Think about it. Sephiroth didn't get a Smash invite card. He literally broke into that universe to chase Cloud, and killed the most powerful threat so he could take him on himself. What a madlad.

this was the one song everyone wanted when Cloud showed up in Smash 4 and we didn't get it because the music rights belong to the composers and I guess Nintendo didn't want to pay such a hefty fee. then Smash Ultimate came out, and we still got no new FF7 songs because of the same reason as Smash 4 I believe. But now that Sephiroth is in Smash, they have to finally pay up to get his song in.

@@SingTingz31 Not true. Nobuo Uematsu is actually really good friends with Sakurai, and even did the theme for smash brawl. Square owns all the music, and are very protective of it.

@@kanebravo953 combination of the two reasons actually. SE's composers have more control over their music then most other companies and Square is just super protective of it. That's why we didn't get remixes for the DQ music (because the composer of them is not the greatest person).

In the trailer, which I was commenting on, Bayonetta attacked Sephiroth, whom she likely assumed was “just another Angel” and got her ass handed to her.

WTH, why did this trailer say FF7?! Is this the EU trailer or something? He's the first second third-party character that isn't an echo. Also, the song is not in the game, we always get a stage and a song with every DLC character. Yes, Midgar splits in the game, it was just for show.

On Midgar with Hazards on when Odin appears after collecting Summon Materia he will slice the stage in half, so they used that + the camera angle to give the illusion of Sephiroth slicing the stage in half. Also, Sakurai has stated that only video game characters (characters that debuted in games) will be in Smash, so manga/anime ones (Goku, Trunks, etc.) will not.

I think what Rick means is that Sephiroth is the first dlc to come from the EXACT SAME game as a different character. Like even though Byleth comes from Fire Emblem Three Houses, all the Fire Emblem games are their own separate stories, same with Sephiroth.
