He certainly was struggling, but he was definitely taking a low amount of damage, blocking or avoiding all but 3 hits. The main problem is both clones of Marth and Meta Knight were too difficult to break through their defenses. He couldn't land a solid hit even while retaliating almost instantly. I mean he took a hit to the side, then uses that to follow and plant his sword and throw a boomerang at Meta Knight. That's pretty impressive.
This exact same scenario happened to me yesterday. I was playing Link, getting my butt kicked by 2 lvl 9 AI’s until my friend (who played Hero) swooped in and killed them...
@you ever just die, I honestly doubt that any cutscenes for the subspace emissary would be remade because there has been 3 smash games added since brawl,
It’s kind of cool to actually see how swordfighters would fight in the Smash universe. They actually fight going by the Smash universe logic (high jumps, fast sprinting, dodging, etc)
its not a smash universe, its assumed their worlds collide, by company, or that their stories were taking place in the same space but through different but in different times, but the first one seems to be the more given sense since when they interact its in these very general locations that none of them are really from directly
@@noahbohlin5462 I'd say hero of legend is the most experienced by the end of his journey. He defeated ganon with the full triforce, then defeated veran, onox, and proceeded to beat ganon another time, then defeated a nightmare version of ganon AGAIN. guys insane honestly
Exactly like he was literally 1v 2ing meta knight and marth without actually getting hit he was either dodging or blocking literally every swing that came his way
@Matthew Stratton hon, you really know nothing about Zelda lore. He's incredibly skilled- not just the best in a kingdom, but the best across all of the in-game races (not to mention Link can turn into a god in Majora's Mask) for every generation he's reborn into. He fights and defeats Ganondorf, who is the incarnation of Demise, embodiment of all evil and is an immortal god. He kills the equivalent of a god every game, hell, he himself bears the mark of one. Once again, it's *really* dumb to be having this argument. Let people have their opinions and favorite franchises and just move on, stop being immature.
I feel like no one really thought about Hero coming as a reinforcement because Link started struggling. Now what do I mean by that? I might be wrong but it looks like as Link already fought way more clones than just the two of them, getting exhausted soon. My man still holds his own though
Link woulda won that with the spinning attack before hero saved him but still THIS FIGHT IS SO FUCKING COOL I LOVE SEEING LINK FIGHT IN TRAILERS HES ONE OF MY FAVS
@@Cavereous nah if he can deal with swordsman that don’t have as many feats as link does he def didn’t have a prob it was jus prolly for the trailer tbh
I remember my reaction when I watched this in the direct, I was screaming things like: "Go Link! You can do this! Look out!" And then when Hero shows up I was like: "Meh" 😐. 😂😂😂😂.
You don't know the importance of Hero in the game, he is like the first character that was should be introduced to brawl even, the character has more history with Nintendo than any character in smash
It looked like Link was about to get serious for real, I would've liked to see it keep going. He definitely got enough space and time to read those two out. I'll be honest, you can't really mess with a guy who's been alive for over 10,000 years and reincarnated for probably about a million years. He'll mess you the fuck up.
For powerscaling fun: Marth scales to Medius who scales to continental. Metaknight scales to Kirby so he's at least planetary Link scales to planetary also since goddess Hylia can rend a planet with 1 slash, and Skyward Sword link surpasses her in the manga, and each Link is arguably stronger. Hero scales to Multiversal LOL!
Marth is continental at best. Link is planetary. And Meta knight is universal. In conclusion: Link beats Marth easily (along with the majority of Fire Emblem protagonists), but he has no chance against Meta Knight.
@@carlosrt1252 Really? Where was that said, can you show me? I'm not trying to challenge anything, but I have always known that non-game material was non-canon.
There is not enough botw link cutscene fights. Almost all of his fights are in the actual game and cutscenes takes place after fights. Since he is probably one of the most experienced swordfighter amongst all of the links...
Link looks amazing in this animation, shame this is his only major scene with this art outside of world of light and a few cameos. He seriously puts up a great fight though
SPOILERS FOR AGE OF CALAMITY: If you think about it, this fight scene kinda foreshadows that one cutscene in Age of calamity where Link fights against malice versions of Revali, Mipha, Daruk, and Urbosa.
That, and the way Marth and Meta Knight close in on Link is quite similar to when the blights are about to finish off the champions before their “descendants” come in
To be honest Link probably could have survived. But notice he’s going 2v1 if it was a 1v1 with marth link would have won and if it was a 1v1 with MK well..I’m not so sure who would win that one
@@KniLsZZ link would win a 1v1 against meta knight. meta knight reminds me of thunderblight ganon in the zelda games, and link took thunderblight out easily.
@@ness_vibe "meta knight reminds me of thunderblight ganon in the zelda games, and link took thunderblight out easily." But he is far from thunderblight Ganon, Meta Knight is EXTREMELY FAST for example, and short
@@ZE.brigitte i was comparing the speed of both, irrespective of skill set. the point i wanted to make is that link has dealt with fast opponents and handled them pretty well, so it’s not too far fetched to assume that link can easily make the correct adjustments when facing meta knight as well.
Link must have been in a weakened state and the Hero just came right in time to save the day, with him suffering from no fatigue. The takeaway here is that Link was in a weakened state and held out long enough, for help to arrive.
