@@davidkrocks no that's exactly what they do. My '01 GS300 barely broke 118k miles, leaks like a pig, but every single time you check the dipstick, has enough oil. At this point I just don't bother questioning it. It has its own, whatever it's leaking isn't affecting it

On the flat head bolts where Dave put sealant on to keep them from falling out of the aluminum piece, how do you prevent the bolts from spinning when you're tightening down the supercharger?

Ford S/C on a Lexus is so cool and the fact you're "chasing" an -wagon M5 (still super cool but my heart is with the LS...) as the benchmark is just like yes, please more and more and more shame you didn't get the motor running but that's all part of the build realities isn't it ;)

Little tip from a tech guys, when using a file, to lenghten it's useable life, it is recommended to file only in the frontwards direction. The file teeth are directionnal and filing back and forth rather than only frontwards renders the file dull prety quickly ;) I love your videos btw, this is just friendly advice

A single bastard file is meant to file in one direction. A double bastard file is meant to file in both directions. So, it would depend on what style of file they were using. But, I agree, it looks like it was a single bastard and should have only been used in the Push direction.

Don't forget to have a look at the pcv system now that you're adding boost. If you don't want that small oil leak to become a major issue

Honest question: could this series have been possible with any other brands besides Lexus and BMW? Volkswagon-Audis, Jaguars, Cadillac, Volvos are better off not messing with. Mercs and Acura’s are already maxing out their transmission/engine performance tolerances; more performance can be had, but at what cost. Infiniti might be able to do something with some weird turbo Nissan work.

Replacing the starter with a factory new unit while the intake was off would have been a good idea. It will go out in a month, just watch.

My Ls400 has little leaks here an there due to old seals and gaskets. Look for the crank seal, cam seals, valve cover gaskets and the VVTI sprockets sometimes spring a leak. Replace those and you should be oil leak free for a loong time.

It’s common the 10mm bolts on the valve covers come loose. Just tighten them down. You do not need to do valve cover gaskets.

That top plate with the countersunk bolts looks like it would be better with a stud step up rather than the counter sinks, The countersink looks like lots of opportunity to spin in the hole

You need to cap that power steering switch valve off completely they are know to leak all over the alternator. All you need is a oil pan drain plug and plug the switch valve directly at the power steering pump. I’ve done this to a Toyota pick up, my SC400 and LS400

If I had to take a wild guess, the bolt holes that hold the fuel rail in place wouldnt line up anymore

interesting idea, we never tried that, but I'm guessing that Justin is right that the bolt holes wouldn't line up and because the bosses for the bolts are on one side of the rail it might also move the rail too far inboard and foul on the manifold. Top marks for creative thinking on your part, though!

@@speedacademydave I looked at a picture again and the rails are NOT mirrored, like we initially thought. They should fit if you rotate the assembly 180 degrees, horizontally. Hmmm, I wonder if anyone has ever tried it.

Valve Cover Gaskets are unlikely. Try tightening the bolts around the valve covers... they become very loose after years. Common issue.

Swap out that old plastic radiator! Even a new OEM radiator will survive longer than that old thing.

That could be part of "Stage 2" when we intercool it and put a smaller s/c pulley on it.

Love you guys but you're wasting your time with 5-7psi and no intercooler. That's a heat pump more than anything. If you run a bunch of methanol and e85 you can make it work. But if you did a full bolt on same thing without the supercharger the car would probably be faster. You might be able to get away with a centrifugal supercharger with no intercooler but not an eaton/heaton. It'll have more tq and feel punchy but not much on pump gas

@@jordangarneau8817 the shape of the flange is not symmetrical, so the bolt hole spacing and flange/gasket shape mean you can only bolt on the TB one way.

Tune it right with a nice loud exhaust and 125hp NOS. Originally a race engine design, the quiet 3UZ-FE actually has great V8 sound when uncorked. That sound adds as much driving fun as another 100hp. Keep the Ford puffer far away. I'd sooner find a rare bad runner for cheap and just chop in 585hp LS crate motor. The Toyota gem is some kind of perfect as is.

You guys are a really good inspiration for bad builds... Why do you bother making build videos taking lazy shortcuts.. Are you proud of this sloppy work..? Making "How to" type videos should be about doing it right.. This is not that, but more a "How not to" video.. It's just sad to se people that put them self in a "Rolemodel/inspiration" position with more than 500K subskribers teach sloppy and shitty work that deserve no pride at all.. If it vas a wreck made for just a budget race or for bashing in the fields or something, I would be all for it, but here you put a small fortune in the car and then do a shitty job, taking shortcuts and removing features from the car, that the ingeneers who made it obviously put ther for a reason. You can do better thyan that, come on...!!

I have a 98 1uz vvti swap in my Lexus is200/300. Would love to do this or a low boost turbo set up. What would be the max boost the 3uz can take. I know a lot has to come in to it. Was thinking 8-10 psi with a hx35 turbo. Can’t wait to see more of the car.

I'm working on a crank / no start for my 13 lexus GS350. Apparently the fuel pressure sensor causes a short in the ECU when it goes bad and causes the car to malfunction. When turning the car on to accessories the radiotor fans turn on immediate and blast on high and I cannot communicate to the ECU with OBD scanners. Working in this freezing ass toronto weather makes me jealous of people who have shops but you guys gave me motivation to work on my own car.

How did u mock up the serpentine belt with the stock engine pulleys did u have to use spacers or ??? Looking to do this setup on my 98 gs400 that will me manual trans swapped plus piggyback fuel system or stand-alone ecu. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Toyota Pickups use the same vac referenced PS setup. Unless you're running BIG tires, the car will drive like stock, even in parking lots.

I have a 2002 Toyota v6 (made in Japan) and my valve cover gaskets were leaking and went to change and all the bolts had backed out and could be removed with your fingers. I think you should do the valve gaskets while your there.

The kit should come with alignment dowels for the silver adapter plate. That way it is guided directly into the correct spot. This way you don’t risk getting a leak because the flange sealant was thinned out from moving around the plate to line up the holes. Then just remove the studs once torqued down.

Lift the heater hose with a pick just enough to spray some wd40 in there. Then twist off easily.

Also, I bet that valve cover leak is just a matter of loose valve cover bolts. The UZ V8s are known for those bolts coming loose. Torque to spec, good to go!

Is the throttle body flange mounting bolt pattern square? if so I would have just rotated the TB 90 or 180 degrees.

Nice fuel line solution, but the reason why manufactures run the fuel feed line to one fuel rail on one bank, and then run a hard steel line from the primary rail on bank one over to the other rail on bank 2, is because the fuel rail itself is considered a “fuel reservoir” and the pressure stays consistent on both rails, also you usually see the return line on the slave rail with the fuel pressure regulator, which slows the return of the fuel down back to the tank, again - keeping the pressure “inflating” the fuel rails.

Stock airbox is already cold air intake, it gets air from directly behind front grill. parts.lexusofpembrokepines.com/v-2005-lexus-ls430--base--4-3l-v8-gas/electrical--powertrain-control A pod filter on a stick is only going to raise intake temperatures, which are already an issue with a supercharger, particularly with a roots style blower.

@taznz1's got it, the OE airbox has a really nicely integrated cold-air duct so we want to retain it. Where there are real gains to be made on this car is with the PPE headers, but they're a bit pricy and not a lot of fun to install, so we'll see what kind of power we pick up from the blower before deciding on exhaust side options.

Looking at the OG rad hose, it looks like if you flipped it you'd get the clearance you need? the end going into the rad could go into the engine and would move the whole hose toward the rad.

In the rotary community, everyone who runs one of those flexible coolant hoses always ends up with a rusty coolant system. Due to the metal of the hose not being grounded to the rest of the block.

Another good way to get belt lengths is to run to Ikea and grab a few of thier paper (free) tape measures. I've done that a bunch of times.

Could you put a spacer in between the elbow and the intake manifold instead of in between the throttle body and elbow? So it spaces straight out away from the fuel rail

It looks like that coolant hose is longer on the side you want to shorten. It looks like you could pull it off and flip it to possibly get some extra clearance.

We looked at that when we had it off but unfortunately it hits the overflow tank that way.
