The final level in Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS. if you notice a bit of a jump during the animation after hitting the flagpole, that's because my capture card decided to malfunction during the animation.
I remember the first time I completed this level, and when the green platforms were spelling out "THANK YOU", I thought I had to run on them, not seeing the yellow moving platform. Needless to say, I died and had to restart the level from the beginning.
everyone is comparing this to super mario world but people seem to forget thats console and this is handheld. Mario world might be the better game, but this still gives an awesome sense of accomplishment and beautiful level design all the way through AND we can play it anywhere!
Both games were extremely easy save for a few levels in world like world 6-7, Champions road and that bonus black and white ghost house level. Both are fun to play but I do believe world is better as it somewhat presents a challenge. But nowhere near stages like: Luigi's Purple Coins, Purple Coins in the boneyard and those mario galaxy stages where you have to blow up trash and incinerate boxes. Also, excluding the lost levels, I believe that the hardest challenge in Mario was Grandmaster Galaxy - The perfect Run.
Things I learned when trying to beat this level: 1: Mario jumps farther than Luigi 2: I am a mediocre player 3: the feeling of accomplishment only lasts up to a minute after finishing a game 100%
The difference between Mario and Luigi is that Luigi jumps higher (therefore farther) and Mario has more traction. Therefore, here Mario > Luigi. Ik this is two months old but just saying
Euroliis no. What he’s saying is that mario’s jump gives greater horizontal distance than Luigi’s, hence ‘farther.’ Luigi’s jump gives greater vertical distance, hence it is ‘higher.’
Highly disagree with the third one. I still remember every game I've ever 100% beaten and I still feel satisfied that I put in that effort and saw everything some of my favorite games of all time had to offer.
i dont know, this was really easy imo, it took me less than 20 tries to beat it with mario and with luigi i was gonna beat it damageless but those flying bob ombs scammed me of my win, still beat it first try though
Just getting to This Level alone Is a Challenge , Top of the flagpole on every level , All star coins MUST be collected. And every level Must be played with mario And Luigi!
LukerPuker no, you didn’t. You didn’t do every level with Mario AND Luigi, every Golden goal pole and every star coin for both the Normal AND Special worlds, in ONE DAY. There is no way possible to do that.
Ah... the memories and the satisfying reward the game gave you for collecting all the star coins and getting all the golden flagpoles will forever stick with me in my heart
Special 8-Crown is probably the most fun level in the game, a bit of a challenge at times but not that hard overall. It was definitely a great prize for beating the game. One thing I never got though was why the pipe to world 8 was replaced by the level instead of opening up the final pipe in the second half of world 8 (from where 8-6 and the final Bowser level are) and S8-Crown would be the only level in that section, really emphasizing its specialness.
This was one of the first games I got for the 3DS back in 2012. Played the hell out of it, but never actually unlocked this secret level, much less knew about it. It's now 2022, I've been feeling a bit nostalgic since I basically grew up on mario games from multiple systems. That's when I heard about this secret level from watching a video. I was intrigued. So I dusted the now 11 year old game off, and as tedious as it was, I completed the requirements on my old save file (really all that was left was getting a few star coins I missed and playing about half the total levels through with Luigi). And damn, this level kicked my butt the first few times. But once I finally beat it, I felt accomplished. A game I've had for over 10 years, made up a decent part of my childhood, and I've just now at 18 years old completed it 100% at long last. I felt like that one meme: "You can rest now".
Me completed final bowser again after beating S8 in 2012: phew I’m done with this game no more 3D land. *7 years later* RU-vid recommendations: I’m bout to end this mans whole career. Me: WHAT NOW I HAVE TO TAKE 5 MORE DAYS TO UNLOCK AND 5 EVEN MORE DAYS TO COMPLETE IT
renedelgado1979 You need to beat every level with Mario and Luigi, and I'm not sure, but I think you must get all gold flags from the goal poles as well
You have to 100% the game for this level, which is harder than this level. dude 3 years later i fucking beat the entire game 100% and my point still stands because the statue leaf can cheese so many sections of the level
I've 100% completed all the worlds, all star coins, all levels done with Mario and Luigi, and all Golden Flagpoles. I just finished this level today. I'm VERY happy!!
I did it! With Luigi and Mario and Made both of the runs with the golden flag! Also I find using the scarfed Tanooki suit (I have no idea how to pronounce it) at this point 2:20 is much easier as you can just turn into stone and they will do no damage!
I just beat this today, Mario AND Luigi, NO POWER UPS and no damage taken. I have to say, it was the hardest level I have ever completed in a game apart from The Dreadnaught's Purple Coins And The Golden Temple, from Super Mario Galaxy And Donkey Kong Country Returns...
Wow. That is it? One level in the void with the 1-1 music? Glad I checked to see if it was worth playing before doing the tedious task of unlocking it.
Phew, finally took care of that. With two tanuki leaves, it only took 6 tries I believe for Luigi, and 1 for Mario. Nowhere near as bad as Champion's Road, to be sure.
Who didn't know they needed to beat every level again as Luigi to unlock this level? I remember thinking for a few years i had completed this game only to realize the stars on my file were supposed to go up to 5. That's when I found out I needed to do all the levels again as Luigi and only then did I unlock this level.
I have completed this level 10 times seperately. (Good Way to stay up at night) I know the pain. Just watching this alone gives me anxiety. The First time I tried S8-Crown took more than 100 lives from me. It took me 2 months to build my confidence back up to try this level again. But because of my insane amount of OCD, I was determined to finish the level this time. It took about 60 lives from me, but eventually after nearly an hour, I reached the flagpole with small Luigi. I was dreading to complete it with Mario, as Luigi jumps a lot higher. But amazingly, I managed to finish it with Mario in 10 lives. But last time I completed this level (yesterday) first try on both with Mario and Luigi without a scratch w/ gold flagpole. I'd recommend triple crown lives for this level if a mediocre/bad player at 3d land. But that was shocking to see how much that level experienced and how much it scarred me.
I never realized this level existed until now. I completed every level with the 3 star coins, but still... Now I wacth this and realized that I also have to top every flag pole + completing every level with Mario and Luigi. Kinda similar to mario 3d world but easier.
this was the only mario game i have ever 100% completed. due to the difficulty that secret final levels hold in mario games, it will probably stay that way.
Seems hard to unlock, but I thought champions road was so much harder without a tanooki. The last segment of champions road is boost panels with shockwaves. This definitely looks easier
-I play with both Mario & Luigi -Got all flagpoles -Got all star coins Finished that 2 days Beat the secret level, it's hard but I keep practicing for 2 weeks andddd I beat the secret level with both Mario & Luigi
This level doesn't seem so hard... And yet, I don't remember seeing this level in my copy of the game for some strange reason, even after I did every level and collected every Star Coin.
This was the only level in the game I had a really tough time with (although the Special 8 Castle did give me kind of a hard time). It felt so great back in February 2012 to finally beat this (I got it for my 18th birthday in December 2011).
now wait a damn minute. you’re telling me i beat every regular and special level, played through as mario and luigi, and even collected 363 star coins... _and i somehow missed a level???_ well time to dig out my old 3DS and 100% this game i thought i already did when i was like 12
… I managed to beat champion road on super Mario 3D world with everyone today… but this one still haunts me to the bitter end. I want to try again somehow…
@@bluezhy5655 I don't get what you're implying. Handheld games aren't hard? Cave Story and Shovel Knight are on 3DS. And SMG2's Perfect Run is peanuts compared to N+ for DS. Then there's Super Meat Boy available on Vita and Switch.
tbh if u ground pound in the moving green platform as tanooky statue mario its really easy just keep ground pounding or the statue will disappear and u will revert to normal mario
