Oh man I remember when the Brawl vid first came out and many were piiiiised purely on the vid title alone saying it’s “the worst one” while missing the “apparently” part. Le sigh. These smash vids were fun and I await the day when he’ll do a proper video on Ultimate.

I had a feeling this compilation would come soon, glad to see it happen. Side note, I wonder if Scott managed to figure out Wavedashing without setting the house on fire🤔

Brawl was great especially for the soft-modding scene after the 'stack-smash' method was developed. So many great mods: Brawl+, Brawl Minus, and of course Project M...all without permanent changes to your Wii and voiding your warranty. Still worth revisiting. The slow, floaty gameplay of Brawl (compared to Melee) and emphasis on casuals may have been disappointing but the mods are so good and fun that they are still played today!

I have such fond memories of me and my best friend unlocking all the Melee characters, took forever but was SO much fun.

I actually really liked the 3DS circle pad for Smash. It probably also helped that I didn't have a Wii U so I was more used to the 3DS controls when visiting a friend with a Wii U.

One of my fondest memories of Melee was being bored and playing training alone, seeing how much chaos I could cause by spawning as many Pokéballs/Pokémon on screen as possible to obliterate my opponents 😂 talk about killing time as a kid. I was sad to discover there was a set limit on the number you could spawn in future titles... its small stuff like that which change and you may not even notice, but the kid inside me died that day

Hot take, but I don’t mind the fire emblem representation that much. I know that they’re over represented and their play styles are somewhat similar, I understand why people don’t like this. However, this is a play style that I like and am good at using.

So, cool thing about Melee. It had an option to play the game in Japanese, and if you did that and went to the trophy gallery, you could see the original Famicom and Super Famicom. It was the first time I ever saw what those consoles looked like. And the Virtual Boy was there too.

The one thing I really liked from Brawl was sub space emissary. I remeber going over to my friends house the day the game released and we had a sleepover pulling an allnighter to beat it in one sitting. Peak childhood memory.

I kinda forget all these video are from 2018 so it’s a bit of whiplash between upscale footage of Scott house from the first part of 2018 to Scott current blue paper wall of the second half Yet all these video and the year feel recent like smash ultimate which seems what these video were building up which may date the video but since ultimate got supported until late 2021 feel recent

I have only owned brawl, and I adore it so thank you for praising my baby even if if failed as a smash game. brawl was my fave! i love the art style and the story mode! loved creating my own stages. it was slower paced tho now that you mention it 😊

I have re-watched this alot already:/ but its so good

When the original came out I had moved on past Nintendo at the time (was a huge fan of the NES/SNES but had to follow my JRPGs to Playstation) but I dabbled because the concept was so cool. Of course I put in a ton of Melee time in college but didn't get overly into the series until Brawl. Maybe it's because I was incredibly depressed and isolated socially but I threw so much time into it, not even realizing the reputation until 4 came out. And thankfully by that time my life had gotten so much better so tons of time on the 3DS version and eventually the Wii U title when I got the bundle that included Splatoon. Hope eventually he covers Ultimate as that's what I would consider an almost perfect game, the lack of trophy descriptions being my only disappointment but understandable considering all the game already offers.

I just started playing brawl literally a few days ago. Thanks to the fact that I found a copy at a gamestop of all places, And I can tell you it is immensely fun. Someone who has played exclusively fighter z For about two years, and has only been able To get a chance to play a few nintendo titles, I love this game. I used to play a lot of fighters and always wanted to play smash since I played the Nintendo 64 game, but unfortunately gaming as a whole has gotten ludicrously expensive. And I snagged this copy at about $22 and it has reminded me that gaming in the early 2000s was so much more fun than it is today. Can't wait to get a few friends together and quite possibly learn this game completely, as it feels so much smoother than what little ultimate I have played.

The most excited I got for Smash was the reveal of Mega Man. I ran out and bought a Wii U and tracked down the amiibo. I ended up selling my Wii U months after cuz it got boring with so few games and I bought one again just before the store closed.
