Luigi wasn't in green because at that point his official design wasn't completely figured out yet, and the reason there are multiple Bowsers that turn into different monsters when killed with with fireballs is because they are Bowser's minions in disguise, though it was originally just a glitch.

I honestly thought that bowser turning into random enemies was intended, since in each world he’s always a different enemy (though I think I do remember slaying him with fireballs on world 2 or 3 once and he just died normally instead of shape shifting into anothed enemy upon death. Could be wrong though....)

Ben Dittrich In-between this, and the live action garbage, you get the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show". I never saw this one, but I remember the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" and it was kinda decent than this one, because the series was by DIC. The storyline was not as faithful to the original game, so does the live action film and the show.

The technical senselessness is actually pretty faithful to the Mario series when it first came out, when you think about it. An Italian plumber running through a barren wasteland that somehow has floating bricks and boxes that drop either mushrooms that glide across the ground or flowers that make you shoot fire from your hands, all while fighting evil turtles and a giant turtle to save a princess. At the time, nothing could’ve gotten more ridiculous than that.

Those are mostly just things from Japanese culture in general, which both Mario and Touhou (and a *lot* of Japanese media besides just those two) like to reference a lot. They might draw inspirations from similar places but that doesn't necessarily connect them in my eyes.

Literally look at the full manual, not just the single part about them being blocks. The power up section literally states that they aren't killed

@@samueld8413 There is this channel that made a high quality rare 4K scan of the film which is near perfection. He mainly color corrects scenes to make them appear less washed out. Be he is well capable of doing the task of fixing continuity errors, changing specific colored areas and some other visuals. With the sound stuff like music and voice acting is not ready.

the old lady's reaction is most likely just an old vaudville thing japanese people used to do. Usually at the punchline of a stupid joke someone will react by striking an odd pose. I actually found that fan dub a few years back. I thought it was decent. While my friends were over one day, I put it on and we watched it. I had to keep the TV remote in my hand to adjust the volume at a moment's notice because Peach's screaming is rather painful to listen to.

Then again... Luigi x Daisy isn't confirmed canon(headcanon doesn't count), he got the C-tier mansion (implied that he spent all the money from the first game on it in New Moon.), *Mario's Missing, like The Last Airbender movie, doesn't exist* , and he usually goes along with Mario on most adventures... It's likely that neither of the bros care about being paid since they both likely get rich on their adventures... I mean, Mario owns a castle in canon(Mario Land 2). Both bros have it very good.

There wasn't a permanent color palette for him at the time, and the reason his character is, in a way, somewhat like Wario, is because Luigi didn't have much of a character at that point in time, he was just "Mario's Brother".

I find that an error considering this came out a year after the NES came out. What happened during the game's development didn't affect the anime. This was Luigi's second appearance and this came out a year after the NES game. In Mario Bros, he had green overalls with a brown shirt, in SMB, he wears a green shirt with white overalls and hat, and some of this movie's posters made him wear a red shirt instead of yellow. They were clearly experimenting with Luigi's design until the late 80s where he had a blue shirt and green overalls and hat.
