Yes Pirate Sentai Gokaiger is definitely much much better than Megaforce. They really shine as an anniversary series and the effort taken to connect the episodes to the predecessor sentai teams can be seen with how connected the episodes are with the previous sentai themes and even cameos from previous actor/tress. Just perfect. The gimmick is also much better because they really WERE 34 sentai teams before Gokaiger with their own names whereas to use the same footage Eng version just apparently introduced the older sentai as their new mode tf with that? 😂 Gokaiger uses a lot of references to the previous sentai but it can actually be watched as a standalone series because it is its own series. So it actually doesn't really matter if you've never watched the previous sentai. They are mostly fun references and doesn't mess up the storyline. I would totally recommend you watching it. Much cooler than the eng one and the pirate theme is actually a big part of the story. and not just an outfit. 😂
By the time Gokaiger came out, I had seen all of Dekaranger, Magiranger, Boukenger, Gekiranger, Go-Onger, Shinkenger and Goseiger. I had also seen quite a bit of Gaoranger, Hurricaneger, and Abaranger, it was really fun to see past rangers come back and cameo/give a lesson to the pirate team. Really fun. I do think you can enjoy the show without having watched past series though. Having watched at least some of the past stuff will add to experience, especially if there's nostalgia involved, but it's not necessary. I also recommend it heartily.
Fan called them sixth rangers because the majority of them really are the sixth member of the team. But in Japan, they refer theses guys as Additional Ranger, which are rangers who appear later in the show. So White Ranger from Dino Thunder count.
@@EpicFableBean you might wanna check again. Gokaiger episode 17, at 8:12, the Gokaiger changed into additional ranger (including Abare Killer) and Gai just called them “tsuika senshi” which mean additional or extra ranger. And in the the Gokaiger x Twokaizer special, the new item that insert into the Gokai Cellular is called “Tsuika” Unit, even the morpher (Gokai Cellular) announced “Tsuika Unit” when Gai activated it.
A cool fact about Shurikenjer is the ball he uses, IS the ranger. He's a ghost that possesses people and uses them to transform. The cool part is. Every possession is an actor from older seasons
Technically he's not a ghost and does not possess people. Like the theme, he is a ninja and ninja hides in the shadow. He was once a talented Airninja and for his talent, he used the Shuriken Ball to become Shurikenjer as the close guard of Kagura (kind of like a queen to ninja) and can never reveal his true indentity and unmorph. The reason why he transform to other faces (the old actors from older Sentai shows) is to function as a mentor to the protagnists (most of the time in his early appearance due to his unknown identity the team does not really trust him) and to sell the toy for Shuriken Ball (you need actual person to morph and show the transformation)
@@robinlin221Recently the voice actor who did the voice of Shurikenger made his in person appearance in the 20th anniversary movie and sadly it was his final role before his death.
A few neat things/details I'd like to point out: 1. I've always found KingRanger's name amusing. The series he's from (and the series Power Rangers Zeo took footage from) is Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. The translation of, "Ohranger," is, "King Ranger." So...he's KingRanger of King Ranger. (You'll also see, "Oh," as a suffix for a lot of Sentai mecha; ShinkenOh, GokaiOh, ToQ-Oh, etc.) 2. While I doubt the Power Rangers Samurai transformation was supposed to reflect this, there IS actually a reason Shinken Gold/the Gold Samurai Ranger sheathes and unsheathes his sword as often as he does in the show; he's using a different fighting style from the other Rangers (a real fighting style, mind you) called, "Iaido." Iaidoka (practitioners of the style) focus on slicing the opponents immediately upon drawing their sword, cleaning the blood off the blade, and then replacing the sword in the scabbard. 3. That call of, "Pteragordon," is...kind of amusing in of itself. The batteries the Rangers use to transform (both in the Sentai and Power Rangers version of the show) are also what power their mecha. In the Sentai, all the individual mecha have names that are portmanteaus of their effect/motif and their animal name. (Stuff like Dricera, which is triceratops + drill or Parasagun, which is parasaurolophus + gun) Pteragordon's name is pteranodon + gorogoro, which is a Japanese onomatopoeia for rumbling, often in the context of thunder, but..."gordon," also sounds like, "golden," pronounced in a Japanese accent, and I'm not sure how intentional that was.
btw, the recent episodes can be view here in RU-vid through vpn (though it will be raw unlike ultraman in which they have subs when you're watching it on their official channel)
7:30 Due to Sentai often having five Rangers, the Additional Warrior was called Sixth Ranger in Power Rangers. Since some teams would have non-sixth Additional Warriors afterwards, the term "Sixth Ranger" became nonsense as of 2003 with AbareKiller being the fifth and the additional.
Now on the idea they were the same show... they weren’t. PR didn’t even resemble the story of their Sentai counterparts until Lightspeed Rescue and even then PR would still do things like add their own heroes, villains and even weapons or even combine the roles of several characters and episodes together.
That was Power Rangers Time force or better known as Timeranger in jpn and Believer Timefire what was his og name died a horrieble death gunned down by the enemy
A shame there aren't any vids from Japanese Super Sentai fans reacting to our American PR footage or episodes. At times I would love to see Japanese viewer react to Lord Zedd’s appearance, or them watching the first Power Rangers movie and hear their opinions on some elements of Power Rangers.
Abaranger/Dino Thunder only had five Rangers, but AbareKiller still counts as a “Sixth Ranger”. Also, the Titanium Ranger is an American original. GoGo5 had LinerBoy (the sentient Max Solarzord) instead, which is why GoGo5 got skipped. Carranger and Kakuranger got skipped because their 6th Rangers are never shown unmorphed.
Fun fact about beast morpher and go buster is that in super sentai the stag beetle robot is the suit holder for the gold beetle and on beast morpher it show a mantis for gold tho it a rhino beetle and a beetle for the stag beetle
Wow nice videos similar trasformation on super sentai and originals but on 2024 bighappybirthday supersentai 50 years old and originals on 2024 is 31 years old ❤❤❤❤❤
I prefer the original Japanese versions than the American Power Rangers alot more either way and its mainly because they arent interconnected to any of the previous stories while Power Rangers just... milk the original 90s power rangers and the newest into one big convoluted story that is overdone and horrible.
Dragonranger and Kibaranger/green and white ranger from mighty morphin is from a series. Dragonranger from Zyuranger while Kibaranger from Dairanger. And If you're interested in the pirate idea then it's also fine to watch both.
7:06 Actually no, since no one knows who he is out of suit, since he is in disguise when not transformed, hence the moniker of ninja of ninja. 17:28 Yeah both characters are chivalric men out of time, though for Dino Charge they took a western approach to it. 19:45 That’s likely because it followed a more “realistic” approach and did not needed to be flashy. Well granted these were mostly all debut transformations.
Yeah, Sentai did the kid as a ranger before Turbo did it. The entire point of the white tiger's blade talking is so it pretends to the ranger to keep the kid's identity a secret from everyone. In PR, it was just kinda there. If you are at all interested, Gokaiger is very good. Its a top 5 Sentai season, as opposed to a bottom 3 Power Rangers season. there are a lot of references and guest stars, but if you've watched PR, you'll still get a lot of them. It was the first Sentai I watched and it went fine.
AbareKiller/White Dino Thunder Ranger was the sixth Ranger. Jungle Fury didn’t have a sixth Ranger. Shadow Ranger is an extra hero. For Omega Ranger they didn’t have the money for another actor so that’s why he was a ball of light for the majority of SPD.
There are so many more effects in the american morphs since they have to compensate fro the fact they're incapable of doing anything original, or at least, anything original that makes sense or isn't just unnecessary.... Still, at least up to RPM, the seasons were tolerable, but after that, it all went downhill, hitting rock bottom with Megaforce/Super Megaforce. And the whole practive with simply slapping "Super" onto the title for a second season...*shudder*
In Kyuukyuu Sentai GoGoFive there is no 6th ranger and it's us version lightspeed rescue introduced us based ranger name titanium ranger that's why you can't see him in the video
Not so fun fact... Gokai Silver is now facing trial because of a special fraud. And in the series he is a fan of super sentai and wished to be one and past extra rangers gave him power to morph
In super Sentai, Starninja changer is a freaking burger and I like it a little, but in power Rangers, the Burger thingy is just a camera or phone, but the Morpher is different
6:31 thats not being lazy. Thats literally the point of power rangers lol also Gekichopper/Rhino ranger arent the 6th ranger same thing for Black Knight/Magna Defender
The adaptaion of Gokaiger ist hated because its very bad. They took one of the bets Super sentai seasons and make a power up of it. And they use keys of teams that never exsited in Power Rangers. When asked is alway say Gokaiger ist way more better
Super Megaforce was a god damn travesty. They took a pirate themed sentai... and made it the 'upgrade' to an angel themed sentai. And never gave any explanation for the sudden shift in theme.
3:25 - 4:15 is Denji Sentai Megaranger to power rangers in space. In Japan megaranger is videogame themed, when power rangers adapted it, they changed it to space themed because they wanted to go all out since power rangers was potentially going to be cancelled due to low ratings back then.
in Beast morpher they changed the animal of the gold ranger from a Kabuto to a mantis..with makes zero sense becaus his suit and his mecha are modelt afeter a Beetle
fun fact about king ranger the lines in the visor spell king in japanese kanji another fun fact the magna defender to transform uses the changer the dairangers have (the series MMPR adapted only the white) oh and shurikenger unlike his PR counterpart is not someone in specific so anyone can be it reason why it has no picture of the actor 6:35 and also why the voice doesn't match and dekabreak is the 6th of dekaranger but i guess is not in SPD so they had to go with deka master
One of the few reasons why i stopped watching Power Rangers totally. Because of the crappy transformation scenes. What makes this worst is that... Not just the transformation scenes were mostly or partially taken from Super Sentai... Even the megazord fight scene as well. And they have been getting away with this for years,
I think that for a while that was part of the charm of Power Rangers. But i do understand that it gets old after a while. Being handcuffed to use specific fights scenes doesnt help either. So it will be interesting to see what they do with this newest series of PR.
You cant really make a fair Comparison. For Power Rangers Save so much money when they are making the show - they have enough budget to make the morphs fancier. They legit take half the show and slap a new title for the past 20 years. While Sentai does everything from scratch and makes up all the themes...
Also a better story from what i've seen. Sadly i dont think the PR writers could make something like the Sentai's since they have to make it more "Child Friendly".
@@fedugalerreacts really only recommend Space, Lost Galaxy, Time Force and RPM. Personally when i was growing up i only watched special episodes released on dvd. Power rangers was hardly aired here in Australia. The last full season was Lost Galaxy.
