Excellent video Stewy! The C17 was a lovely treat to our airport. I was parked on the highway opposite you for the C17 take off, you almost got me in the video..lol
I 💖 Airplanes. Enjoy watching them land & take off from I was a child. Dreamt of being a Stewardess or Pilot. Didn't happen but that's OK😊 Now I enjoy traveling & riding in them😊Thanks for sharing.
The departure is very breath taking to see the plain lift up straight with its back down its just a WOW😮, i never fly b4 but will with someone holding my hands going up like that😊
Very smooth transition, it's just the sweetest feeling ever when you are onboard and it takes off, the noise just disappears except for the engines running and passenger chatter and when you look outside from up high the view is just breath taking, now you have me wanting to fly, have a blessed one now and thanks for watching and commenting
Of course the military can decide anything they need. It takes precedence over commercial flights everywhere in the world. If a country doesn't have a military base, there's no other option.
so before the days of exiting and entering the plane by the bridge there use to be the observation deck where love one's and friends could watch your flight land and take off. any one viewing this channel were born then or old enough to remember.I am wondering why the authorities gotten rid of the observation decks at our airports.
I remember one time as a child I went on the waving gallery at Mbj to see my aunt climb the steps to the airplane but I was more interested in seeing the airplane, some might argue since you can't see the passengers anymore, have a blessed one William
Beautiful footage. My last visit to Jamaica, was October 22 and while waiting in the departing flight back to London. I saw one of those US military aircraft, departing or arriving at Kingston. I was quite stunned by it!😊
God bless air controllers in the world ❤! I have to say something when I see comments about the green vegetation. Leave the greenery alone. That is what makes Jamaica land beautiful. I love to see the greenery when landing. The problem with many countries is cutting everything down making it very hot.They're destroying God's beautiful earth because of greed. Last, but not least, some Jamaicans complain too much. Enjoy the beauty of God and that he gives you complainers another day to open your eyes to see another day. If you're that fortunate to see another day, go and volunteer at the homeless shelter and see how bless you are❤
I think Landings are way more exciting than Departures although Take offs are more unnerving for everyone!! Once again, Thank You for this video! My grandchildren were thrilled to watch them both.❤️🇯🇲

It is wonderful to see the planes taking off and landing. I would like to commend the workers in the Tower communicating with the Pilots arriving and departing from the airport in Kingston and Montego Bay. I am very Proud of the workers in the Tower. I thank God for his Goodness so that the Airports could reopen and planes ✈️ can arrive and and take off again, God is good all the time. Big up Jamaica 🇯🇲 land of our birth. ✈️✈️👍

I think runway length was the concern because of the amount of time it was mentioned in the pilot tower conversation, thanks for watching and commenting have a great one
I was really confused as to why the pilot was calculating so much 🤔 I would assume the airline companies checked the runway specifications PRIOR to sending larger planes to any country at all. I know it’s better to be safe than sorry, but it’s like purchasing a pair of size 2 shoes for someone who wears a size 10 without checking with them first. I think it was negligence on the part of the airline, or maybe the pilot was terrified to take off over water. I’m not a pilot, I’m just an outsider looking in. Big up to the ATC who handled the situation professionally!
I was just searching for videos on the airport and saw some of yours, and I wasn’t disappointed. Your videos brings back memories of the old days we would go to the upper part of the airport to watch the planes arrive and leave, until they removed the upper part.

@@seanwilson5516 If you don't know, you don't know. But you are in fact correct, why should ANY Jamaican in JAMAICA, feel the need to 'Jamerican' for foreigners.
I should say this is one of the United States best heavy lifting air the c - 17 globemaster but one of the strongest aircraft in the fleet i should say is the c - 5m Super Galaxy much larger and stronger then the C-17 but as a Jamaican living in the United States and become a citizen and join the military I get the chance to fly and both aircraft but my preference is the c - 5m Super Galaxy 💯🇯🇲🇺🇸😲😀🙄🥺✌️👍
The issue with the rwy distances was due to the full length of rwy not being rdy for use. However the new RNP procedures were updated (factoring the would be new rwy distances) hence ATC giving the old rwy distances
You should teach them about where in the AIP for MKJS all of this data is captured. it is good reading for the aviation geeks, has the signal interference issue in the small sector of the DVOR radial been fully resolved now?
I see from google that the fully loaded takeoff distance for the united b737-900 is 9700 feet. I think the runway length is less than that. Landing wasnt a problem because they only need a bit over 6000 feet for that. The jetblue a321 needs a bit over 6000 so no problem there either. The delta 757 could probably take off in 3000 feet given their reputation so i think that explains why onky the united 737-900s had the issue.

Hi Stewy, I know this video has been posted for a long time, but just getting around to watching now, my thoughts on united 1160: he first asked for back taxi, which allows him to move the airplane all the way to the fence to get the full length runway, because she's overweight. the controller told him that he can only do that on the other end of the runway and judging by the trees, there's no wind so it wouldn't matter which end to take off from. taxiing to the other end would burn off some fuel and give him a longer runway.
If I remember correctly the aircraft with challenges were the United 737-900s , i think those airplanes are under powered ,even on a regular day they use up a lot of runway compared to a similar size Airbus,I think they made their original flight plan with the new runway length even though the extension wasn't open
It is trival indeed, since there are bushes beyond, and he’s filming from a far off with bushes in between. Do you think he’s filming from the airport properly. Big renovations going on there too..
@@1STEWY very relaxing. You could not pay me enough to get that big USA Airforce plane. My husband had the pleasure of flying on Airforce 10 in the USA army. Keep it up. As someone said " can't please everyone ".

Not sure if you noticed or not. Still, just wanted to point out that the runway extension is so new that Google Maps still shows the old highway/intersection and alignment as if it is on the runway instead of the new road alignment made so persons can still get around north of the runway to White House.

Every airline has their own minimums which can be higher but no less than required minimums. Also final authority always rests with the pilot in command.
@@paulhaye There are many "minimums" not just approach minimums. Minimum Equipment List for example. There are also minimum requirements for takeoff. These take into account Take-Off Distance Available (TODA) and Take-Off Run Available (TORO). Accelerate-Stop distances are affected by weight and Density Altitude and are usually less than the TODA or TORA. But most would prefer to have a buffer. If the RWY is 2500 meters for example I don't think anyone would want to need 2500 meters to takeoff. Airlines will set their own minimum requirements which give an adequate safety margin that they determine.
Alot of changes comes with this runway extension, approach, hold patterns etc. Also another thing is that the 737-900er does have poor takeoff performance so the numbers have to be right, but everything should be ok once the FMS is updated
It's been just over 30 years since I sat downtown at Oceana hotel and watched the planes taking off and hoping one day one day finally it happened I implore all, that it happened for me it too can happen for you put God first stay in steadfast prayers and believe #love Jamaica to the max.🇯🇲🇺🇸
Nice video. I didn't see nothing wrong with the airstrip when I landed in July. With all the upgrading and renovations going on there I'm hoping to see a nice arrival and waiting area.
