I loved this story so much. I remember the announcement and how hard it was to get the paperback after James Gunn mentioned it. But for once the book was not only worth the hype it exceeded expectations. I really love how DC is doing deluxe editions lately so I will definitely be picking this up. Personally I like to give away the paperbacks to a not normal comic reader. But this art and story...must own and bigger and more beautiful. Sign me up.
I’d jump at this story if it’s given the absolute treatment to enjoy this beautiful art in oversized format and high quality paper. For now I’ll stick with my TPB. Gorgeous dustjacket though! Thanks Omar!
My thoughts exactly, I'd recommend this for anyone that hasn't read the story yet but I'd rather spend that money on a book I haven't already read/own even though it's a phenomenal story. But with that being said I would love to see some of these pages in absolute format.
Bought all the single issues as they were coming out and the trade and loved the story. Wasn't gonna get the hardcover until my toddler niece tore up my TPB, so i was forced to double dip. But im glad i did though. all the behind the scene material is interesting to look thru. Pretty sure when the movie comes, the tpb and hardcover will see a huge jump in sales and probably convince DC to do an Absolute version, which i'll probably get. DC!!! DELUXE HARDCOVER OR ABSOLUTE OF HUMAN TARGET PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!! NEED THAT GREG SMALLWOOD ART IN OVERSIZED FORMAT PLEASE!!!!
Looks like glued binding... not sewn. It's not extra glue from a sewn bind. the pages appear to have jagged cuts in the image shown, indicating glued binding.
This is true, it's glued binding. It can be deceptive as one end may look sewn (you can see the round edges of the signatures) but if they're jagged and covered in glue at the other end, then it isn't sewn. I personally find it unacceptable that so many of DC's "deluxe" editions come glued.
@@darklightdays yup. Many of their glued deluxes are still pretty high quality. But it also seems there is no rhyme or reason to when they choose glued vs sewn binding for their deluxes. Like I believe White Knight is sewn but Curse of the White Knight is glued.
Yep I can confirm it's definitely glued binding. Such a shame. Always totally let down when upgrading or getting Deluxe editions only to still be glued binding.
To anyone who's considering reading this book but is skeptical of it because of the author: I know. Trust me, I know. But if there was ever an exception to King's work, let this be it. I honestly don't know what kinds of drugs he took to make a story this good. It's the greatest Supergirl story ever written and my favorite comic of all time. Give it a chance and you will not regret it I swear
Spoiler!!!! After reading the book twice it is still not clear to me if HE is killed at the end or not. Is there an official statement on the ending (I know all the fan arguments).
The art by Biliquis is stunning. Unfortunately, I just find Tom King a very up and down writer. I'll have to skip this. Again though, just amazing art work.
