This video is from 2015 so at the time Gus was the first gay Olympian to come out publicly . There were obviously others before him but they kept it quiet.
@mmg8823 yes I know. All the other gay Olympians until then had been in the closet when they competed. Greg definitely wasn't out publically then. And obviously many male ice skaters were also gay but kept in the closet. Either by their own choice or they were encouraged to keep it quiet.
@@PtxXtp The entire ice skating community knew that there were many gay men among them. It just wasn't talked about back then. Just like how people didn't talk about President Kennedy's affair when he was in office. People's private lives were more private back then they are today.
