Atlas basically said 'you've given me a gift, in two parts. I get to be there for one of the most important days in my daughter's life, and I got to see Zeus absolutely pissed off.'
"A hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat on a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.”
“I believe there's a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams.”
I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss I see the lives for which I lay down my life Peaceful and useful, prosperous and happy I see that I hold a sanctuary in their hearts and in the hearts of their decedents Generations hence It is a far far better thing that I do Than I have ever done It is a far far better rest that I go to Than I have ever know.
"Be their hero, Clark. Be their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be... or be none of it. You don't owe this world a thing. You never did."
Could of just as easily had shaken the child at hyper sonic speed between panels giving the child permanent mental defects. So he can go around glass-eyed and drooling "I thaw Supamahn" to the Make-a-Wish people, who assume dying Timmy meant he wanted to meet Superman. Superman of course obliges and shows up to see Timmy mouth agape in a horror his broken brain cannot fully grasp, grinning at his work Superman simply says. "Do you feel like a hero, Timmy? I think you're a hero, Timmy." Leaves before Timmy has a hysterical tantrum and dies, but of course Superman's super hearing heard it, his grin grows wider as he flies away.
“All it takes is a helping hand.” Remind me of another great quote by another great man “A person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt, a real superhero.” -Stan Lee
@@yjraptor not the wrong universe. Stan Lee has written comics for DC. A man not bound by labels. His reimagining of the DC characters was indeed fascinating.
@@irradiatedice98 This isn't how it works mate. You can go enjoy the comic that has Paul in it, but I'm going to stay where I am truly understanding the story and knowing when It's a shit one
If you like these sorts of stories. Definitely check out Superman Red & Blue. They’re a collection of short stories that really understand the essence of SuperMan.
It was. He was showing the kid that *even Superman* lives a normal life when he’s not off saving the world. It’s to drive home that point that *anyone* can be a hero and that there are countless heroes all around you every day.
I was just going to comment that but not exactly his identity, as the kid probably doesn't know Clark Kent. He is dressed as a normal guy giving the kid the idea that any person can be a super-man if he tries to do things right and that even Superman is in the end just a normal guy trying to do things right.
I don’t believe Superman is the greatest hero because DC says do. I believe it because it’s the truth. And Superman stands for truth; The truth that anyone can be a hero simply by helping those in need. Anyone can be like Superman.
Have you read or played the injustice story line? There is 2 video games that tie in with the comic books of the same name. If you havent i can recommend. But its not a superman you are used to seeing.
@@wesleydamen2018 Of course I have. But in that story, Superman is encouraged to go down the darker, easier path, especially by Wonder Woman, after emerging from an unspeakable tragedy. I honestly believe Superman could have become the Man of Tomorrow again if Wonder Woman didn’t try to mold Superman into an inhuman weapon when he was most vulnerable, that he had the strength, and prove Batman right that he is indeed incorruptible and the Joker wrong. On that note, I expect Superman’s redemption if they make an Injustice 3, even if he dies saving the world as Superman again.
So true. Marvel just loves exploiting humanity's darkness in every character and every story. Time to change the recipe, it's getting too predictable and tired.
Atlas really has to have AMAZING Stamina, to be able to hold the Heavens for so very long, before him, it was four other titans that did so... Hyperion Titan-God of Light, Bearer of the Eastern Pillar of the Heavens. Husband of Theia Titan-Goddess of Eyesight. Father of Helios, God of the Sun, Selene, Goddess of the Moon, and Eos, Goddess of the Dawn. Crius Titan-God of Constellations, represented by Aries as his name means "Ram", Bearer of the Southern Pillar. Husband of Eurybia Titan-Goddess of the Power over, and Mastery of, the Sea. Father of Astraeus God of the Dusk, Stars, & Planets, Perses God of Destruction. and Pallas God of Battle (Father of Nike[Victory], Zelos[Zeal & Rivalry], Cratos[Strength], and Bia [Power]) Coeus Titan-God of Intelligence, Resolve, and the Celestial Axis, Bearer of the Northern Pillar. Husband of Phoebe, originally Titan-Goddess of Intellect, Prophecy and Oracular Insight, eventually became synonymous with the Moon. Father of Leto Goddess of Motherhood, Childbirth, and Modesty, and Asteria Goddess of Falling Stars, Prophetic Dreams, and Nocturnal Divination. and lastly Iapetus Titan-God of Mortality, Bearer of the Western Pillar. Husband of Clymene Titan-Goddess of Fame and Renown. Father of Atlas himself who is the God of Endurance, Menoetius God of Violent Anger and Rash Action, Prometheus God of Forethought, and Epimetheus God of Afterthought.
NGL it's these kind of stories that imo feel like the best stories for the modern age. Everyone needs an escape, and comic stories like these are the definition of "take a break, enjoy something feel good."
Exactly! We know the world sucks but seeing this gives us hope and reminds of us of the little good in the world and those around. Pushing to continue to dream and push forward to, if nothing else, a better tomorrow for ourselves and those around us.
Isnt that what a wife is for? To be our therapist. Why wont you do your job? Is there anything you can do what's of actual use for somebody else like cooking or cleaning? Being loyal to one person?
@@Neme5i5snanke001 to clarify, luffy does heroic things because he wants to instead of out of a sense of obligation. During one storyline, he decides to break from an established plan because a girl gave him lunch, he believes this to be appropriate compensation for him to topple a brutal dictator oppressing the country. He’s heroic but cause he want to be. Luffy does no subscribe at all to the idea that with great power comes great responsibility
It’s really nice to see a positive Superman comic with a positive view of fathers. In this age of cultural destruction it’s heartwarming to remember the bonds that make us human.
45 yo, started reading comics in the 90s, I was a bat fan from the start. After getting older I realized something about Superman char. He was a dad even before having a kid, bad dad jokes and puns, but like a good dad, a good person he would defend with his life what is his. There a chapter where joker goes to metropolis, superman says: Batman has a code, I don't, I just don't generally kill. That is what makes superman a great hero that could be turned to evil if you remove his humanity. Injustice anyone?.
This episode shows the people have become dependent on Superman. Choosing to not step up because he is picking up the slack. Prior to Superman that ideal did not exist to inspire them. Superman managed to be more than just a hero, he became a symbol. A literal elemental force of hope. An ideal too heavy for his mond to always follow. He fell, faltered at times, he still had hope that humanity would join him in the sun.
Because it's in a metaphysical realm which means it's non-physical and physical. It's more impressive than just lifting as is his burdens but also impossible weight. Remember only superman and gods could replicate this feat.
@@akumablood1509 it's the Greek mythology terms my guy. Superman is literally in the same realm as atlas, they are not on earth so yes its the heavens he's carrying. I sweat it's like you haters always wanna question shit for no reason .
I don’t doubt the Heavens are heavy, but in that “realm” can it be possible that even you’re average bodybuilder can lift the heavens, or only the likes of Superman. 🤔
The implication is that the 'weight' is borne with your strength of heart. For Atlas, it was an ironic punishment, given his immense strength, that he was tasked to bear a burden that would tax his soul in equal measure to his body. The metaphorical weight of the responsibility translated directly into physical strain. In a sense, only someone who could shoulder both sides of the burden, of heart and of back, even *could* accept the burden, let alone would be willing to actually do it, even for a day. Only someone like Superman, and fairly few others. (I could see someone like Shazam being willing to try it, for example)
@@HeavyMetalMouse: Do you think someone like Arthur Morgan from RDR2 could be up to the task or said person is too “guilt driven” maybe someone like Clive Rosfield from FF16, someone who put the weight of the world on his shoulders in order to create a world like the one we live in today. 🤔
@@jeffcarroll1990shock: Exactly, if one undergoes this challenge that “one” must understand how lift with their Hearts instead of their strength. I’m willing to bet that anyone who is worthy to lift Thor’s Mjölnir would be worthy enough to lift the Heavens. At least that’s my take. 😉
Keep in mind the reason Atlas has such a severe punishment such as holding up the Heavens for eternity is because he was the one who led the war against Zeus and the Olympians so he got the worst punishment out of all of the Titans.
"metaphorical feat not actual strenght Feat" even the author of the Comic Confirmed this in a tweet where he was Questioned about this" so its just a Metaphor about Carrying ones Burden"
If he did, then that kid will tell everyone now. You done f****d up, Clark. You f****d up big time. 😭💀 Kid: OMG, MOM! Guess who I just saw today?! Mom: Who, sweetie? Kid: Clark!! Mom: You mean from the Daily Planet? So what? That's not really news, hun. Kid: He took off his glasses and showed me that he's actually SUPERMAN!!!! There are eyewitness reports of people claiming to have seen the secret identity of Metropolis' hero & savior, Superman! Supposedly the hero's secret identity is non other than the Daily Planet's very own CLARK KENT!"_ Clark _(watching the news):_ *Spits out coffee* Everyone in Metropolis: *Spits out coffee* 🗣️💬👥👥👥👥👥👥👥👥🌎🌐☕
So this confirms Shazam has more muscle endurance/stamina than Superman at the very least considering he has the Stamina of Atlas, and Superman was tired after a day of doing what Atlas had done for thousands of years.
I’m not sure, captain marvel has NEVER shown significantly more endurance than superman, only speed, could it be possible that it’s just a portion of atlas’ stamina? As to how marvel is equal to superman, it’s possible Zeus’ power amps up the small portion of strength from Hercules. I’m most likely completely wrong so… take my words with a grain of salt.
Atlas especially in modern culture like the Percy Jackson Series is seen as kind of evil and as a villain but to the g1reek he would have fit the role more of a tragic hero like calypso and Prometheus.
I already know because of what Superman did now he on Zeus's radar Superman better watch out because Zeus might transform into him the clap Lois Lane's cheeks like he did Hercules's mom💯🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Superman is way more inspirational and an all around much better guy, but Goku in DBS Anime and Manga could wipe the floor with any current versions of Superman, Dragon Ball just had to keep raising the stakes and DC is more focused on quality plot and having characters that could tap away several universes inside a universe whilst living on Earth and for all intents and purposes living life as a human is kinda problematic for the plot
Wait Superman had trouble holding up the Heavens yet he was able to contain a black hole and hold up a book of infinite pages....... ........ .........🤔🤦♂️
Dang atlas makes it look easy while superman struggled pffffft Hulk wouldn't struggle Hulk would be like Pffffft puny atlas Hulk smash Goku wouldnt struggle He just finds a new transformation that makes it easy and look at it like weighted clothing to the point where he's holding it with one hand n shoveling food in his face with the other Thor wouldn't struggle.....ok Thor might But Thor sucks and so does superman I wouldn't struggle Bcuz I'm too sexy to struggle
@@galifrey2242 Goku's punches are enough to threaten the universe itself. The bout between him and Beerus was said to have nearly destroyed universe 7. Thus Goku's between universal to multiversal in terms of strength, easily enough to deal with a planet.
Im sorry but this showcases the weird comics mess. The greek gods are part of the DC universe... like in the marvel universe. And all heroes stand in a weaker scale than them. Suddenly, I dont understand why people say superman is the strongest hero when his feats are so weak overall.
