Wow this was super well done. No pun intended obviously lol if you told me, this was a legit thing in smash brothers melee back then, I would’ve been pissed to have found this out right now. I love the custom break the target stage. Great job man.
Sonic is in Melee now? Nah, what happened was that for so long, people couldn't unlock Sonic in Melee as you needed to defeat 100 fighters in Cruel Melee! As a result, Sega put him in Brawl, gave him a trailer, and made him easier to get! But now a brave, undeterred soul actually did the impossible and beat 100 cruel fighters in a single match...
My only gripe with the Sonic mod is that Sonic has the Sm4sh splits down smash instead of the infinite sign spin dash he had in Brawl. Other than that this is pretty awesome. I actually wanna try it if I had any knowledge how smash modding worked
I think they gave him that so less of his moves would be just a spindash. The reason they gave him so many spindash moves in Brawl was because they didn’t have any more time to work on him lol
If Sonic was officially added as a fighter in Smash Bros 64 back in 1999 and in Smash Bros melee back in 2001 now that will be really cool and awesome. 💙🦔💙
i remember back in 07 when youtube was starting, there was a rumor that sonic and toad were unlockable "secret characters" and people made "how to unlock sonic IN MEELE" and all those videos were basically rick roll videos fast forward to 2023 and there is an actual "sonic in melee" video which isnt a troll video..man how times have changed
Hm, I wonder if the crew behind the Akaneia Build are willing to collaborate with the crew behind Smash Remix. Because aside from the Melee newcomers in Remix, Akaneia shares a few of its additional fighters with it (namely Lucas, Sonic and Wolf), and if they worked together, we could see Charizard and Diddy Kong in Remix, and Wario, King Dedede and Dark Samus in Akaneia faster.
Those people at Akaneia went above and beyond with Sonic here. I thought Smash 2's model of Sonic was the most believable design for him in Melee, but nope, Akaneia created something more believable! And while most of the moveset is the same mediocre one we'd rather have changed up, it was understandably kept to add to the believability factor of if those rumours were true and he was actually in Melee. And trophies dedicated to the added characters...? Freakin' awesome! Though Sonic's Classic Trophy doesn't give him a unique model, which is a bit odd, but it is based off of official artwork of him, so there's that at least.
I remembered before mods were a thing, fake screenshots with Sonic and more characters were out of control when players were not convinced that those screenshots were fake and an april fools prank and made the other players and pranksters goes nuts, and now that mods exist after all those years, those screenshots aren’t fake anymore
God Melee AI is so annoying to fight on higher difficulties. All the do is jab to interrupt whatever you're doing, until you're high enough for them to rush you down, not to mention them SDIing any multi hit, I hate it
They also spam nair at any free frame they could potentially put out the move. Don’t get me started on how they perfect shield every projectile effectively giving every A.I opponent a reflector
Hopefully The Akaneia Build might have some of the added stuff Smash Remix does like its own announcer and having the bonus characters be in Classic Mode. It got some of the other cool stuff like stages and even trophies!
You know, it's funny how something that started out as an april fools joke from EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly) in 2001 actually became real through modding, of course nintendo did it first when they brought sonic to brawl in 08, but the modders did what they failed to do, and that was make sonic playable in melee. And the good news is now people don't have to get 20 KOs in cruel melee. 😆LOL

I’m a little surprised Wario wasn’t in the roster. Or King Dee Dee Dee. Sakura admitted that if they had more time he would have added both of them into melee.
If you are playing on Dolphin can you enable a 16:9 widescreen code? Ik im just one person but I personally think streched is the ugliest way to play lol.
@kpc9602 I believe the difficulty has to be 'Normal' or higher and that you have to get to the end of Adventure within 15 minutes i believe..? Could be wrong its been a while since i tried. :p
They need to remake Melee and add all the characters that have come into Smash. I'd love to see Ike, Joker, Byleth, Terry, Sora, and Cloud back in Melee.
