"The voice acting in this game is awful, but I love it." The way I see it, the voice acting in Silent Hill 2 _enhances_ the experience. It makes it just that much clearer to the player that these characters aren't all there in the head. It's why with the HD Collection, despite being done by professional VAs, is poorer (I mean, among many other reasons). The performances are too slick, too "normal". They don't sound like people who are genuinely disturbed. It doesn't help that, _because_ the newer VAs were professionals, you end up being taken out of the experience. I certainly do, when I've heard these same people in hundreds of other games and anime dubs. The original VAs not only put in performances that matched the tone of the story, they're almost entirely known for this game. You aren't hearing the voice actors, but the _characters._

Gotta add my two cents: the voice actors actually rehearsed their lines extensively before recording. Every bit of awkwardness and audible pauses (no pun intended) was intentional (like Angelas' voice actress being much older than the character's chronological age).

The thing i love the most about this game is that when he finds the first creature is like "What is this outworld creature? Better hit it whit a crowbar!" Don't even blink, don't even look scared... "you know what? I will just kill it and move on with my life."

That voice acting may be shoddy at first but once you understand everything it makes perfect sense and you find out it's actually one of the best voice acting in any game let alone a horror game ever.

just completed this game today and I have to agree with the countless analysis videos that acknowledged that this is a masterpiece. It's weird that my strongest emotional response to the ending was relief when James and Laura escaped that foggy nightmare. I found myself able to fathom the idea that Angela deserved a whole lot better and how we could have saved her too. A bit unfortunate that nothing this Halloween is going to compete with the immersion I felt in that retched world. Well except Silent Hill 3...

You could always do an Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem video. One of the best psychological, Lovecraftian horror games. It's even got a name easy enough for a title. "Eternal Darksouls"

I was playing SH2 late at night when it first came out and I made it to the endless stairs at the historical society and it was playing some serious tricks on my eyes. The walls looked like they were breathing. I might have been drunk. Another night I decided to play through Metal Gear 2 in one go and the Colonel calls me and tells me I’ve been playing for a long time and should turn the game off. I seriously thought Konami knew how to operate my mirrors.

What the hell I don't remember the whispering in the apartments. Great video this is my favorite Silent Hill but I wouldn't argue with anyone about 1 or 3. The soundtrack is on another level.
