LottaGuitar I’ve completely changed my mind on Piranha Plant, I’m happy it’s in. For starters, putting it in is a message. People will argue that a character shouldn’t be added because their powers and fighting style wouldn’t work in Smash (like with Sans), or that a character isn’t popular or relevant enough to be in Smash (like Bandanna Waddle Dee). Putting in a cannon fodder character is saying that none of that matters, if Sakurai wants a character in Smash, and nobody with more authority is going to stop him, then god dammit that character is gonna be in Smash. The second thing is that PP wasn’t necessarily “chosen over” anybody, he’s not part of the base game. He’s extra content that you can download about a month after the games release (for free if you preorder the game), so they likely didn’t decide to add it until after they were done with programming a good chunk of the game. They didn’t chose it over Wailuigi, they probably didn’t even think of adding it until long after deciding Wailuigi would be an Assist. So yeah, I won’t hate on it.

Because this is the lazy cashgrab smash. They literally said "Trophies take too much time" so they replaced them with Brawl Sticker collection. Then they continued on about how they added Gold coin micro-transactions so you can buy content in game instead of having to play and unlock it. I've been a long time smash fan but this feels like such a soulless mess, even with all the characters being back at it. Don't even get me started on the watered down single player and the pointlessly removed side content.

@Pharzel 70 characters that already have their movesets made, characters rendered, and everything else completed aside from being actually ported to the game. I don't doubt that porting them took effort but at what cost. What new features are you talking about exactly because from everything i've seen it seems to me that features have been REMOVED and not added. As for the "Adventure mode" it's not even an adventure mode it's the Smash tour from Sm4sh, Reskinned with a nice background and some gatcha system Brawl Stickers. I feel like it's likely a mix of Sakurai being burnt out + the new Nintendo management essentially forcing him to add Microtransactions and remove features all to get the game out quickly and make the most $$$

A demonstration of Piranha Plant will probably come close to the character's release.

I also checked the Nintendo website, it is a bit confusing. It talked about the free download but it also said it will be a DLC character. Who knows. I just hope it will be DLC.

​@@Chronicsonic23 Being an icon doesn't deconfirm a character as Kirby and Lucina are also icons. If spirits cannot become DLC that prevents like 90% of highly requested characters. Im fairly certain if a character like Shantae was chosen as a DLC character, her spirit could simply be replaced with Risky. The only change needed would be replacing the spirit image and text with Risky. Replacing an assist trophy on the other hand isn't easy, as resources were already put into making it. Geno Id say is on the more probable side, as Sakurai said he wanted him in Brawl but Nintendo didnt have good relations with SE at the time. As Geno was a Mii fighter costume in Wii U, they can get the rights for him now. The only problem is "advertising" compared to Sora. If Square Enix picked Sora as their rep, it would become a big advertisement for Kingdom Hearts 3 and help their sales, whereas theres no upcoming games with Geno, so he doesnt have that advantage.

The main reason geno hasn’t, and I believe ever will be added into smash is because it mostly depends on what the Japanese demographic wants, not the North American demographic. This is why incenerour got added, he’s super popular in Japan right now since sun and moon

I’ve seen someone talking about how there have been quite a few joke characters, and they’re actually not bad. Example, Game & Watch and Duck Hunt Duo.

@D4NKL0V3R I'm with this guy. Theres a difference between the retro characters and the weird characters. For instance: In Melee, Ice Climbers were the retro rep, while Game and Watch was the WTF character In Smash 4, Duck Hunt was the retrobbnrep, and Wii Fit was the weird character. And in Ultimate, King K Rool is considered the retro rep, and the Plant is the weird one.

Sakurai specifically said World of Light is gonna be more fun based than story based, so I'm not expecting much for cutscenes. I don't think that that's a huge deal either, but it would be nice to have additional cutscenes. My point is: don't get your hopes up, or else you'll probably disappoint yourself.

I liked the Subspace cutscenes but i bet theres only gonna be a few in The World of Light maybe for the intro, bosses, and ending

There was a theater type button shown off during an interview and through a translation the description specifically points out adventure mode so my bet is there will be a lot of cutscenes to warrant an entire section for them
