Returning from Phoenix to Indiana. Torrential rain puts the HWK riding gear to the test - not a good result. Rest stops for breakfast work out great. #supertenere1200 #solorider #xt1200z #HWK #sidiboots
Great video great ride ya gotta love the freedom of the motorcycle. Great to cook along the road too.Scary stuff when you see the carnage on the road in the heavy rain, that scares the hell out of me thats when you really realise how vulnerable we are on motorcycles. Safe riding ❤from Ireland.and behind every good man theres a good woman...
It's been informative following your trip. I own a Victory Vision Tour and have been considering getting a Super 10 as a second motorcycle. I am very tall and should be able to flat foot it. In regards to gear, many claim to be waterproof, but few fully deliver. It is always a good idea to throw something over if you expect to be heavy or prolonged rain. The Super 10 has a proven track record for durability and reliability. Those characteristics are what makes it still the best ADV as far as I am concerned. By the way, the music is fantastic. What a talented musician!
I think you are correct. I could spend $600 on expensive gear and still have to cover it up with $30 Frogg Toggs in heavy rain. I should have shown some footage of the Frogg Toggs on this trip. They did keep me completely dry - when I was wearing them.
I've had my Klim Badlands Pro jacket and pants for 9 years now and they still do a great job of keeping me dry. Needless to say the cost of these have really increased over the years and I doubt I'd cough up that kind of money now, but even a used set might be worth looking into.
Looking to replace my motorcycle which I lost in the last hurricane here in FL....and the ST is at the top of my list if I don't return to a bmw. Such a reliable bike!!!!
You should see the new V Strom 1050. Very nice and major upgrades. Our day will come again. You're a good son, I don't care what GroovyBean says about you.
I sure can recommend the foot pegs. They make a huge difference in comfort on long rides. Amazing how much it helps to be able to change leg position during the ride. At least for me and my old geezer body parts.
@@SwampGeezer I am retired from active duty military 1984 to 2012. I am living off my retirement and VA disability, so my cash flow is limited. Biden nomics kicked the crap out of my living expenses.
Hello SG, great videos, I'm enjoying them. I have a 2017 ST. I'm trying to figure out what windshield you have as it looks like it does a good job. If you have a moment could you tell me what kind it is? Thank you.
Sure, thanks for watching. It's a Puig Touring. The guy who had it before me put it on. Not sure about the mounting bracket. It's got some adjustment but don't know if it was part of the Puig setup. It works great moving air up over my helmet. I still get more side buffeting than I want though. I have a VStream on my FJR that works very well. That thing is huge though so probably wouldn't try it on the S10. I might look for a smaller VStream some day. For now the Puig is fine, just have to have good ear plugs at 80+ mph.
For me, ST is a more comfortable riding position especially since I can stand easier and that really helps with long ride numb buns. The FJR has better wind protection but I have a large "barn door" V-Stream windshield on it.
