I'm with you Gaz, the DRM1 is one of my favourite instruments. I am sort of glad the MKIV doesn't make the MKIII obsolete... I love the Kick on the MKIII. All that aside, it is really nice to see a company rise from the ashes and release such a timeless product.

Agreed, I love the kick on the MKIII. The "too much" is just right in my book. That said this is still a great box with some nice updates.

I am glad they fixed the hi-hats volume though. Mine always fall short-MK3. These sound way better

Can I see one in a digital architecture with all the same interface configuration: 72 knobs and individual outputs, then add a small screen where I may choose from 500 different digital waveform drum samples, and store presets? 9 knobs for each sample that transmit and receive MIDI CC : 1) level 2) filter with 3 switches LP, HP, BP 3) resonance 4) Attack 5) Decay 6) Release 7) noise with 3 switches White, Pink, Brown 8) Low EQ 9) HI EQ I will then add my own mixer and effects.

so they changed allot but not the best to explain what until now, I like the switching power supply, possibly will lower the 50/60hz hum on the first channels, the retriggering drum channels is great, will make it sound more stable, I wish they will bring back the blue faceplate from the mkii :)

the gate are optional to save some money for people who don't need "analog" triggers.

I think DRM1 is the best drum synth for ambient and experimental electronica, and it has a unique sound for synth pop, new wave etc...And I think this machine is made for tweaking live

maybe it will be better on the back, it will ruin the clean look, for who ever need cv the twincussion will be a much better option anyway.

They’ll never do that, that’s why they developed the Twincussion, they discussed in the past that they’re purposely different ideas.

@@Digiphex it's based on the same circuits minus most of the modulations, it has extensive cv support, true real time triggering and fits in your eurorack setup. i don't think it's a replacement since it will need more to do some of the things the drm1 do. you can also modify the drm1 like this guy did: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vetbNiWkpKA.html

Oooh 🎉 these guys NEED to make a smaller desktop version with an enjoyable sequencer. We’re many that love these sounds but won’t enter the Eurorack craziness ;-) NB: Gaz please make them all demo a few sounds. That’s what we’re most keen on really.

This isnt Eurorack, it is already a desktop/19" rack mountable, sequence it via DAW or Midi.

I feel like you can't really make it much smaller - those knobs feel quite comfy to use, any smaller I think you'd be into the "pinch"" territory. Also that flat spot on the right is great for putting a pedal when you're sending out a channel to a pedal to insert back into the main mix.

I think it already does. Juno had 10 in a couple of weeks ago and only 1 left now. I keep seeing it used with Arturia Beatstep and that’s as cheap as chips.

@@stuartbennett4301 sequencer- unfortunately not Stuart, I used to own one and sold as it was hard to get a standalone hardware sequencer. This was a good few years ago before the analogue renaissance of cheapness. Vermona could do a DFAM and stick 8 steps on it.

Maybe, but I have a Dfam and as good as it is (although it’s not a primary drum synth, it shines much better in tandem with another more classic drum machine) 8 steps on a drum sequencer just isn’t enough.

I have Push but I fancy the DRM1 with either Polyenq Seq or Mode Machines SEQ12. 16 steps for each instrument channel right in front of your eyes 🥳

It was introduced around the same time as the Zoom 1201, that was released in 1997. A great time to live in Amsterdam.

i will usually agree with you but the differences was never explained until now, so maybe its not that great for anybody new to it, but for whoever wish to upgrade this was spot on.
