They only care about that cuz they can't adapt to the completely new playstyle, so they can't win as easily as they once had in melee.. therefore defeating the whole purpose of it being FOR FUN

the issue he has with melee isn't that people are still playing it, it's what it's become. nowadays it's a glitchfest with a handful of people who don't wanna play the new games because they don't wanna be bad again so they stick to melee. it's all people who have been playing forever and just want to keep being good instead of moving to new games.

referring to the low tier beating a high tier, that can happen in any game... and while it does have more game modes to offer, they all suck compared to the previous titles. The only really good one is Smash Run.

If we're weighing the entire game, it's gotta be Brawl. It has gamemodes that aren't just thrown in like Smash 4's are, and the best story mode by far.

Low Tiers beating High Tiers is not a good indication of balance.

Hylian Phoneguy Exactly. It's my favorite game in the entire Smash Bros. series for that reason. It may not be the best for "pros", but to me, thats not what smash is about. I remember so many good times playing brawl with friends, like when my best friend had a birthday party and we all had a giant 32 person tourney, and I won with sonic. It was a great time, and we weren't worried about being super good, we were just having fun. And to be honest, the music in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is unmatched. No other game even comes close to the music in brawl. The beautiful Latin infused orchestral soundtrack mixed with electronic remixes was perfect.

Smash 4 nearly has everything Brawl has, only without Subspace Emissary. However, Smash 4 features a lot more characters, maps, items, remixes of old classic songs, ect... I have no idea how you can claim Brawl is the better casual game when Smash 4 has far more content.

Pan Z I just prefer Brawl overall, to be honest. Smash 4 didn't really add that much that I liked. A good multiplayer, Master Core, a few new characters, and not a lot else (At least, not that I could enjoy playing for more than an hour). And it took away some of my favorite features from Brawl, like an intro I would watch more often than I would skip, Boss Rush, the Coin Launcher, transformable characters, and of course Subspace Emissary. I don't hate Smash 4, but if I just want to play casually, I'm much more likely to play Brawl.

Not dissing on you for liking Brawl, but Smash 4 does add a lot. 8 player smashes on some of the more wacky maps are an absolute joy.

Oh, yeah, I forgot 8-player Smash! It's definitely a cool and useful mode. Still not sure I would trade the excellent Coin Launcher for it, though :p. As for the maps, both games have unique and fun battle arenas, from Gamer in Smash 4 to the Ice Climbers mountain in Brawl. I'd say they're about even in terms of unique maps.

I honestly don't really care if they have a story mode in Smash 5 (wouldnt mind if they do put one in) as long as they put in pichu since i'm the only one on the planet who cares about it anymore.

Okay, let's do this @The Great Gawain. Intellectual versus intellectual, and for the sake of argument I'm going to take your comment seriously. Why am I taking your comment seriously? Because of the clear amount of saltiness you showed against @Boerger plays with his reply. So, you say that ScottFalco hypocritically trashed the entire community for playing the game their way? What if I told you that, in some manner, you're just frustrated that he decided to choose Super Smash Bros. Melee as the main punching bag? Let's go with argument one, which is the fact that the only game he really had something bad to say (except Super Smash Bros 4 for heavily relying on RNG for custom move and custom item grind which everyone complains about that so no one's going to insult ScottFalco about it) was Melee. In so many cases, he's right! Melee is a broken mess of a fighting game, causing characters to be higher in the tier list than intended and some to be lower than intended. Now, when the Melee competitive scene first started and even for a few years, not many competitors were trying to actively break the game. This allowed for new competitors to join more easily and be able to do fairly well. The problem is, however, that as time moved on, the competitive scene did become less of who's skill when it came to fighting was better and became more about who could break the game more effectively. I understand that breaking the game also requires skill, but having to break the game and all these new complex moves and combos capitalizing on Melee's flaws has caused players wanting to join the competitive scene to look elsewhere. Yes, the capitalization on Melee's flaws and glitches is unique for a fighting game and gives it's tournaments a sense of charm, it also takes away the ability to more easily play the game competitively. Now, let's move on to another problem ScottFalco had about the Melee community, which was their modding of current Super Smash Bros games. I have to admit that, yes, people can play how they want. The only problem is that there are really only two reasons that people mod new Super Smash Bros games with the controls and same flaws as Melee, and I assure you that they won't be because of nostalgia. One reason is the time the players put into learning how to break Melee, this one is a little understandable. Okay, competitive players and veterans of Melee have put years into honing their skills and breaking Melee that they don't want to learn the controls of new games because that makes them feel like the time they spent learning Melee in its entirety was a waste. Trust me, if a person puts effort like that into something, they do not want to view it as a waste. So, instead of learning the new controls and the ins and outs of new Super Smash Bros games, they just transport Melee into it. While this does make sense, it also causes problems such as Melee players not being able to play games like Super Smash Bros 4 competitively BECAUSE they don't want to learn the new controls. Now, here's the second reason, which is a big problem in all long-running game series. They believe that, despite the flaws of Melee, and despite it's unbalance and glitches, Melee is still the best Super Smash Bros game. This is a more severe version of avid players of old games not wanting their time to feel wasted because they put in so much time just learning everything about the game. Sadly, instead of using the reason that they simply put too much hard work into learning the flaws and controls of Melee, they use the fact that Melee is the "better game". It obviously is not, there have been videos and essays stating otherwise, but Melee veterans don't want to listen. Instead, if you say anything bad about Melee, they'll roast you and bully you because you dare say something bad about their glorious Melee. There is a difference between ignorance and stubbornness, and Melee veterans are obviously stubborn and not ignorant. Now, he had also made jokes implying his hypocrisy in the video. Of course, no one's going to point that out because everyone is too busy wanting to find evidence supporting their argument. So, here you are! You state to be an intellectual, so let's see what you can do against this argument. You see, us intellectuals have to write super long essays in RU-vid comments to state our argument because writing super long essays make us seem superior to everyone else because we put the time in to construct one.
