This brings back so many memories. That one summer vacation where I played this almost everyday. Sitting in the floor of my room, looking up at that old tv hooked to my original NES. If I had a time machine I would go back there for one day.
I feel like 8-1 was designed to reward you for playing the game all the way through. If you did, you should have enough p-wings to bypass 8-1 and the airship
8-1 is pretty hard but i beat this game today so i was lucky enough but i skip 8-2 and castle just using my tooth then i used my remaining p-wing to final tank before bowser castle 😊
So the only way to get past level 1 is a P cloud?? Well I will never do it. I lost mine in the first tank level LOL I beat that fast ship without a a P cloud though :P
What I noticed about this is that only the underground music, the ship music, and the castle music are played. The underground music replaces both of the on-ground music that is played in the other levels -- starting with games 1 and 2 from level 1 (in case you are wondering what I am talking about). I find it rather fitting that these three music scores are all that play during world 8.
On the first ship in the water, my cousins and i swam underneath them all till we got to the end. It does make your thumb ache as you can drown & die if you let up. Beats goin thru all the cannon fire.
I loved it when you tried cheating through levels and you still died. RofLmao! I'm currently trying to beat this game without suits and million life cheats and im getting my ass kicked. It was some needed relief seeing someone else die over and over. Thumbs up!
How did you get a hammer suit and that many lives and power ups? I'm playing on a regular classic NES. Am I just missing those things when I play or are you using a game genie or something other than an NES?
You can get the hammer suit in the mushroom houses Lvl 6 and the 99 lives on level 7 fortress 1 You’ll see a room full of yellow bricks and there is a hidden pow button that turns the bricks into coins, you can keep doing it over and over again by repeatedly going in and out the red door. It’s known as the 99 lives “cheat” you can look it up on YT if you type in Super Mario 99 lives. And then finally you can get a bunch of flying feathers by getting to those 3 lvls that the hand comes out and drags you in. They are easy to beat and each one rewards you with a flight feather just stay small. Use a flight feather on lvl 1 at the beginning til it lets you fly up to reach the pipe. Hope this helps👋
Say hello to the worst world in the game. Yeah it's the final world but man a lot of these levels suck. Smart move cheesing a few with P-Wings. A real shame you couldn't take out Bowser with the hammers. Overall a good playthrough of this timeless game.
I usually don't cheese 8-1 but I was fed up with loosing life. I was aso almost to the point of restarting world 8 when I lost the hammer suit but I was too lazy I guess. Also for some reason it's way harder to jump crouch with an NES mini d pad than a regular NES d pad, that's why it took me a lot of time to do it in Bowser Castle.
They don’t suck (in fact, they’re the best levels of the game), they’re just difficult. This was back when Mario games weren’t easy and holding your hand all the time.
Just beat the game with my brother in law on snes version I know your stuggle. I use to have skills back when I was small I'm not good like i use to be. It was a pain going through all these levels
I remade this World in Smm2 and even put in with Coins many Swear Worlds directed at Mario from Bowser. I Fucked The Princess can be seen in Bowsers Castle in Coins in the start of the level. Welcome To Hell is the start of World 8 in between the first tanks😊. We all know Bowser would....and likely Peach too as that is her boyfriend after all and not Mario.
I like world 8 for what it is but am sad that there’re no hammer brothers on the map screen,no toad houses,no roulette or memory games,let alone coinships (imagine a coinship with negative coins alone with the airship tune and dark background) and bowsers in not inside a airship wich i always trought to be the case🙁🙁
Came here expecting by the title of the video that unlike me you'd find a way to enter those 2 levels remaining in the part a hand grabs you into the level. Well. Still nice to see the nes version, like this world better here, it actually honors the world's name "Dark world". The snes version is too bright. Also, I disagree with some other comment. These levels ain't bad. They are fun... and wtf now while commenting I see you know a tricky shortcut around 9:32 :O
I guess I'm one of the very few people who never had a real problem with the airship level. I always used the P-Wing for level 2, though. I didn't know there was a shortcut under the sand. And I never finished the fortress. Always save the cloud from level 3 for that one.
If you go in as raccoon in 8-1, you can fly to the 3up pipe. If you charge the P meter and jump before you exit the 3up secret, you can just about fly to the end
