I can't believe it's taken this long to get a romhack where you can finally play as Bros. He's been in the title all this time.

Somebody at Nintendo should get fired for losing all these levels all the time.

Maybe they added toads to the world cuz after super Mario bros 1 they should have been restored from their block form to toad form

Thanks for playing with my hack! :) I made it in 2017, when I was very newbie at Super Mario Bros. hacking and there were not any too modern(er) editing tools at that time. But 1 or 2 years ago approximately I also released this hack as a Famicom Disk hack as well with completely new conception. Don't forget to stay tuned for Super Mario Bros. II (nothing to do with SMB2J and SMB2 USA!!!) either.

This is the only thing that lets me know what day of the week it is

This is an obvious concept, but an interesting one, and I think it was well carried out! I only find it hard to imagine why the new developers would've done the Bros thing, and why Nintendo would've been okay with releasing a four-world sequel to an eight-world game that already had a thirteen-world sequel.

If you haven't played it already, there's a ROM hack of (I think) SMB3 where the hacker turned it into an NES port of Super Mario All Stars (with saves and keeping the graphics for each game the game was made with).

That shell trick at the end you can do in NSMB2 with the gold power-up and get a ton of coins in a few minutes and the shell doesn't break unlike the staircase trick. NSMB1 resets your stomp combo for some reason when you grab a vine or wall kick so you can't do 1up tricks the same way you could in other games even though you could combo with vines in SMB3 and SMW (though you couldn't jump off vines in SMB3 unless you're playing the GBA version and have a cape feather). It was bad design and it's a good thing they fixed that in every NSMB game after the first one.

At 3:18 he said yeah Luigi is having a real good time here proceeds to shoot him with fireballs

So if Capcom had made Mario then this is what we would have gotten.

This seems like a REALLY high quality hack! The level designs are actually very professional. Quite the rarity these days!

Miyamoto really slashed the budget for Super Mario Bros 3. It only has half the amount of levels that the first one has

I always thought that Super Mario Bros 2 was actually the _real_ Mario 3 since there's: Super Mario Bros. (1) Super Mario Bros. Special (2) - especially if you count the recently released NES hack that basically perfectly ports it Super Mario Bros. 2 (3)

I can't believe if SMB3 had been like SMB2 they would have changed the fire flower into Luigi. Imagine how different the series would be today if everyone was saving and transforming into Luigi. LOL

Also try Super Mario Bros. 4, 5, and this Super Mario Bros. 3 but the FDS version. Super Mario Bros. 3 FDS has 8 worlds, a world 9, worlds A-C, and you need 12 stars to access worlds A-C.

I have mixed feelings about the naming. 2J still had mechanical changes and additions, so marketing this as a spiritual successor to 2J would have been better if it were an ASM hack. Include all the features of 2J while adding a couple new minor mechanics and I'd totally buy that as a lost 3J.
