kamuei01 1. Synchronizer there for is should be Synchro 2. Chill 3. double clutching helps protect your synchros, plus easier to get into gear if a synchro going bad. yes a granny shift is an insult saying you shift too slow. 4. you should always live by a quarter mile and time. for those ten seconds or less, you can be free.
I've never heard of anyone double clutching to shift to another gear only unless your downshifting then yes I've heard of that. If the synchro is bad no matter what it will most likely throw the gear back to neutral with the horrid grind.

You can tell who are the non-racers. Even though I am not a professional runner, I have raced a 350Z and assortment of sportbikes. I never got used to the exhilaration and the "good" anxiety I feel knowing hundreds of people are watching/betting on you, and hoping not to screw up. I miss it! Great job!
Lol look at all the screen racers. A: Lots of power, street tires. B: With mods especially a supercharger you get a tune, it most likely no longer is best to shift at 4500 or 5000 rpm. The higher the rpm, The higher the HP. C: Spinning in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, the reason he shifted into 4th is because as you can see, the back end was getting fishy, and he didn't want to lose it. This guy did great considering its his first time with the new setup and street tires. Props dude, good shit.

@BradgoFast you are correct.. although the wheels are spinning, the car is gaining speed (not much mind you) I think to feather the throttle more and find grip is the real answer.. but it was his FIRST run by the way.
Yousif Al-Obaidi spot on. My mom used to let me shift the car as a kid when i was in the passenger seat. She taught me to move it back and forth to make sure it was not stuck in gear. 15 years later and I do it whenever I park so I or someone else does not start it up in gear and drives through a gate or something.

from the video, some rear suspension components would have fixed the issues with the traction at the launch and second gear. With that taken care of, it would have been a completely different race all together. SPC and other companies make plenty of rear suspension parts. I had Kinetix rear camber/toe kit and eibach sways with GTSpec undercarriage frame supports on my G35coupe and it handled like a dream. I used it for daily use and drift. I had a bunch of boltons on the motor but no FI.
that's the sound of a turbocharger winding down. the stuttering hiss from need for speed what you are used to hearing is the blow off valve. if you don't understand any terminology used, google is always available to explain. :)
If you can move it all the way from left to right it means its in no specific gear(neutral), and won't stall out if your rpms are too low for that gear.
@WyattHD it was hitting the rev limiter because he was spinning, if he would have shifted it would bog. what he should have done is let off a bit or let it bounce of the rev limiter.
ahhh i cant wait to do this to my z....only one thing about the z's is the ass end likes to go everywhere..im surprised this kid did so well even though he messed up....kudos to you ..
@crazyhotdog12 The point where his Z starts to catch up is the point the corvette hits the end and slows down, you can tell because the Z slows down at the same point the corvette did (the point where is looks like he's catching up)
@Gomethog the reason he didnt shift is because the wheels were still spinning and squealing. if he would have shifted going that slow to a higher gear his rpm would have dropped super low. i dont think you understand how it works
its something everyone does with a manual car.. i catch myself doing it when im nervous or about to race.. for very beginners to stick shift cars, its to confirm the car is in neutral.
@ericmck2000 I agree. I have an 11 second camaro thats a five speed. You can't take your hand off the shifter, there's no time. All the people with 20 second hondas need to stop telling people with real cars how to drive. That guy did everything just fine. You don't put slicks on a street car, and while he may have left line a little too hard that has nothing to do with him slipping in third.
I have my Class A CDL and you automatically fail the road test if you put the truck into neutral while it's in motion. In my truck driving school, they kept on saying that you don't have full control of the vehicle while it's moving in neutral. That goes for any vehicle they said. It's a bad habit that so many people get into. Anyway, I just figured I would let you know. Nice 350Z man.
I got a 350Z that I love to death, but I have yet to make it to a drag strip. But people are so fucking stupid, he has bloody street tires and it has a vortech supercharger! Of course his tires are going to be going crazy. And it's his first run ever, maybe he needs to get more of a feel for the car.
Launching a car when all it wants to do is spin is way harder than people think and dudes will still call you a bitch for not wanting to put money on a dig race when you know you're going to just spin lol

@bcbc1975 yeah i have some track time in my supra i was thinking about selling it for a supercharged or turbo 350z which is why i looked up this video. a good idea is to show up early and "walk the track" to see which lane is better for launch. with 475 you shouldn't have a hard time hooking on any track with decent tires tho. for better input from other 350 drivers i suggest checking out and joining a 350z online forum. happy boosting

nah i was in my integra and on the freeway i came across a red srt8 charger that was for sure not stock lol and two black chicks were driving it but no joke, they were huuuuggge, and must have added extra 350 to 400lbs, and i still got owned
@dk1229 run was over he was slowing down.its faster to slow down in neutral besides brake pads are cheaper then putting wear on your engine,trans and clutch by downshifting
Marcus_Mravik All tracks should be doing do that it gets all the debris off..Ours does it especially when they throw that vht down rocks pebbles and everything else you can imagine sticks to the surface. Looks like a well prepped track..I assume you don't race at the track much since you never seen it and thought it was funny? That should be the norm

Sheesh, lots of comments here, who cares about opinions? He piled into redline 3 shifts in a row, otherwise would have had a good run. Redline kills your power, btw, for anyone who thinks it's cool--that funky sound is your fuel pump shutting off and back on.
he needed about 600 bills worth of good tires, and his et would have dropped 2 seconds. he had traction when he was about 3/4 of the way down the track.
@WyattHD nah bro, it just means shift, if you throw a rod or bearing then the rev limit is too high. in high horsepowered cars your not supposed to but it does yield better times by hitting rev limiter once or twice in first and second to keep the speed up so that when the next gear catches it doesnt bog down or loose boost, and remember before you talk crap, this is highhorspowered street tires cars, not cars on full blown slicks although with a s/c you should be having slicks
@ninjured i never had a problem finding neutral either until i got into something with a racing shifter. now i do it all the time cause 1st and third are so close together.
I would of start the car in second gear to avoid too much wheel spin. It has more than enough power to do so. I think the best ratios need to be adjusted also. There is no carry from second to third. Putting the car in neutral while driving is bad driving habits and not recommended by engineers and mechanics. Damn this car has alot of power though. However i would like a cockpit view from that yellow car
