I love how your garden has changed from year to year as you have learned to garden in Alaska. This version is absolutely stunning! I know the green houses will be so beneficial also. You, Aaron, and the kiddos worked so hard to get your garden to where it is now. I am getting some good ideas to add to my garden (backyard) as the different seasons come along. God bless you all!

You and your family have done a fantastic job and your garden is beautiful, the structure the greenhouses and plants are something to be very proud of! Now I can’t wait to see how you can, freeze and preserve all of the bounty! ♥️🙏🏻🇨🇦
Hi Jessica, Aaron and sweet family! Wow, your garden looks amazing. Lots of work, but the worst is over and now you have a beautiful secure garden to grow nutritious vegetables and fruits for the family. I’m so happy for you Jessica, your dream garden. Have a blessed day everyone!
Wow your garden looks so beautiful. I look forward to seeing it fill in. And all the flowers bloom. Lots of great changes this year. Thanks for sharing.
Garden looks great!! Nice job! I think people start the cattle panel arches higher up on the poles, or up in a raised bed, which makes them taller. I love your modification to create your arch from the ground to the fence!
Beautiful fence. One word of caution, you should put your t-posts on the outside of the arches. If the wire holding it in place fails, the arch will spring out and could badly hurt someone. The greenhouse is going to be great. I wish something like that would work for me, but we get 30-50mph wind gusts regularly.
Hello Jessica. Sorry I haven’t been around. I’m dealing with some heart issues and just didn’t have time to keep up with my friends. Si I’m feeling better and trying to play catch up. Your garden is going to be beautiful. I look forward to following you this growing season. Take care and I’m hoping to be able to watch the videos a little sooner. ✌️❤️🇺🇸
I told you before I just threw a bunch of different bell pepper seeds in my tote in April covered them with plastic uncovered them around mother's day and they are doing great, I have rain water I collected for use when it doesn't rain. I'm hoping all of them produce! Your garden and green houses look amazing 💜🐸
The kiss of the sun for pardon The song of the birds for mirth One is nearer to God’s heart in the garden Than anywhere else on Earth -Dorothy Gurney Your garden looks amazing! So much hard work went into this stunning space. May this be your best gardening year. I can't wait to see your bounty. 💛

wow you all worked so hard! fantastic results - love the fence and gates and greenhouses and the garden layout and I'm betting you are going to have a great pepper and tomato harvest! those grow bags are wonderful! ♥
Love it ! Jessica you are a wonder and Arin is so good at building your dreams into reality!!!! Do you need netting over your squash and cabbage, broccoli & Brusselsprouts?
The trick is raised beds and also they leave 1ft to 18 inches from the ground on each side of the panel to make the arch. 💚 the garden looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.
@@modernhomesteadalaska Jessica what is the handy black tool you used to dig your holes standing up? I have severe low back pain so getting the garden in before it’s to late is harder and harder as I get older. Any tool I can use to do what I love is priceless 💚
Your garden looks great!!! So excited to watch and see how your garden and family grows. Can you link the place you get the black garden/plant bags? I’d love to get some for my back porch. We, unfortunately, rent so I can’t plant in the ground but have a large screened in back porch I could have plants in. Thank you!
our tables I did frame lije you but I used square wire hardware cloth for table soil could fall to ground n water to will last longer then wood n I think more cost effective I don't know I just made tables likebwe had at nursery land n our high school green houses n nursey
I wish I was there. it's 111°in laughlin today. Just finished making n eatting mole n when sun goes down I'll go n water n check on for chili's once we get hot they stop but plant keeps growing . I've lost 2 I think lizards or another bug but only those 2 I'll have to look at tag n possplant new in pots n keep on patio.will be making new hanging baskets for patio
jess, where do you get the large quantity of the fish bone meal? Palmer farm supply? The Cattle fencing also I assume? I want some for next year to do a trellis but wish they did small portions dont need an entire roll. I bought a new type of tom seeds from territorial seed co this spring, called Oregon Spring. they are doing great and nice thick stems. Ill let u know how they do
I’m curious to hear your honest Alaskan opinion on those potting bags, I used the same ones last year here in DFW and they were great at first but as we hit triple digits they just couldn’t contain the moisture needed, I’m sure being black didn’t help, but I eventually lost everything I didn’t transplant out of them. This year, I had a random voluntary catnip plant pop up in one and even with crazy amounts of rain I had to replant it once it got about a foot tall,, the pot just can’t maintain moisture.
Last year I planted a couple peppers in them outside and they were the only ones to grow, but keep in mind it rained e eryday and was so cold. So no need to water at all everything was soaked, so I’m hoping they help heat the roots a bit. I will find a way to grow tomato and peppers if it does me in
I am not set on the greenhouse they have to be taken down they ones we are trying can’t take our winter, so anything in them has to be moved, grow bags absorb the sun and heat and cause the roots of the plants to be warmer then in the ground, and our soil temps are simply to cold to grow peppers and tomatoes, they are easy to move and can be changed out, they last several years giving me time to figure out a more permanent greenhouse and bed situation in that. All while I still grow the beautiful things
Completely makes sense. Great reasons. What an efficient method to grow certain crops. You probably mentioned these reasons before in the videos, so thanks for your patience and reply to my message:)
Good question, thus year I didn’t purchase any seeds, I traded labor for the materials to build the fence. And I had purchased the grow bags last year with the intention to grow the tomatoes and peppers so those were last year’s pots, I take all the free pots and holders from the home depot I can. So this year I got some amendments at around $30-$60 and some soil to top the beds and such last year I got so much this year I needed only the truck load at $125, So this year soil for seed starts, amendments, soil for grow bags, I’m into it around $500 for a 50ftx50ft garden space, and my labor as well as Aaron’s
What a beautiful space this year! I'm on my fourth year of gardening and I love that every year I learn better how to do things and every year I can make some changes to improve!
