In this episode we take a look at some facts, secrets, and history of Super Mario World. Super Mario World (also subtitled Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan) was developed and published by Nintendo as a launch title for the Super Nintendo (SNES). Super Mario World is notable for having first appearance of Yoshi in a main-series Mario game, and receiving critical and commercial success. The game sold over 20 million copies worldwide (not counting rereleases or digital downloads), and is considered by many to be the best Mario game.

Super mario world has been a subject on forums since the early 90s... then this came out in the same week as beta64's video and used all the same research even presented with the same pictures and mock up art for the birds. I like both channels but saying both just happened by coincidence feels like a stretch to me.

No. DidYouKnowGaming's video covered development and unused content. There was no trivia about anything currently in the game, like glitches and special things about used content etc. Beta64's video did the same thing, covered development and unused content. But it had much more video content. Beta64 is also *dedicated* to talking about development and unused content. DidYouKnowGaming- Same video with less content uploaded later Beta64- Same video with more content uploaded earlier

I agree that the timing is bad on this, Beta 64's video was in the process for about a month and DYKG's was roughly a week, it's just the upload timing. If DYKG uploaded first, people would call out Beta 64.

This is true. Between you and your favorite editor and stand-in, you do seem to find a lot of interesting stuff. Yeah... So what this comment section is, is appearently people freaking out over an idea. So what people are saying, is that Nintendo made a platformer. Sega then also made a platformer. Thus Sega copied Nintendo. Now replace Nintendo with Beta64, Sega with DYKG, and platformer with video. That's the comment section from the time this comment was made.

These comments are getting more and more idiotic, actually think for a second. These videos take absolutely ages to make, so there's no way anyone could have copied each other. Similar content? Well it's the same game geniuses, there's obviously bound to be similar things. Around the same time? Coincidences like this happen all the time, not just with youtube but things like Music as well. Sidenote on that Demo level on the SMW intro: If you use a game genie and give mario the "mega jump" code, when you start the game he will have Mega Jump in the demo as well. This causes him to mega jump for all his NORMAL jumping animations which makes his canned demo animation change slightly. If you wait long enough he will die by a koopa troopa. This will make the game fade out and allow you to play in the demo world. However, you cannot leave this world and need to reset the game. You can still use mega jump in the game with the game genie as long as you start the game before Mario dies in the intro. I found this out by accident as a kid and I never hear anyone talk about it oddly enough.

Beta64 recently released a video on Super Mario World--2 days before this video. The main criticism from some people is that DYKG is copying the topic and just rehashing it, which I believe isn't the case.

Also one weird trick I've found when I was little. If you lock the game with Game Genie or Pro Action Replay and turn off the cartridge during the title screen, Mario suddenly dies during the title screen and let the player play the stage. But rather simply going straight to the "Groovy" Level, it'll just end up to the cactus enemy area like in the title screen. In other words, you can't clear the stage.

The bit about Yoshi not being in the original Super Mario Bros always kinda bothered me. People forget that they were ALSO working on the brand new Famicom Disk System, and over time, much like the SNES/Super Famicom, data storage increased. It was probably too difficult AT THE TIME to implement Yoshi, but later games were able to do similar things... much like how later SNES titles could do more as well.

It threw me off when you used A Link to the Past footage while talking about the Lost Woods, since that game came out a whole year after Super Mario World. Super Mario World was released Nov. 21, 1990 while A Link to the Past was released Nov. 21, 1991.

Calling "Mayoi no Mori" the "Lost Forest" would imply that the forest is a lost or forgotten place, while mayoi no mori would actually be a place where one easily gets lost.
