I actually tried Star Road a few weeks ago. Although the production values are through the roof and I acknowledge that the creator put tons of work into it, I unfortunately felt that it got worse as it went on; the physics got weirder (Mario can't go up the smallest ramp without sliding off at 500 miles per hour into the abyss), enemy placement kept being worse, (Like, a Chuckya on Mad Musical Mess? Why?!) and the camera kept screwing me over more and more. In all fairness, I get that it's a fan-made game, and again, I gotta commend the creator for making the closest thing we'll get to a direct Super Mario 64 sequel, but course 5 to course 10 is absolutely terrible IMO. The game does start to pick up after that and courses 14 and 15 are absolutely brilliant, but the halfway point in the game nearly lead me to quit. In fact, during the level for the second key (In the Super Mario World-style Bowser's Castle) I encountered a gamebreaking glitch where the boss would die immediately but wouldn't give the key, preventing me from progressing. I had to reset at least 8 times before it would finally work. So yeah. While I still had a decent amount of fun, there's definitely room for improvement... but hey, it's a fan-game. Nice video, by the way.
Honestly, I thought it was bad at first, but as it went on for me it got better. The levels felt more Mario like, and I can't really blame them for physics since it's using Mario 64 as a base. (I can blame them for invisible walls though.) All and all, this feels like a 3D Mario game for the GameCube, if Nintendo never thought of the Fludd mechanic for Mario sunshine. It feels like Mario 64 2.
Nathaniel! I love what you've done with your channel! It used to be a crappy, dime-a-dozen top ten channel with a tryhard motto. Now it's something worth subscribing to! It's amazing how good you are at reviewing and commentating. You have a hilarious sense of humor, and you've become self-aware to the things you've been doing that people didn't like, as shown in the 'How RU-vid Triggers You' video. Your comedic sarcasm and attention to detail really put you up there with PBG, SpaceHamster, and the rest of the greats. Keep up the good work, and Merry Christmas! . . . . . -Your fan, Nick.
Y4123 In 0.25 A Presses, you need to update your home to the SCATMAN, the twitch user who was very high for seemingly no reason, so thanks for watching... Except you, TJ "Henry" Yoshi.
I remember finding this Before I knew emulators I forgot about it Then saw the collab I can finally complete my childhood dream Thank you Nate, for brightening my day
Nathaniel, when Super mario 64 Last impact by Kaze emanular comes out, plzz make a video on it as well as Super Mario Land 64 by CyberTanuki. You need to check the previews to. SM64 last impact has so much to offer like mini games, custom moves and more. Super Mario Land 64 is going to have Luigi as a playable character. And I like the dessert music it's a remix of Kalimari dessert. Also Mario says yeehaw just like a cow boy in the level.
It can't get better than Star Road in terms of SM64-hacks. Hope you will check out SM74 (and SM74 Extreme Edition) next. It's not nearly as polished as this one but I still like the overall level-design and concepts more in that game.
i never played this game before, but i do have fond memories watching playthroughs of it on youtube. I was only a sophmore student in high school at the time, and i didnt learn how to download emulators, and other than that i didnt know to to get rom hacks working because i didnt know how to get a better project 64 emulator that works for this game
"How are you supposed to find that ? Jumping in the dark even if it looks like you could die ?" Oh, I don't know... maybe by TALKING TO THE BOO RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU
This is a pretty old hack by today's standards. We may have surpassed it quite a bit technologically, but I stand by that this feels the closest to an ACTUAL sequel to Mario 64.
you want your poster of space waifu? i like your taste bowser though didn't you steal my stars back in the day? yea screw you for that! (we go kart together so we're cool)
@@comedyskitrehman6001 That honestly sounds like a good idea for a name. Since we're likely not going to get a Power Rangers adaptation (If only Hasbro wasn't selfish or didn't purchase PR), I'll be adapting it into my own fanfiction series, Super Animal Squadron. It'll be called Galactic Squadron: Novaranger.
There is a remake-rom to Star Road on the DS, but I don't know if there's a giant house level in the remake-rom, so maybe #GIANTHOUSELEVEL, I don't know.
Nathaniel: "No, I'm not going to bring up Shrek!" Me: "But by saying that you acknowledged his existence meaning that you brought him up. So, you're statement was false. Huh." Edit: 3:30 Me: "HA! YOU LIED!"
Nathaniel Bandy I really enjoyed this video. I thought it was really funny. And I love how you have a different controller everytime it u change scene XD.
