I supercharged the DJI Avata by taking it apart and putting it on a massive iFlight Taurus X8 V3 Cinelifter FPV Drone. This was a crazy idea I had a while ago and just decided to give it a try! The result was pretty epic and a lot of fun.

Nice! Great proof of concept. Agree, can’t wait for the Air Unit 03 to be released. Feel like FPVs moving forward at least. Control Signal…Link Quality are getting better which is really great! 👍👍

I would NEVER put a expensive camera on a iFlight drone! they are famous for having issues! i know three people who have a taurus that just blew the esc mid flight!

@@ZEN01268 lots of people ask me that but I have no idea. It's definitely not the same verification as people with a huge subscriber base. Maybe because I've had android phones and been on youtube and gmail since close to the beginning?

Yeh I have thought about it, but I don’t have enough time 😂 if I leave the gps module on top I’ll get distance and speed telemetry. Battery would be trickier. I could program and ADC to convert the voltage of the main battery onto a scale which the Avata would read, but I just don’t have the time 🙈

@@LukeMaximoBell1 can't wait to see where the next project leads. I too want to basically gut the avata and transfer the thing onto a 5" of sorts. I love the idea of using the camera as is and using gyroflow. No more two camera setup...at least for a 5" and microsized drone.

Yeh that would be cool! But because Avata only works with Goggles V2 and Goggles 2, I think the new air unit will only support those 2 goggles 😕

No the GPS is disconnected so no restrictions with that.

By searching on the Avata 2 I stumbled upon you your Video which is just amazing. Are you going to do something similar to the Avata 2? It would be so nice if we were able to use the Avata 1/2 Gimbal in FPV Freestyle copters like the Headtracking gopro gimbals from Medlin Drone/ Nurk FPV. Don't you think? especially with the Avata 1 Used Prices now.

This is great, but how do you know when the drone will run out of battery? You also won't be able to know the drone's location due to the lack of GPS.

ahh just used the camera. I thought you were going to convert the whole avata system onto a carbonfiber frame or upgrade the ecu module. but nope just a camera system extra weight with the module. would have been nice if you could have got the avata gps and other features to work

Not really. The new Avata is bringing tech to fpv that no other company or open source project have been able to produce. I’ve been waiting for someone to do this same thing with a 3” frame. I think we are going to see the most modded ever consumer fpv quad ever as people start tearing the avata down and making improvements to the design limitations while exploiting the best features.

Best to watch a teardown video. It’s not that difficult. You just need to unscrew the 2 screws on either side of the module attaching it to the frame. Then there is also another screw at the base that you need to unscrew. Just be gentle with the cable. Unscrew the one screw over the little metal plate on the GPS plug and rotate it around and gently lift out the connector. If you are cautious and slow it will be fine

@@paul-ku Video quality kind of seems the same in my opinion. As for the comfort, I find the V2 more comfortable. The Goggles 2 push up against my nose which gets kinda uncomfortable. Waiting for a 3rd party to come out with new foam options. BUT, I way prefer the size and form factor of the Goggles 2. I love how tiny they are and that the antenna fold away. I also prefer the touch pad over the old button.

I was wondering when somebody would comment on this 😂 yeh it was tragic. We actually found the Komodo and the water was so fresh it was fine after it dried out. It was for a Sky TV production so it’s in the BTS but it’s not out yet unfortunately.

If you know the drone well, you know what damage it can do to yourself or the surroundings. Just be cautious with these cinelifters. Hell no i arm my Siccario within 1 meter of myself.
