One of my favorite song, back when it was just released. Even after 10 years, the faint memory of nostalgia still lingers in the air. I hope the same feeling still there, for future me. And those who found this song.
It'll surely be there. Special and deep memories like this won't die. Just make sure of building a good future and new good memories so you can look back at this feeling nostalgic but not depressed.

Fukken hell lyrics D': dis hurt: supercell - Silver Airships (translated by BSP) Whenever I climbed up the road You were always there, yawning, as you waited for me In the town that smelled like seawind You and I would grow up That’s what I had thought The sea gulls cried out That summer, on the road home, I chased after them with you Silver airships shine Only the sea hasn’t changed You laughed on that hill I want to see you one more time In the bike basket We both kept our bags While complaining to each other We pushed up the hill road On that straight road We were probably wrong when we thought We could go anywhere Silver airships flew I found them in that sky The wind that touched my cheek on that hill There’s no one here anymore There’s no one The silhouette of passing days stretched out I ran after you I’ve always loved you But you never said anything… Silver airships shine Only the sea hasn’t changed You laughed on that hill I want to see you one more time Silver airships flew I waved to see you off that day And now, on that road On this hill, I’m up ahead waiting for you On this hill, I’m up ahead waiting for you…
+Matthew Luke The lyrics in this whole album are incredible and this song is my favorite. It is very depressing. The lyrics make me think of a young couple and the man is sent off to war (in a silver airship) and the wife is left waiting for his safe return. Sadly he has not returned yet (or will not return) and she is stuck waiting for her lost love one. If i had unlimited talents, i would totally animate a music video showing that story, lol Maybe even throw in a happy twist at the end where a bunch of refugees return in the airships and they thank the wife because her husband saved them or something... haha I'm just rambling my ideas... Truly a heartbreaking story in any language. I think they could've benefited with showing more narrative like that in the music video but they left it up to interpretation. The song is definitely about missing someone that you love.
+krudmuphinstudioz Wow, war.. that's kinda heavy. In my version of imagination, they just a couple of childhood friend who grew up together. And one day the boy had to move out from their hometown. The lyric "I always loved you, but I never said it" convince me that they are teenagers (just like your usual anime drama). and "In the bike basket, We both kept our bags" they both are students, so maybe the boy move out to continue his education or something.. But that's the beauty of a song, anyone can interpret it however they want. Nonetheless this is a damn beautiful heartbreaking song.
+haritscool08 Good points, i overlooked the lyric "I always loved you, but I never said it" and that changes the perspective quite a bit. Either way, the song can apply to many situations and no matter what it is pretty depressing.... so yeah, that's what makes it such a beautiful song, haha!
ok, you convinced me, i'll watch this movie^^ I just love this kind of song, that can make you cry even if you don't understand the lyrics, and when you read the translation you cry again^^
I think there is a reason why her voice has different pitches at different times of the song. If you look up the lyrics on this song, you will see that it is about the narrator's longing for her childhood friend. At the beginning of the song, her pitch is similar to a child's, but by the end of the song, the pitch definitely matured. The change in pitch might represent the change from a child grieving her friend's departure to an adult reflecting on her childhood friend?
Based on what I understood from the song. This shows her regret for not being able to confess to her childhood friend, which she is no longer able to see in the present. Last line basically says: I’m still waiting for you.

Different people have different taste in music. You can't expect everyone to like it. Some people like slow music, some people like fast music. Some people like heavy metal, some don't. It's the same as people asking "Who the fuck dislikes heavy metal?"
Nerawareta Gakuen Extra infos: I found this on animesuki forum. Things you need to know about the settings: - Psychic seems to allow telepathy, and more importantly, time traveling. It's implied that it can do other stuff too. - There is this... natural law, kinda like Gaia's will, that will keep these time traveling things in check. IF someone goes to a timeline that he doesn't belong to, that law will erase his existence entirely, as if he never existed in the first place. Any inconsistency will be patched up. The only thing that can counter that is psychic power. It works like a fuel. The longer the person stays in a different timeline, the more psychic power he will be drained of. When he runs out, he dies/gets erased. That 'hourglass' thingy Kyogoku was holding is sorta like his power meter. It tells him how much time he got left staying in the different timeline before he must return to the future or die. Also, when a person gets erased, psychics who knew that person and still have power left will still remember them. - There's another rule: Each person may only physically time travel ONCE (one round trip). If someone tries to do it a second time, he will automatically die form a heart attack. - To minimize risk, people form the future operates time traveling in pair: One as a person, physically, and the other as a projection entity (his body still in the future) which looks like some small animal. The projection will act as a guide and the eyes of the person as well as communication. The projection cannot return to future and will simply vanish when its job is done. The person is not affected in the future. Events between Grandpa and Kyogoku's father: - Kyogoku's father tried to carry out the plan the first time and met Seki's grandpa when they were both young. - Grandpa somehow stopped him from succeeding. - During that time, Kyogoku's father fell in love with a girl (who happens to be a psychic as well) whom Grandpa knew, and she went to/returned to the future with him. This is a bad decision, because she doesn't belong to the future. But she done it anyway. - They had a child, and that's Kyogoku. This complicated things even more, becuz her act of giving birth to a child in the future essentially tied her to the future, but she also had ties from the original timeline. So now she's stuck in between and was deemed not belonging to either time. She will get erased even if she returns to her original timeline. Eventually, her power runs out and got erased. (Hence Kyogoku saying, no photo, no record, nothing was left behind about his mother.) - Grandpa noticed people around him had all forgotten about her, and realized that she died. He set up a gravestone for her (which we seen him visiting in the film.) Events between Kenji and Natsuki: - When Kenji was born, Grandpa noticed that he has psychic power. In hopes that he'd get a normal life, he sealed Kenji power in the form of the dog, Shiro. - When they were both children, Kenji fell of from the rooftop when he and Natsuki were chatting with the paper cup phone, and soon died from injury. - Natsuki's power awakened afterwards, and she went back in time to save Kenji. But she doesn't have enough power to completely resist the natural law. As she was about to be erased, Grandpa was implied to have intervened and kept her from being erased, partially. The accident event ended having Natsuki falling form the rooftop and breaking her leg instead of Kenji falling to his death. However, psychic Natsuki (and most of her memory of the event) was erased and she had become a normal person. Which explains two things: the comment from what's-her-name-again that she strangely didn't pass the psychic selection, because she USED to be a psychic. And that she remembered Kenji falling while Kenji remembers Natsuki falling (they don't know why though). Events in the movie... I'm just skip to the important parts since the above information can fill the gaps somewhat. - Kyogoku traveled to Kenji's timeline to attempt and second round of his father's plan. The fluff animal is his father's projection I think. - The plan is the same as stated in the movie. Although I might argue that some of it still doesn't make sense... like, I don't see the point of bringing the psychics of this timeline back to the future. They can't stay long there and will eventually have to come back or be erased. - Another plan was to erased Seki and Natsuki's existence so they cannot intervene with their plan. - Kenji's little sister is also a psychic. - Kyogoku didn't want/could not bring Kahori back to the future, because he'd be repeating the same mistake as his father and ultimately cause Kahori's death. Actually, death worse than death. - Kyogoku didn't want to carry out the plan in the end and chose to let his power run out and let the law erase him. Kenji tries to stop him, but he doesn't have enough power and was about to be erased with Kyogoku. Grandpa and little sister intervened again, and this time it would seem he gets a heart attack because it was his second time intervening, though he managed to live through in the credits. - Kenji brought Kyogoku back to the future. At the end he returned to his original timeline. The little animal next to Kenji is Kyogoku's projection, who came here just to see Kahori one more time (even though she no longer remembers him.) - As soon as Kyogoku returned to the future, his deeds in the current timeline were reversed back to normal. We don't know whether they made any difference to the future. It was assumed to have turn for the better (slightly) somehow...
I already watch Nerawareta Gakuen even before I read this while listening to this song I decide to scroll down the comment section up until now I didn't fully understand what's the movie about (I watched it cz watanabe mayu is the VA for the main heroine) then I read this but gave away half way through (my head is hurt) maybe somewhen I will read it, i think you explained this so nicely
Omg thank you soo much!!! I've just finished this anime and there's something I don't understand. This's such an amazing anime( but I still feel sad about Kyogoku and Kahori T_T)
I just watched Nerawareta Gakuen and fell in love with this song from the first time I heard it. Masterpiece. Japanese music is another level of greatness.❤❤❤

is the moovie rly good? i watched the 2 first minutes and stopped like 'why the fk am i looking that shit?" is it a stupid and bad start for a good film or a bad start for a bad film with good music? kinda sad cause i love this music^^
still here in 2021. One of my favourite anime movie and song . This movie songs is soo beautiful. I don't know how this anime movie can be so underreted.
Let me explain. Supercell is a group of musicians and illustrator band together to make stuffs. For the music they don't have a dedicated member for vocals. So before, it was Nagi Yanagi who provided the vocals for the album Today Is A Beautiful Day, a great album. After that Nagi Yanagi was signed by another label, so Supercell (Ryo) found new vocals which are the current Chelly and Koeda.
I watched anime at a very young age and the thing that always fascinated me about it was the opening and ending songs for the anime shows. I always had an emotional attachment to the music. It's structured me into the mentality I have nowadays when I listen to music. I prefer Japanese music over any other language because I listen to the songs for the tunes, not the moralities.

I'm still listening to this beautiful song, it brings back many memories from when I was still 16 years old, how I would like to go back to those moments where I met my first love and experienced many things. I didn't know that life would be so difficult as an adult but I must continue, I will not give up, I will return and hope with a smile and not writing with tears like today
whenever i listen to this song, make me remember of this song sometimes. country roads, take me home to the place, i belong west virginia, country momma take me home, country road
The way this song sounds so nostalgic even for first time viewers... The music video is amazing especially the miniature scene and at the end where she walked out.... like she's moving on what's in the past.
That's actually not true. Staff lists were released for the "My Dearest" and "Kokuhaku" music videos confirming that both Koeda and Ryo did appear in them. The vocalist in this video is the same person seen in both of the aforementioned music videos.
Actually, I think it's not Koeda in the video. I thought they used actors for the band and the vocalists in the videos? I think Chelly and Koeda's real faces are kept a secret.
I do hope you all have looked up the lyrics to this song. This song means a lot to me, and I'm sure a lot of other people as well. I'm really glad to have been introduced to this band. And I hope all of you feel the same. This band really is one of a kind.
It wasn't a speculation. It wasn't an opinion either because I had a source and it wasn't like I had "nothing good to say"about this beautiful song as well as the talented singer Koeda. Also, if you are so sure that this is Koeda, can I see how you know? I don't see a cast list anywhere confirming that she's Koeda. I read a short biography about Koeda where I found my information. Where did you find out that she's Koeda?
He meant that girl in PV isn't Koeda. But in fact it's Koeda. And in all PVs starting from My Dearest and newest, the girl in is Koeda. It's very easy to notice, just few detailed observations. Just compare Giniro hikousen and Kokuhaku e.g. But i really don't know why supercell decided not to hide koeda.
