This really doesn't feel like a celebration at all, this feels like they forgot about the anniversary and rounded up like 10 people to develop it in a month.
Suite Life of Dio Brando Idk I kinda like having a selection of games to play on the NSO apps, although i honestly wish that we would have more systems for it, like, imagine playing one of the OG Mario Party games but on the go and/or online with friends! :D
For so long I've wanted to play these games that I've never played before, and I couldn't be happier that I am able to play them now. Despite how happy I am, I agree with literally everything you said in this video. The lack of customisable controls and SMG2 really annoys me. But what annoys me the most is that they didn't change these games at all. I get that it serves for nostalgia purposes, but they didn't touch up any of the annoying problems with all the old games, especially the camera in SM64. I love these games, but I don't love this collection
@@ireplytoeverything3122 yea but we shouldnt have to use that option for games like these. that fact that u cant use a gamecube controller on mario sunshine is just ridiculous
Yep, even in sunshine, the pachinko stage is beyond broken, I was surprised it was approved back in the day to Nintendo standards and missed the opportunity to fix, it felt like playing an EA game at that point.
Nintendo: You can't emulate our games! Also Nintendo: Here is a Mario 3D collection that is basically running on an emulator and has some slight UI changes.
Nintendo pulled the same barebones effort for the Mario Collection on Wii which was literally a Super Mario All-stars SNES ROM on a disc and Nintendo fans still defended it.
Nintendo: *60 dollars for games that are fairly obtainable with only a graphical polish and nothing else* Take it or leave it But off course Nintendo people will buy it even if it's a bloody ripoff.
@@term1te210 Nintendo should have rereleased it a lot sooner on VC, but no they chose to be stingy and wait for this "anniversary collection" to sell what SHOULD HAVE BEEN a $10, $15, and $20 game for $60 without any added features and slightly worse controls. Whether you chose to buy this collection or buy it from scalpers, you're getting ripped off regardless.
@@MarioSonic46 I literally don't understand why galaxy 2 wasn't included. The game would have definitely been worth $60 if it included all 4 games, even if it was still lazy. 64ds would have also been great.
If Nintendo is just going to emulate them and call it a day, why don't I just save my money and do the same? I already bought these old games back in the day, I have no moral quandaries just turning on Dolphin or another emulator and playing something I already own on another console.
I mean fair enough but why did everyone expect them to add all these extras. The thing we all wanted was all 3 games on switch and they did that conveniently all together for £60 which isn’t overpriced at all since I think shunshine alone is like £55 just because they didn’t put as much effort as crash doesn’t make them lazy.
@@Itachigan22 And why do they have too? 3 of the best games of all time already together 70 hours worth of content. This is perfect for Marios anniversary and enough effort. There’s no need for extra content and all the other stuff everyone was expecting
@@harleyoyelade9988 Sure but is it such a bad thing for them to put stuff like that in this collection anyway? Especially adding in Galaxy 2? Is it so wrong for one of the biggest game developer/ publishers to actually put their money where their mouth is, especially for their flagship series? If other gaming collections like Kirby, Megaman, Crash and Spyro could have even better collections at a reasonable price and are still available, then what's Nintendo's excuse? I'm not saying you're wrong for enjoying this game, I'm just saying that you can't deny that they could've and should've gone all out for this, especially for Mario's 35th birthday.
This whole "laziness" with the Mario 3D Collection is especially egregious when you consider that Nintendo also published Kirby's Dream Collection for the Wii, a game compilation that has lots of effort put into it, from making all the games included work with the Wii remote on its side, to adding a brand new Kirby Challenge mode and even a history section that not only includes info about all the Kirby Games released up to that point in time, but just info about real world history as well. Mario 3D All Stars just feels like Nintendo just phoned it in, with just the soundtracks of the 3 included games as the only extras. When a compilation of Kirby games released during an anniversary has more love and content in it than a collection of 3D Mario platformers, something is clearly wrong.
Tommy Deonauth's Archives Exactly, I was utterly disappointed with this release. They could have added the Japanese exclusive Mario movie remastered with subtitles, art gallery, behind the scenes footage, add content that was cut in development. But nah, just do the minimal, welp back to emulators.
No one talks about it, but I really would've loved to see 3D Land in this collection. People be sleeping on it but it's pretty good game in its own right
There's nothing wrong with defending Nintendo. That's if you come in with actual facts, logic and common sense. Defending Nintendo from any criticism by calling people spoiled brats for reviewing a 60 dollar game they had to pay for isn't okay.
They had a big opportunity to bring back Luigi and add a multiplayer mode in 64 but nope their lazy asses never did heck not adding Galaxy 2 is absolutely bullsh*t they didn’t even show Galaxy 2 it in the final minutes of the direct heck Nintendo could’ve brought in all of the 3D Mario games add new content gallery behind the development of these games and make it that you could buy the game whenever you wanted to that’s worth a collection and worth $60
I didn't really have that high of expectations for the game and since I never played any of these games anyway, I was excited as is. Still didn't get the chance to get it though but I hopefully will soon.
I understand. Not having a whole lot of extras is lame but I don't really buy game collections for the extras, I buy them for the games themselves. So I get why some people are upset even though the problems don't affect me in any way.
@Da Bean It would have definitely been cool if that version was there but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy my first playthrough of the original despite that. Still don't regret spending that $60.
I still don't get why Galaxy 2 wasn't included. Just like I don't understand why the collection is a limited time offer and I honestly don't know if I want it. Personally, Sunshine is the only 3D Mario game (as of making this comment) that I haven't played yet and I currently own Mario 64 on my Wii U and own both Galaxy 1 and 2 on my original Wii physically. $60 really just for one game that I don't know I will actually like or not seems weird for me.
I honestly forgot that Ultimate having a music player was even a thing. Too bad they never added anything that I can't just listen or download from RU-vid and some of it are bad remixes. As far as this collection goes, a good collection of games, but a pretty bad game collection. I personally liked the collection for the games.
But there's a difference between using switch as a music player in your home, and using it as a music player on the streets and in public. It's quite an embarrassment.
It’s scary how 3 years ago we conplimented Nintendo for how hard they were working and how great of a company they were and now only 3 years later, they are so lazy and scummy it’s scary. Remember this was sold for 60 bucks and the N sane trilogy which is 3 remakes is 40 bucks. Also remember for Mario’s 30th anniversary we got mario maker as our big title which had far more effort than this
1. Crash and Spyro we’re Remasters, these are ports 2. Nintendo as a whole, isn’t lazy because of 1 game. 3. I will agree that this collection was rushed and lazy
When I think of presentation. I think of the Sonic Mega Collection, Sonic Gems Collection and the Zelda Collection. Both Sonic Collections had unlockable artwork and stuff and even music remixes. Even nintendo's Zelda collection had a retrospective and a Wind Waker Demo which wasn't released at the time. They put a lot of effort into making those collections feel like a celebration. Unlike All-Stars Wii, there's no artbook. And maybe Covid affected this but then I think of Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Works Set which came out in May which has an artbook. Europeans also got an Artbook and CD with their release. And at least in America you can still get an Artbook Definitive Works Set from Walmart, Amazon, or even Gamestop. I bought 3D All-Stars (When else am I going to play (Sunshine and Galaxy portably? Legally at that?) But I do admit, it leaves a lot to be desired.
The problem for me is that if you want to play Super Mario Sunshine these days, this is still the most value for your money. The GameCube disc alone goes for $45 plus on a good day, so even though Nintendo charges $60 for this collection, that’s just the market value of Sunshine + portability, a resolution bump, and Mario 64 and Galaxy for $15.
If it was a VC release it would probably be $10. Nintendo should not be basing their prices off of 20+ year old second-hand market sales. If you really want it, buy a Wii for $50, a Gamecube controller for $10, and mod it to play the 3 games. It takes like 10 minutes, you can play every NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, and Gameboy Advance game ever made (Galaxy 2 is available to you) and you can play Sunshine with the original control scheme.
@@ElNegus9985 but then its not portable and there are way more great games on pc + most likely u have an internet connection So playing the collection makes sense outside, where u dont have an internet COnnection.
@@laszlob3683 i mean im sort of talking about what i think here i respect their decision ( they made hella lot lf money so its like not it was a dumb thing to do) im just saying i find some things redundant but eh i dont have that of a problem with 3d all stars just not gonna buy it
What I don’t get is why people are saying that just because you can emulate it, that makes it a rip off. You could say that about any game port that exists then!
Well Nintendo starved everyone of these games especially sunshine, refused to port them to wii u or anything and slapped a :Only available until March: so its guaranteed to sell
Stuff that would’ve made it better: -Adding Galaxy 2 -Content that was never seen by the public before -Better menu (i’m fine with the menu, but it’s just bland so making a better menu would be appreciated) -Extras (Like adding that Super Mario Galaxy 2 instruction video, remember that?) -40$ not 60$ - Mario 64 WideScreen -Not making it limited -Digital Manuals -3D Model Viewer -Animations test (Kinda like the one from The Walking Dead Collection) -Back stories about the game’s development -Fix most of the bugs that the games had. And in case they do add Galaxy 2 in the future, at least make it like 20$.
@@SmellinDSyrup that’s not my point, If Nintendo actually put forth the effort to remake the game then I would actually pay for it. It’s insulting that they’re official product is lazier than what the fans can do.
Dude, the dolphin emulator can literally move around the camera and choose Gamecube controller settings and the 3D All-Stars, Nintendo went a bit down ever since Doug Bowser became the co-owner of Nintendo, the dude literally used to work at EA
Cant imagine this being worth it if you played em before, personally im lucky i only played the DS remake of 64 as a kid. So these were 3 new experiences for me so i Don't regret the purchase. That being said, i still would have liked the missing games/extras
The problem with Nintendo is that you have better fan-made options but Nintendo, as the triple AAA company that they are, they take down EACH ONE OF THEM. Glad i got the M64 Pc Port before It was taken down again.
Also, a bunch of people bought copies of this game, hoping to sell them later on eBay for huge prices. This is probably going to end just like those comics in the 1990s that people bought thinking they were going to be rich in the future by selling them later, but are still worth nothing to this day.
With myself owning Super Mario 3D All-Stars, I think it's neat to have the 3 main 3D Mario games on the Switch and in HD with Sunshine and Galaxy in widescreen and Galaxy running at 60 fps officially but I do think there could of been other options on there like having button mapping and supporting the GameCube controller than just having it recognised as a pro controller. I do think the menu was quickly slapped together without giving it much thought to make it feel like an anniversary game like with Sonic Generation on the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3 as well as slapping music together in the laziest way than remastering it and missing out on artwork for those games. It could of been a better collection like with Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Gem Collection. I do think the pricing should of been £30. Would understand if it was at £50 if there where other games part of the collection like Galaxy 2, 64 DS and 3D Land. The updated version of Halo Collection and Uncharted Collection seems to do a better job with the extra features as well with the menus as modern collection of games. Definitely would say that Sonic Mega and Gem Collection are the best examples for having a unique menu and soundtracks and remixes as well as the extras like the artwork, the manuals, the comics and the teasers, cutscenes and trailers as well a short description about the characters and being able to listen to the soundtrack on the games in the collection itself. A part from the collection not being the best, I'm enjoying playing Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine in different ways like skipping on doing Bianco Hills, Ricco Harbor and Pinna Park.
Im so done with Nintendo if I want a game from the I will buy used so they make nothing from it.After the Mario 35th pin set mess I cant stad the way they never have enough stock due to artificial shortage. This Mario 3d collection is just another example of that artificial shortage tactic and its getting old real quick
Personally I don't think Sunshine needed gyro controls, I think it plays fine without them. Also I think that Mario 64 DS would have looked awful on a big screen. I was disappointed with the lack of extras as well, and not putting in Galaxy 2 was indeed very stupid. I honestly don't think this collection was meant to be a big release, but a 35th anniversary treat. I just think Covid and the leaks messed everything up and this collection became way overhyped. However, Nintendo still should have put the effort in, they're more than capable.
Sunshine didn't need gyro support, it needed GCN controller support, especially considering that an official adapter was made for smash just a few years back and this was a gamecube game.
Crash Bandicoot trilogy: 3 classic ps1 games completely remade and look like it came out on this gen (also on switch) Spyro Remake trilogy: 3 classic ps1 games completely remade and look like it came out on this gen (also on switch) Tony Hawk 1+2 Remake: 2 classic games completely remade and looks incredible Note that these games will be a lot cheaper and actually accessible after April 1st. Fuck you Nintendo, you think that 3 emulated ports counts as a good anniversary gift?
The Master Chief Collection is now cross platform and its release on PC is $40. 6 main Halo games all reworked to play on PC. And they even bring brand new content not in the originals. Fuckin' Hell Nintendo
*sonic mega collection plus on xbox and sonics ultimate genesis collecrion on xbox 360 crying in a corner because a lazy cash grab is getting more attention*
"This is Mario guys" is the only quote you need to look at this , compare it to other anniversary collection, and realize something is obviously off. I blindly bought this because I never played these games before , but seeing all this content that was missed in this and realizing Nintendo wants to cheat me another 60 bones for 3d World . Yeah what the hell is this
I wouldn't compare this to 3D World. The 3D World port so far looks like it actually has some effort put into it. It seems to run a lot faster, the character movement was altered from the original, they added online Co-op to it and there seems to be a whole new campaign with Bowser's Fury (we still need more info on it to be sure, but that's what its looking like). It definitely looks like one of the better Wii U ports by far.
I agree more should have been done...but if you haven't played 1 or more of these games its a must buy for sure. The value will definitely be in the eye of the beholder. Personally if I had played all 3 multiple times before I might not have felt compelled to buy it...but I probably would have any way. Great collection of vids chiguy!!!!
I actually use the Switch when docked to play the soundtracks in Smash and Mario 3D All-Stars kinda like Spotify on my TV for when I'm working in my living room.
Yes yes I agree but since the Switch is my first (most of my friends and family too) console since the Wii and 3DS (we are all fairly casual) this collection is fantastic for us. I have 2 brothers, none of us have played these 3 games before and we were super excited to try them and like them a lot. Yeah the collection is lazy but I think it did it's job tbh. The only people who missed out are those hardcore Nintendo fans who want more out an anniversary collection, but imo the 3 games are fine for a casual like myself
No one is at fault for wanting to buy these games, if you’ve never got the chance then of course you should be able to enjoy them. The problem is how few of Nintendo’s old games you can play if you have nothing but a switch. They’ve done such a poor job with the nes and snes online games that we all go nuts for whatever games that’ll give, and may not even complain because our standards are so low. Not to mention, if we take nintendo st their word, you won’t even be able to buy these games in 6 months. So it forces people to buy right away, and anyone who gets a switch even next December, supposedly won’t be able to play these 3 games. That’s my other problem, that nintendo doesn’t care about the long term value, they just want to sell them as quickly as possible
As someone who owns a copy of the game and got it day one, I really wish Nintendo would step up their game (no pun intended). It's awesome that Nintendo packaged 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy into one cartridge, but they had very little if not no confidence in 3D All-Stars, and I can tell, because if they had the confidence, they would would've done so much more with this collection of games than just their soundtracks as extras and they wouldn't have made it a limited time release. To be honest, I really don't care that Galaxy 2 and 64 DS were excluded from the collection, although it still would've been cool if they WERE part of the collection, if they had at least fixed the issues with 64 and Sunshine, added more, better extras, and not made the game a limited time release, the game would be perfect in my opinion. I still love Nintendo, I just think it's for them to be more pro-consumer and actually listen to what their fans are saying. Overall, Super Mario 3D All-Stars is pretty decent collection of games, it's that two of the games in said collection need some work (64 and Sunshine), and I also think it should've been more than just a collection of games plus the soundtracks to said games. I do apologise if this isn't the best take on Super Mario 3D All-Stars, I'm not a professional when it comes to critiquing things, I really did try to form my own opinion on this game.
I'd say it's worth it only to play Sunshine and Galaxy on-the-go. Yeah you can emulate them easily on a laptop, but a laptop is not a handheld. They're big and you have to sit down to play them on your lap. The only alternative to this is playing Dolphin on a smartphone, but the good ones that can actually run Dolphin smoothly are much more expensive than the Switch. The cheaper smartphones run Dolphin terribly. I have a Motorola Moto e6. Dolphin barely works on it. This collection is great for that reason. Mario 64 can be emulated easily on a really cheap portable emulator for under $100, but that's it. Those kind of portable emulators only go up to PS1 and N64 (and maybe Dreamcast).
I sort of wonder if Nintendo wasn’t planning anything, then the rumours started in March and they were like ‘we’ve got six months to throw something together, let’s capitalise on this’
I commented on another video. Amazing games, but garbage collection because they did the bare minimum. When mega man has better collections than you, when castlevania has a better collection than you. There’s something going on. Then mr fan boy was like “what do you mean, they have a music player, they added a lot” then I said, okay but mega man has art, old commercials, etc. it feels like a celebration. Then the other guy was like “that might be cool for you, but for me, they added so much I can’t say no” like damn, people are really fan boying
Just compare this to Kirby 6 pack that was fire as hell you even got to watch the anime (limited amount of episodes) but still it in my opinion is the bare minimum for it to be a good anniversary collection
Anyone think they put the soundtracks on here just so they wouldn't have to release it separately and risk it getting distributed? Pessimistic, I know, but I don't see soundtracks being touted as a big feature unless it's a rhythm game or something. Most of the time that sort of thing is tucked away in the options or as a collectable or unlockable.
This collection is definitely not worth $60, but at least I have a way to play these games, cause I didn't get the chance to play these games back in the day!!😎👍💎
@@raidoukuzonoha883 I expected them to actually give something new to these games instead of just upscaling the resolution. These are just literal ports of games that are decades old with little difference.
Zumo-Jo that’s what the fans wanted and what’s this something what remaking the games I’m sorry these aren’t small ass games like crash where you can beat em in a hour or two these are three 20 hour games... so basically your expecting too much
@@raidoukuzonoha883 SM64 was $10 and galaxy was $20 on the VC. Are you really trying to say the port isn't lazy? Nintendo has already ported these games on weaker consoles for a lower price!
Cookie yea most people aren’t gonna own those consoles and I love how you ignore sunshine cuz you know I’m right.... anyways stop looking at it from your perspective and what the games are meant for... kids. kids would’ve never played 64, sunshine and galaxy so them experiencing them for the first time it’s worth it for them so basically it’s not for you
@@supercyclone8342 Emulators can be a pain to setup though, especially if you don't wanna play on keyboard and you don't have a compatible controller. I know I once spent like three hours looking online because my PS1 emulator just didn't detect my controller. Plus there's the matter of emulating games you don't own being just a teeeeeny tiny bit illegal, but no one cares about that anyway.
@@daveash9146 I was just implying that it's the cheapest way, not that it was simple lol. I haven't had too many problems so I can't really say much about that. Also, I'm pretty sure Nintendo is no longer making a profit off the sales of older games so that's my justification (I've emulated mostly GBA games)
@@supercyclone8342 Yeah I wasn't dissagreeing with you, just wanted to specify. Also the whole legal part is completely bogus if you ask me. most games over 10 years old aren't even sold by the company anymore so why should I need a physical copy for my emulation to be legal? I mean, even if I did get one off of ebay or something, the profit wouldn't go to the company, why should they care? (Btw I'm also mainly emulating GBA, got any favorites to recommend?)
Are we just going to ignore the fact you can play all 3 of these games on a wii, plus galaxy 2. Galaxy and galaxy 2 are wii games. Sunshine is a GameCube game and Wii’s are backwards compatible. 64 is on the virtual console.
$60 for 3 games is a good deal. But the quality isn't that great. Yeah they are good games but this is literally just putting a ROM on a card, they didn't even bother optimizing 64 or sunshine to fit the more modern landscape.
Here's the thing. SM64 was $10 on the VC and Galaxy was $20. Unless you think Sunshine is worth $30, I mean, yes, a physical copy is worth more, but objectively. If galaxy 2 was included, I think the price would have been a good deal.
I agree, not worth the money. Either the games should've all ran at 1080p 60fps with the minor improvements they need or Galaxy 2 should've been inckuded
And yea I agree with the collection saying it’s not worth it. The games are fine but not a lot of effort came into this, no real optimization, no ironing out glitches from all games, no face lifts in terms of graphics or music, all of them are kinda ehhh minus galaxy to some degree. I hate when people defend Nintendo being lazy instead of adding effort to their titles. It’s how we got sword and shield.
