Fuckin coins, clock whatevs. -That cape is fuckin' OP -Wait, what jus- I have GOT to stop looking away. -But what about THAAAT leve- ok I know he's gonna come back. Chill, bitch. -THERES A KEY THERE???! -THERES A BOWSER SHORTCUT?! 9 year old me is losing her fuckin mind. -So Bowser's castle itself doesn't count? Alright. -Time to look up a no cape speed run.
Way back in the late 90s my friend Ben, and I must have put over a year of game time into Super Mario brothers. Thing is it only goes to 99%, and when you kill Bowser, you don't get to save. My guess is that beating the game gives you 100%, but sense you don't get to save after the last castle, you never get 100%. Funnest, and hardest part for me was getting the secret in Soda bridge without killing Yoshi. I'm not a bleeding heart, it just seemed that if you used the cape, that's how you where supposed to pull it off. 15 years later, and I found out just how wrong I was...
For some weird reason my VC Super Mario World the ending credits when it shows the "The end" picture the game freezes and if I reset it it just doesn't save but when I beat Bowser to the "The End" picture the game freezes and can't do any!!!
There are actually 101 exits in this game. The ones that aren't usually counted are the longer regular exit in "Donut Plains 2", Yoshi Wing Exit in "Cheese Bridge Area", the longer exit route in the "Forest Fortress", Yoshi Wing Exit in "Valley of Bowser 2", as well as Yoshi Wing Exit in "Way Cool".
I am stuck at 95 exits what should I do? I have unlocked all the paths and gotten all the exits in ghost houses and star world. It may be bowser castle but I don't know. Will I have to get a glitched exit like In funky or Yoshi's house?
Super Pancake Bros. press start when at the over world, it should say a "m" next to the level if you completed it. It it's a double exit then there should be two "m"s. If there is an outline then you missed an exit in that level.
This run was done no an emulator or with a turbo controller. Proof of this is when you swim or fly, you can't press the buttons that fast without such a turbo button pressing feature.
Mario does a lot of flying in this video without first getting a running start, for example - 42:09 to 42:17 (tons of other examples too). How does that work?
That level in particular you need to learn how to jump as soon as mario gains full speed. If you do vanilla secret 1 you'll see that just past the vertical line in the background you gain pspeed everytime.
There are actually dozens of different level combinations on that stage -- it depends on your time and coin count. www.mariowiki.com/Chocolate_Island_2
I ran into this as well and couldn't figure it out for a long time. Watching this video, I noticed that he beat all the star levels the normal way as well as the secret exit. Although beating it normally won't take you anywhere new, it is necessary for 100% completion.
This is the Japanese version because all I see is a copyright date for 1990. The North American and European releases have a dual 1990/1991 copyright date.
Most SMW speedrunners use the Japanese version because various text boxes can be progressed through more quickly. In a 96 Exit run like this, it saves just shy of 21 seconds over the NA version.
+classic TV man 1981 the reason why there are two dates on smw is cause it was released in Japan in 1990 and it America in 1991 that's why there's both
+mikayla guy Yet they didn't do the same for _Super Mario Bros. 3_ when it was localized for the U.S. and Europe in 1990; it still only had a 1988 copyright date, the year of its release in Japan.
Why are the level names and scrolling text in Japanese, while the level start and end screens are in English? Is that just how Japan rolls, or is this some odd half-translated version?
No real reason, was a joke at the time. Although I found out afterwards if the life counter is too high, it begins to lag frames at the end of each level.
yeah wtf are you talking about, he doesnt edit out deaths xp. he just has a lot of practice time put into this game and knows the ins and outs of how it works very well
So how did you pull off being invincible?? Every time you got hit by an enemy nothing happened and then also while flying in the air change your directory or where you're flying like you did something really weird about this. Like I got to give it to you as far as your coordination and skill but you cheated
clock must be 249 so the correct room loads in the pipe, otherwise it is a different room that brings you to the wrong exit. www.mariowiki.com/Chocolate_Island_2#Overview
