I was 13 yrs. old when I saw The Death of Superman and it was my favorites episode too. Just I like you I had the Super Power Team Superman action figure. I'm a Superman fan after seeing him die in the comics, cartoons, and movies he always comes back because he's Superman and he will live on forever.
Hi Chris. Thanks so much for sharing your memories 😄 It's great to hear from another Superman fan with such reverence for the Super Powers Death of Superman episode. Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it 👍
Thanks for the bits of trivia dupersuper1938. You "don't forget" Casey Kasem also voiced Robin in the episode. I tried to feature the voice actors that were more prominently in the episode. Sorry if you felt Desaad and Superman's death in JLU absolutely needed to be mentioned. I obviously did not. Besides it gives you a reason to comment. Thanks for watching 😉
I wouldn't call it more thoughtful. More like "what if Silver Age concept except bad ending" the incurable desease is reference to Virus X, but in this story solar radiation overload the fact that he can't unshrink Kandor for some reason (this became really as some kind of fetish of Millar and Morrison as same shit was in Red Son except with Stalingrad, in normal comics not only Superman successfully unshrunk Kandor but there were myriad ways to do so really if comics weren't mostly self contained back then with same Lois Lane from 50s not even aging past 30 by the 80s end) And in general Everything where Superman actually succedes in this story is already self fullfilling prophecy, completely going against element of choice and powering your way through any kind of problem that was The core of Superman as a character since very beginning, both of character itself and philosohpically like how he eventually came out in 1938 after all rejections since 1933. Also in All-Star Kryptonians are incompatible with Humans, unlike any normal comics where Kryptonians were always just more advanced Humans not completely different kind of being only looking similar.
When I feature an episode that has one of those villains in it, then I'll talk about one of them ;) This episode featured Dark Seid, who I talked about. Thanks for the comment and for checking out the video.
