also launch helicopters that can be used for "Recon" purposes We plan to add more ships like this in the future as it helps the gameplay to be more engaging and fun, one such example is the modernized Missouri that was used in Operation Desert Storm and a new "Ground Effect Vehicle" category for the Lun Class Ekranoplan
The funny thing is; when they presented the first super battleships the idea behind it was: if aircraft carriers hadn't gained a prominent role in WWII, how would future artillery-based ships have developed? Well now we have super aircraft carriers ... Now we just need super super battleships to see what kind of ships would have been created if super aircraft carriers didn't exist. ahahahahaha
All of this would be fine if superships had their own mode. But no, then WG wouldn't make enough money. The whole draw of superships is being able to dump on Tier IX and X ships in an unfair fight.
To follow up Jingles comment, that bomber on the United States is a North American AJ Savage ( A-2 Savage ) - only 140 odd were built and mostly saw service as a photo recon aircraft in Korea in the 50's and for air to air refueling, although it was designed as a nuclear bomber for carriers. It was large, complicated and unreliable, its wings had to be folded manually one at a time by a dude with a portable hydraulic pump standing on the fuselage... which was slow and unpopular - as you can imagine. Although it was apparently nice to fly, when it worked. They were replaced with Skywarriors starting in 1959. So yea... not the best choice for their fantasy circle-jerk.
I wish I could uninstall the game twice bcz now I'd love to hammer that button Went thru the sub buffs dev blog before you posted the vid, alt f4ed after seeing the dumbass 75% ASW airstike nerf, booted up the wg launcher and with no hesitaion i uninstalled the game 13/5 would do that again
Maya is actually pretty historically accurate. Her third turret was removed during her 1943 refit in order to add more AA guns. As for the other additions to the game, inebriation was certainly involved.
Ok WG, put supercarriers and their ridiculously fast planes in the game. But you must also give every BB, cruiser and DD that will face them AA that blows them out of the sky with ease.
