Thank you for the recommendation! I have pretty broad taste in music. I'm usually going to like more up-tempo songs than slower songs. Songs that fuse more than one genre together. Songs that remind me of the music I liked when I was young, back in the late 90s/early 00's.

@@kpopauntie oh, then you can react to their classics - "Sorry sorry", "Mr. Simple" and "U". These songs are from 2007-2011, so more upbeat, techno style with autotune cuz it was stylish at that time)

@@kpopauntie From the little bit of stuff that I learnt from veteran fans, 1) SM has never focus their resources to promote SJ, maybe because SJ was just a project to them? My understanding is Shinee and EXO was SM's priority back in the days. 2) In 2015, SM said it's not time for their comeback yet and refused to do anything for their 10th year anniversary. However 3 of the boys need to enlist that year so it was important to all of them. Not willing to take "No" for an answer, these determined boys secretly fund and source for songs and make their own "Special Album: Devil" to celebrate their 10th year Anniversary all by themselves. After the MV was released, SM took down the MV, put the SM logo on it before uploading it again... However, it wasn't that simple for physical albums, so both their "Special Album: Devil" and "Repackage Album: Magic" did not have SM Logo on them. 3) You can see SJ Label logo together with SM Logo on their MVs now, general perception is SJ Label was a gift from SM to SJ for their 10th year anniversary. But it wasn't really that simple... our leader Leeteuk has proposed, negotiated, begged SM for years, and eventually used their contract renewal as leverage to secure this deal. I won't use the word conflict between them, I've also never read/hear anything abt SJ members unhappy with SM. In fact, with the benefit of hindsight, I feel these challenges made the boys who they are today, and why they are more resilient than most groups... Because they had to fight for themselves right from the start as a project group.

@@champa9ne From what I hear of the music industry worldwide, there is always some level of tension between artist and agency. How the power dynamics are exerted and how that tension works its way out to the surface is what matters. With SuJu being with SM for so long, it sounds like they have resolved their issues peacefully, and yet it doesn't surprise me at all to learn that there were issues to begin with.

Yeah right, you only read some articles that were misinformed or pulled out of the context. Things they were accused of happened ten years or more years ago. And the articles just showed parts of things or quotes happened in variety shows, while English article writers didn’t understand Korean variety show culture at that time. I’m so sick of ppl reading some pieces of articles while understanding zero Korean and culture. Then accusing them all around the internet for sth happened more than ten years ago.

@@hsusandy6968 I legit didn't accuse them of anything, I said they are controversial, and I said they have said questionable things. If they have said things that made people question them as people, then I'd say those are questionable things. Though some things that members have done, and no matter how you look at it are wrong are: Shindong commenting on overweight women and calling them lazy, and saying it is fine that he is overweight because he is a man. Kyuhyun talking about topics Goo Hara specifically asked not to be talked about, and pushing her about it all the way to tears. Kangin having gotten a DUI. Siwon retweeting Homophobic posts aswell as saying that he doesn't want to acknowledge gays because that isn't how god intended people to be. There are still things I'm not mentioning, but those are the things that I know from the top of my mind. It is your decision if you want to support them, but letting Kpop Auntie become a fan and start getting invested, and then to learn those things which might completely destroy Super Junior for her, which would be sad if she's already spent money on them or promoted them a bunch. Again I'm not telling anyone to like or dislike them, I just think you should know about them before you dive any deeper.

Trigger Warning: Su1c1de If you are going to accuse them, at least do it fairly and give examples instead of just posting an unsupported claim. Super Junior is a well respected group in the industry that has been done very dirty in the past. You will not find a single person in the industry, even from other labels/companies who have anything bad to say about them. In fact there are so many idols that will praise them and tell how Suju helped them so much. Yes, there have been "controversies" but are those really justified? Here is a list of the biggest "controversies" they had: - one member is Chinese which set off a scandal back then because having foreigners was unheard of, he left Suju in 2009 (Hangeng) - two members got added later on, they were given a very hard time back then but are also not in the group anymore since around 2010 (Henry & Zhoumi) - one member was drunk driving twice where he turned himself in and had assault charges against him. He has left the group in 2015 after these incidents (Kangin) - the leader lost his father and grandparents on the same day to murder-su1cide in 2014 and some fans fault him for grieving. He is still battling depression (Leeteuk) - one member got married and knetizens did not like that for some reason so he is in hiatus since 2015. He's probably not going to go back to being active in the group ever again (Sungmin) - one member's family dog bit someone and he had to go resolve it even if it had nothing to do with him specifically. Some people wanted him gone for that (Siwon) - one member is painted as the reason why another idol committed su1cide, just because he was an MC in a variety show that forced him to ask uncomfortable questions. He apologized to her immediately behind the cameras and they were always good friends. He also left the show as soon as the contract let him. This was grossly blown out of proportion by the media which led to death threats which led to him being depressed for a long time (Kyuhyun) - one member is still suffering from a car accident in 2006 and thus can't dance in the choreos anymore, so some people aggressively want him gone (Heechul) The only thing I accept was not ok is the whole DUI and assault thing with Kangin. He went to jail for it. He lost his career for it. That was 7 years ago. Many of these things happened in the past or aren't even problems (like getting married isn't wrong or illegal, but Sungmin still lost his career over this; or being Chinese is not something you choose or should be hated over...). Of course things are going to happen when people are in the spotlight for 18 years. The members who did something wrong or are associated with something bad have taken accountability. Others sadly have lost so much without having done anything wrong. It's not fair to hate on the whole group because of these "controversies". On the other hand, look how much good they have done. Siwon is the Southeast Asian Ambassador for UNICEF and regards his work there more important than being a celebrity. There have been dozens of schools in Africa built in their name. Every single catastrophe there are food, material and financial donations from Suju and ELF to the victims to rebuild whatever was lost and to withstand the time until then. They regularly do volunteer jobs in underprivileged areas like teaching or giving out clothes and food bought from their own money. They invest in education both in Korea and abroad. They make donations to animal conservations, to climate projects, and so much more. They openly support LGBTQIA+ and promote body positivity, which was and still is a huge risk for their careers. But they do all that without publicity, so you've probably not heard of any of this. I understand it's not worth writing articles if there are no scandals to cover. Please fact check next time before posting slander.

@@sapphireblue4031 What slander did I say? I didn't say anything bad about them in my original comment, I just said to get to know some more about them before becoming a fan. And in my comment where I said stuff about them, there are things you completely ignored. Siwons homophobia and Shindongs sexism/body shaming. Also there are more things that I have heard about them but that I don't really know if they are true or not, that is why I'm not saying them. Again I didn't say in any comment anywhere that she or anyone else should dislike super junior, or shouldn't become a fan, all I said was that people should do their research before becoming a fan, spending money on and promoting a group, especially super junior since they're one of the groups that I feel like reading up on wouldn't hurt. With the Kyuhyun thing, it doesn't matter if he apologised, and he didn't just ask some uncomfortable questions, he made her cry after asking him to stop. I'm not saying it's the same level, but if I rape someone and they start crying, even if I say I'm sorry right after, what I did was still fucked up. Again I'm not saying what he did was anywhere near as bad as rape, but I'm using it as an example so you understand where I'm coming from. About the good stuff they've done, I've actually not heard about, and it is good that they have done those things if they are true, but that still doesn't mean they are good people, since they could simply be doing it for attention and in actuality not spending much of their money at all on those things, so it barely makes a difference for them. I'm not saying this is the case, I don't think it is, but I would be naive if I completely ignored that that could be the case. Again I don't mean this as hate towards super junior or any of their fans or anyone, I'm just saying, do your research before getting into them, since they are a group that research could be good to do early on instead of regretting supporting them 1 year down the line.
